This is a must-have addition to anyone FOV-sensitive with a Vive. I experimented with running my Vive with no facial interface padding to see what the higher FOV given with thinner padding would look like and was blown away but couldn't deal with the discomfort from having no padding on the HMD.Some people may not notice any difference, but for me, with sim racing, these were a GREAT addition to my HMD, I feel significantly more presence in races while using this interface.I do notice some sweating and fogging of lenses while using these, but I really do feel like it's on the same level as the factory facial interfaces provided with the HTC Vive. 5Works well I was having some serious allergic reactions from the OEM foam on the HTC Vive. Had really bad breakouts on the areas where the foam touches my face and it was pretty bad. I couldn't use the HTC Vive for a while until i mostly recovered - it was about a couple of weeks...still kinda lingering now. After getting these replacement foam, the issues didn't occur anymore so yeah I'm quite happy and can finally use the Vive again without worry.A few things like others have stated already, its a bit thinner which causes the Vive's lens to be much closer to your face. Hence the slightly better FOV. This maybe an issue for people who wear glasses but the Vive is adjustable so it should still be ok. The new foam is slightly larger than the original so it'll stick out a bit outwards, which is really no big deal at all. I wouldn't say that its more comfortable than the OEM since the OEM wasn't all that comfortable to begin with. But i feel much better wearing these as i can actually wipe them down easily when need to.Its a bit pricey for a couple of foam replacements, but its definitely better to have for people who have skin allergy like me. 4Material is great. Craftmanship is poor. Edges of material should be sewn and not glued. Fell apart in less than 1 year. Quality of material is great. I really like the comfort and feel of this product compared to the default foam padding that came with HTC Vive. The material of the product also looks great on the HTC Vive. The function of the product is also excellent, It does help bring your eye distance closer reducing the goggle effect of VR and opening up more of your peripheral vision to the headset. However, the craftsmanship of this product is not long lasting. I had this product for 10 months and the glued seams along the edges that keep the foam material inside began separating and falling apart. I like the quality of the material of this product but, feel they should have sewn the edges of the material instead of using a material glue that apparently doesn't last more than 1 year of use.If the manufacturer corrects the way the material is held together will be a great product. If not, I would try other options out there for VR Covers or if this is your only option contact your local seamstress to fix the product. 2more comfortable than expected Buy if you are trading the headset between a lot of different people and want to be able to wipe with a cleaning cloth and quickly dry it between users. Don't buy if you are hoping for a significant FOV improvement or extra comfort for just yourself.Positives: easier to quickly clean; more comfortable than expected; blocks light better than expected; smaller framed glasses still work as the padding isn't too bulky.Neutrals: doesn't really change your FOV perception enough to be significant; overlaps outer edge of headset (overlap less than described in other reviews).Negatives: doesn't breathe as well which results in faster lens fogging from body heat (somewhat expected); you can't comfortably tighten the headset as much without the thicker foam so the headset ends up moving more with rapid head motion. 4A must have for your wive, dont use sponges. But you do need a wide nose piece for this to be comfy! Highly Recommended! Perfect! I don't regret this little additional investment to vive gaming. If anything, I'm glad that I did buy this even though the price really is a little too high, 29.99? But it is still worth it after all. The material is just more pleasant to your skin, I like that cool feeling of a leather like material that hugs your face, its pleasant and non irritating, definitely more natural than the stock sponge. And easily cleaned. Many mentioned, the Field of view really increases, to the point you do see the very outer edges of the wive display, it kinda cuts it from the circle to a sharp line at the mids section, but once you play the game, you dont see it, as if you would not spot a stuck pixels. Once you game, its gone so, no problem there, and would not be problem even if it was noticeable during the game as it is about 5~10% off the very outer edge. Now, I'm unsure if I red it here, or regards other slim foam reviews, a wide nose piece was recommended in use with any thinner foams than the stock ones. So I made sure to have wide nose piece before the cushion arrived and indeed it proves to be true. You need to change the stock Narrow nose piece for the wide one which you can get at htc's website. I think I paid 13 for 3 (no other deals as of right now) and shipping about 6 bucks and some change. Not sure there, since I bought the nose pieces along with a base station. If you don't have the wide nose piece yet and using this foam, just take the nose piece out and use silicone to glue a tiny piece of flat sponge on temporarily. Then peel the silicone off once youre ready to place the nose piece in to seal the gap on the bottom of your vision. 