Customer Reviews

A review with pictures for your questions. These glasses just arrived and I'm pretty impressed. This is the first pair of sunglasses I've bought that were over 20 dollars, so a little nervous buying them at first. They're also the first polarized glasses I've bought.I purchased these for work, and as an EMT I wanted something that looked professional and would help decrease glare while driving code 3 into the sunset. lol... Overall I think they will work great and would recommend giving them a shot.I'll try to cover some things I had questions about when buying them. They seem durable and will last a long time. The lenses are incredibly clear, something that really stands out to me due to never having purchased a good set of glasses. They did in fact come with a case, leash cord and lense cloth, along with information on how to care for them.As for the fit, they're perfect. I don't think I have a big head though, and if I did I'd be a little concerned. The material they're made of does give a lot of "play" to accommodate a larger head but I can't really tell if it would affect the field of view. The lenses are more low profile, and I purposefully bought them for this reason. One thing that may be of concern to someone else though, is that the lenses to cover my entire field of view unless I'm looking down, like at my phone. Then I can start to see out of the glasses. This might not be an issue on the larger glasses like the Saint model. Which look identical, just have a larger lense I believe.Nose piece and arms. Some people I've seen complain the nose piece isn't removable/interchangeable but I don't have any complaints her they're not poking me or making it fit awkward. Same goes with the rubber on the arms, they're not removable/replaceable. But idk what you would have to do to need them replaced. They seem really durable.P.s. One pic makes the inside of the lense look purple. This is not the case, I think it may be the polarization?? Lol, glasses noob here.Edit: scratch resistance may be an issue, my girlfriend knocked them off the counter and they got scratched. I watched videos on them and impact resistance is awesome (literally stopped 12ga shot) but seem to scratchy fairly easily. Dropping to four stars.4Great product and it does wear after a few years of daily use.Great glasses , have had them since 11/2015.. needless to say, they're beat to hell. Now some have commented about there durability after a few years of use. I think if I wore anything else as much as I've wore these glasses , that particular item would be falling apart too. For me personally , I work outdoors on utility lines in New England. These buggers have saved my eyes from wire slaps and tree branches in my face. Also survived Muggy summers to bone brittle winters and my Wileys have endured it all and all weather elements in between. I've just decided to purchase another pair but this time I'm going with Wiley x saints. If those don't cut it I'll definetly get another pair of valors as they've set the bar high. These I would pick any over 5.11 brand , revision sunglasses and Oakley half jackets.5Best sunglasses glasses, period.I love these. I've owned three different pairs of Wiley X sunglasses in the last decade. My first pair was issued by the army. My second pair a company rep gave me free in exchange for the ther pair I wore in Iraq. I wore that pair for seven years. I've had these for three and still going strong. They were a little tight advice me ears at first but "broke in" in about two weeks of daily wear. The smoke lenses are just the right amount of dark. The amber lenses work great when it rains, on the gun range, and when I am mountain biking (still want some sun blocking but not as dark so I can still see dark sections of trail. I wear them everyday for regular use, for road bicycling, for mountain biking, when I'm on the gun range, and when I need safety glasses when I'll be sweating. They are very durable. They have held up to my then infant now toddler playing with and "using" then, hot brass from a pistol hitting them, countless drops from the top of my head when I've leaned over too far, and a mountain bike crash. They stay put on my face no much in sweating. They also only fog in very cold weather while I'm biking and wearing a balaclava but not other times. The lenses change easy enough but have never popped out.And they are a fraction of the price of Oakley glasses and still ballistic impact rated.5Conservatively stylish, fits large heads, impact resistant, changeable lenses, economicalAfter studying the world of large-sized sunglasses for my over-sized head (I wear size 8 hat) and having studied many recommendations and reviews, I chose the Wiley X Valor, and it did not disappoint. However, I do wish it came with a few more accessories, such as a better case.I won't rehash the ad copy. Let's just say Wiley X Valor is impact resistant and can stop combat shrapnel. It is reminiscent of the "shield" type sunglasses, yet not too outrageously so. I call it "conservatively stylish" in that it's obviously not a typical "aviator" or "Wayfarer" and suck, nor does it scream "dollar store", yet it's not funky-colored like Oakleys with rainbow mirror lenses. I have a large round yet relatively flat face with relatively high cheeks, and most sunglasses I wear end up hitting my cheeks. Valor, due to reduced vertical dimensions, does not.The Wiley X Valor also accepts changeable lenses. There are about 4-5 different ones from WileyX (standard grey, clear, amber, crimson, rust), but there are aftermarket makers that make dozens of colors, with or without polarization, and so on.And the Wiley X is relatively economical, when Oakleys typical goes for $100+ even on Amazon. Valor can be had for about $55 or so when I bought it.So what's the downside?1) the included case is VERY basic. It holds the glasses, a lens cloth, and nothing else. It doesn't even have a clip to hook onto your backpack, nor any compartment for extra lenses should you acquire them later. Apparently, a "deluxe" case is available, but I went ahead and bought a different hard case from OneTigris.2) Right now they are tight against my temples. I do wish they are a bit wider, even though this is already pretty wide. All in all, I like the sunglasses, but it has some minor flaws.4These fit great for a smaller head size tooAs someone who usually wears the Edge eye ware safety sunglasses this is my first pair of Wiley X sunglasses and I am very impressed. (There was nothing wrong with the Edge glasses, just wanted to try something new). They fit great and look pretty cool too. The black Kryptek camo looks better in person and these are legit polarized lenses. It comes with a hard case, cleaning cloth and the lanyard to go on the ends of the arms to hold them in place should the need arise. I also like how they are ANSI, OSHA and military ballistic compliant so all of the service men out there can buy these without any worries and I can wear them to work without OSHA giving me any trouble. Im sure these won t be my last pair so I highly recommend this purchase.5AWESOME AWESOME GLASSESThe glasses were just what I expected.Pros:- The black matte finish, I'm a sucker for black- The frame material is either rubber or rubberized. Because of that the glasses will take more beating that others, as the frame will not bend out of shape as easily as metalic ones. This same material is what allows that matte finish I mentioned earlier, did I mention I'm a sucker for black already?