    These are a MUST HAVE if you are assembling a stripped lower.Probably the most challenging part of assembling a stripped lower is the bolt catch roll pin. It's hard to find a punch long enough to reach it, especially without scratching the finish. Being flat on one side means you can get the punch almost flush with the receiver to drive the roll pin straight.The only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is because the soft rubber coating covers the end of the punch where you need to hammer on it. While the coating prevents scratching the receiver, it's only a matter of time before it splits from driving the roll pins in. If they would find a way to leave the end of the punch steel, it would be perfect!! 4The only roll pin you will ever need to assemble the AR15!This is probably the only roll pin you will ever need to assemble the AR15. Before I assembled my gun I bought a full set of pins as recommended by some "expert" gunsmith. When got to working on the Andersen receiver I came to discover that this is the only roll pin that I really needed. The flat profile of the tools did ease insertion of the bolt catch pin. And because it is coated with a rubber coating it does not scratch the finish of the gun during use. For assembly of the AR this tool is a must have and a pleasure to use. 5Very well thought out design and applicationThis AR-15 bolt catch roll pin removal/installation tool is a MUST HAVE! It works very well and keeps one from marring the surface of the weapon. This tool makes change outs extremely simple and headache free.Tip of the day----Use a small roll pin punch as a slave/centering tool when installing the bolt catch. This will help center up the hole in the bolt catch with both sides of the roll pin as you drive it in.Before using this tool go on the internet as watch videos regarding how to use it. This will save you time and alleviate many of your questions. Do not believe the people who say that the tool does not work. THEY are the problem because they are not using it correctly nor patiently. Take your time! This tool works very well. 5Useful set and won't scratch up your rifle.Although in the past I've gotten by without using these once I tried them I wouldn't skip them. They are easy to use and significantly reduce the chance of cosmetic damage to an AR15 lower. If you use a standard roll pin punch you'll encounter two issues. One is the angle you'll have to use will not be straight on the roll pin so you could bend the pin or the tool. The other is you'll definitely increase the chance of scratching your rifle.These are cut in a way that allows the proper angle on the roll pin and have a rubber sleeve to protect your rifle.Not everyone needs these but if you find yourself installing or removing the bolt catch I'd recommend this set, it'll make things easier. 5A MUST HAVE for a lower build There is no way I would ever again attempt an AR15 build without these...the flat sides which allow clearance on the lower plus the roll pin starter punch is a must have. I still tape the lowers I build with "blue tape" just as a precaution...but the design and vinyl covering on these punches pretty much make marring up a lower during a build a thing of the past. I am so glad to see useful tools such as these being offered at a good price along with quick shipping through Amazon. These punches really reduce the possibilities of ruining the roll pins or buggering up the tabs of the bolt catch when installing the bolt catch. The starter punch is great and the finish roll pin punch (with the end to keep the punch from slipping off the roll pin) is perfect. Even if you are planning only one or two lower builds, the low cost with Prime shipping makes this set a bargain. The peace of mind from using the correct tool for the job and knowing you will have a lower that is not scratched or beat up by a regular punch that may slip is well worth the money! (and buy a front pivot pin tool too )...Trust me on this. 5A must have toolAnyone who builds AR's or AR type rifles has at some point damaged or scuffed their lower receiver trying to get that one little pin in the bolt catch. This is the tool for that job. Rubber coated to protect the finish, long enough to drive it home. Here's an FYI to help with that small task to make it easier for those just starting out. Take a toothpick and break off about an inch and use that to hold everything together until you get the pin in. The toothpick will fall out as the pin drives in place and presto, bolt catch is installed!! 5These worked as described and really made the job of starting the pint super easy. I really appreciate the rubber coating as ...I finally took these out of the package and used them to install a bolt catch pin. It felt to good to know that my receiver finish was safe from damage (and the rubber did save the finish for sure). To be honest, I got the job halfway done with these, and once it was set I put the receiver in a vice and used it to push the pin in the rest of the way. Despite the help of the vice, I feel these punches are a must have if you are building/service ARs on an ongoing basis. 5both removing the roll pin and re-installing it again when I was done became very easy. Great product for this purposeI needed to remove the bolt catch, and didn't anticipate it to be as difficult as it turned out to be (I bent 2 punches without removing the roll pin at all). After that, I turned to google and found that specific bolt-catch punches exist just to get the proper angle and make it easier. 30 seconds later I had these things ordered, and a day-and-a-half later the kit arrived. With this kit, both removing the roll pin and re-installing it again when I was done became very easy.Great product for this purpose. 5Worth every cent! I'd buy them again in a heartbeat.These punches make a PITA job a quick, easy and painless one. I didn't have these when I built my first stripped AR lower, so I didn't think they were needed at all. Well I buggered up the roll pin on my next build and I couldn't drive it all the way home because the punch i was using wouldn't get in close enough anx due to the crown I put on it. Functionally the bolt catch worked but it looked bad with rolled edges and sticking out of one side. It really bothered me, I had spent $2,200 building the perfect SPR and this was the only flaw the rifle had. Every time I shot it or had it out I always saw that mangled pin. Finally I bought Wheel's brass, steel and poly punch set thinking I could knock it back out with them and then replace it and not harm the finish in the process. Wrong again, I just couldn't get the punch in where I needed it to be since it had to go out the way it came in and scratching up my receiver wasn't an option. Eventually I couldn't take looking at it anymore and I bought this punch set. I had already bought a few new roll pins when I bought the other punch set but they sat laughing at me. The day I got these I had that pin out in just a few minutes and the one in just as quickly. With the profile of these pins you can drive it either way but from the rear is the easiest. They are absolutely worth their price and I'd recommend them to anyone who plans on building an AR and I'd say they a necessity for anyone planning on building more than one. Knowing now how much easier the job becomes I wish I would have bought them before I started building my first stripped AR. Even if your not going ro build an AR these are worth the money if you just want to swap out your mil-spec bolt catch for an enhanced one. Are they required? No, but they sure make life easy and could be used for roll pins that are similar in size. I only wish I had bought them sooner. 5These are crucial...If you build many ar pattern guns. Loaned my first set out and never saw them again. Been making do since but finally bought another set and here on Prime via Amazon I could get them shipped quick and free even though truth be told I could have gotten these else where cheaper. But regardless they are well made and their rubber jackets are think and offer Protection for your receiver during build. Like I said before, not a necessity but if your doing these builds regularly or several a day, they are damn near a must !!! 4