5Great upgrade, but it does cause fogging As with all things in life, there are some trade-offs to consider.PROs: The leather style material is way better at staying clean, and not becoming a sweat sponge like the oem foam pad. The more dense memory foam (compared to the oem foam) also seems to be better at creating a nice solid seal which helps keep the headset firmly in place, and keeping external light out. The thinner 6mm pad DOES in fact help increase your FOV.CONs: I never had an issue with my headset fogging until I switched to these. The reason why it doesn't soak up sweat like the oem pad is because the outer layer is solid, and not ultra-porous. But seems like the porous nature of the oem pad lets some air in and out. The solid seal to your face reminds of how a paintball mask will fog up after a little while of wearing them. You'll just have to keep a nice microfiber handy to clean your lenses.Overall though, I'm absolutely not switching back to the oem pad. Especially when people come over, and the headset is swapped around between people. 4Easy to clean. CAUTION if you sweat a lot! This is a great cover for the HTC Vive. It's easy to clean, easy to put on the headset and remove and brings you closer to the lens; I don't have a problem using it with my glasses either. It also makes me feel more comfortable using these for friends and family because it's so easy to clean.However... I do caution those who sweat lot or if your face gets way too warm (like during summertime).. DO NOT use this! After even 20 minutes of sweating/hot face there will be condensation buildup on the interior sides of the headset and your sweat could drip in the headset since there is no way it can absorb it with this faux leather material. This can easily damage your headset over time to where it will not function anymore. This is a good product, (albeit a bit spendy), especially if you would not be affected by my caution statement above. 4Reduces the Gross Factor of the Factory Foam Inserts They are very comfortable and don't feel like a soggy mess after playing physically intensive games for a long period. I bought these because my VR platform is mobile and I like taking it to various places and showing it off to friends and family, but after 30min of playing AudioShield or Space Pirate Trainer, the next person doesn't really want to put it on because the foam inserts it comes with are quite frankly, gross.I will say these do not fit perfectly, they take some effort to get them on just right and they stick out a little bit on the edges, but overall I am pleased with them. 4A snug fit I don't have the deluxe audio strap yet, and after putting this pad on and adjusting the straps, my Vive feels much more snug and comfortable to look around quickly in.The pad brings your face very close to the headset (giving a better FOV). It's narrow, so you have to take some time to perfectly line it up. I feel parts of my cheek resting against the headset itself, but it's thankfully comfortable.2 areas of discomfort that I fixed for myself:1. I have long eyelashes. Since the headset is so much closer, I felt them pressing against the lenses. I adjusted the lens distance by a notch or two, and the problem is gone, but I may have lost a tiny bit of the improved FOV.2. The nose pad was overlapping with the edges of this pad and causing discomfort. My nose is above average size, which may or may not have contributed to how uncomfortable it was, but it allowed me to take off the nose pad completely and wear the headset comfortably with almost no light leak. YMMVWith a little tweaking for different face shapes, this pad greatly improves the experience. I may update the comfort level when my DAS comes in. 5A nice replacement for the stock foam A nice replacement for the stock foam. But not without issues. Overall it improves the visual experience of the Vive with less light leakage and better FOV. But, at least for me, decreased the comfort of the headset.Pros--Noticeably improved FOV. Nothing major, but it's there.-Removed nearly all light leakage I was having with stock foam.-Very easy to clean.Cons--Not the perfect fit, sticks out a little on the sides.-Slightly more noticeable face pressure when compared to stock foam.-The bottom of the cover pressed painfully into my face, the edges of the cover provided a "sharp" feeling against my skin (upper cheeks) and felt rough. This is hands down my biggest complaint, it's bad enough that if I want to play for long periods I have to go back to the stock foam. Though my roommate doesn't notice it, so it must just be something with my face shape. 4