-They fit my face perfectly, I had looked for pictures on google of people wearing this model, some looked great, others seem like the lenses part was a bit too big so I didn't know what to expect. I am not exactly small nor thin, but my face is just a normal kind of shape, not too small, not too big.-The lenses are easy to replace, just bend the frame a bit (which is easy to do due to the rubber type of material) and they snap on and off. So if you like going to the range for example, these are great. Just swap the lenses, put the clear ones on and you're good to go. You're pretty much getting three glasses for the price of one.CONS-Not sure if really a con, but worth mentioning. The end of the arms (not sure if that's what it's called) fit on quite tight around the head. This may or may not be the case for others depending on their head shape. But despite them fitting tight, they are not uncomfortable, the don't hurt in any way, The design might be intended to be like this for military or work uses since it would make it very difficult for them to fall off.-Since the glasses fit my head shape so well I can push them in towards my eyes to "wrap" around my face very close, but if I do so the lenses fog up a bit. So I just pull them a bit away from my eyes, and problem solved. The cons don't really out weigh the pros in my opinion, hence the 5 stars. My $200 Oakley's have taken a back seat for now.5Best safety glasses/sunglasses of any I have ever owned!I have had many brands of safety glasses for work in a manufacturing facility! These are the best I have ever had durability wise scratch resistant and uv protection! You can not go wrong with these Wiley X Valors! They do fog up a little when the humidity is high and or the temperature change from indoor to outdoor sometimes affects them. But you just wipe them off. I have never had a lens that does not fog over though, I do honestly not know if there is a true fog proof lens anywhere? I see why our military wears them they are an awesome glass! I only can wear clear at work as the company does not allow for tinted lenses while indoors but I do not even have to change to my darker lenses because the clear lenses are 100% UV protection and they do work very well in sunny days! I have not tried the other lenses as of yet so I can not comment on those. I highly recommend these over any other safety glass I have ever had! Thank you for reading and I hope it helps your decision making easier. If you ever have any questions I would be glad to try to help out! And thank you for reading my review.Tyler F.Update 7/18/17I have used the gray and the rust colored lenses and they suit their specific purposes flawlessly! The gray works in my opinion the best in bright sunny days with their patented eight layers of protection they are so easy on the eyes! There is absolutely no strain on the eyes which I have not experienced with no other sunglasses ever before! And the rust color are absolutely perfect on cloudy days it enhances and makes everything brighter in these situations! They both have had water, mud, and sweat wipe right off of them with no problems! There is and any lens will do this minor scratches but they do not affect vision or performance in any way! I have had many brands of glasses but absolutely none have performed like these! I hope this helps and I will never own another brand period! Thank you for reading!Tyler F.5Unlevel Stems WarningI bought these because of the very high quality and craftsmanship of my first pair of WileyX Valors with my prescription lens I bought early last year through my Optometrist. Now I have contact lenses so I bought an identical pair - but they seem cheap and the uneven stems make the glasses sit cock-eyed on my face. I'm going to find out how good their customer service is next to figure out how to adjust the stems.UPDATE: WileyX said Amazon.com Inc. is NOT an authorized retailer and thus could not offer me any support. She said they are aware of multiple counterfeit WileyX products here. So I'm returning these and I ordered a pair directly from WileyX (which cost twice as much in fact!).3Well worth the moneySolid build and quality. Military grade. Look simple and elegant. The case is quality and I recommend using it. The ballistic properties of the lenses mean they may scratch more easily than other hardened lenses. I m ok w that. The benefit of knowing an errant piece of road debris won t jack up my eyes more than outweighs the nominal cost. Great way to spend $50.For those that are concerned: the black lenses are dark, and people will only see your eyes if you are in direct sunlight or they are within striking distance of your person.I d buy them again.5Absolutely authentic, meets expectationsOriginally bought a non polarized pair from Academy Sports ($75) but was under the impression they were polarized. When I found out I was misled and that I could get an authentic polarized pair from Amazon for $83 I returned my first pair and ordered these. I was a bit worried that some shady seller on Amazon might send me a fake or counterfeit pair since the price was reduced $50. When I got them I double checked all markings, the polarization and box. You will see "WileyX Z87-2+" on the frame and over the inside nose, plus in the very lower left of the left eye it is marked "POLARIZED" but you need to look close. They come with a hard case, neck lanyard, and microfiber cloth. The box will be marked CHVAL08 on the side as well.As far as performance. I own Oakley polarized prism lenses on a pair of fives squared and have also owned black iridium polarized lenses in the past. The WlieyX lenses are almost as good as Oakleys, but much more durable and shatterproof. WileyX is better for shooting, hardcore impact activity, or anyone who would prefer to save $20-$100 vs certain Oakleys. Overall, I think both companies are 5 stars, but still give a slight edge to Oakley (made in USA, maybe the best lenses in the world but pricier).5
