Customer Reviews

They worked great for me!So I ordered two 50 pack boxes and used most of them. I didn t have any failures, and when I tested them with a good line tester they reported great results.I used these with Cable Matters Cat6, 23AWG, solid conductor wire. The Punch-Down Stand really helped me to stabilize the connecter when I was punching it down (I didn t usually have a nice hard surface nearby to use to hold the connector, but holding the connector in the stand and in my hand worked perfectly). On the type of punch down tool to use I would recommend the Krone type. Google krone punch block history germany and look at the images and read the articles, you ll see the design is Krone (contact slots are 45 degrees), not 110 (contact slots are 90 degrees). Here s what I did. I pulled on the internal cord in the cable until I had cut the cable to a little longer then the jack (pic1).I removed the jacket and cut the center core so it just fit inside of the jack. Why? The core helps to keep separation of the wires inside the jack and helps with strain relief (pic 2).I put the jack into the stand and trying to maintain twists and separation placed the wires in the correct slot with a finger (pic 3).I used the Krone non-cut blade (on the left) with the thin edge facing inside of the jack (to not press down on more then the intended wire) (pic 4).I pressed each wire into place all wires should snap down to the bottom of the slot (pic 5).I then reversed the Krone blade and used the cutting edge to lightly cut the edge off of each wire they turned out great (pic 6).Put the dust cover on and you re good to go. It s probably not the most efficient process, but for me the extra steps and care made for great connections.5Great buy, fast shippingA must have if you intend to install a network in your house or business! Great buy, fast shipping. Thanks!!5Need your own push-down toolThese are easy to install and the push-down plate is much easier on the hands than just holding the jack. You'll need your own push down tool, though, which is a little strange considering that all of the single packages come with a little plastic one that works fine for me. I guess they expect only professionals to be buying such a large pack. No matter, I already had one of the little plastic tools from buying a jack at a big box store.Wiring these is straightforward if you follow the instructions, and the ones I have installed speed test ok.4Won't fit in narrow-pitch keystone panelsGreat jack, inexpensive but too wide for narrow-pitch keystone panels that are 24 position across in a 19" rack panel. Found this out too late my first install with this jack. Minus one star for this.4I've installed quite few keystone jacks in my day and I really like these. The connection layout is simple and makes ...Spiffy! I've installed quite few keystone jacks in my day and I really like these. The connection layout is simple and makes installation simple sight checking really easy. Some jacks I've use in the past have more convoluted connection schemes (Leviton for example) but on these the pairs are on the same side, not split side to side, and each pair is in the same order (white to the back, solid to the front). These are the first CableMatters product I've used and I will definitely be using them again. The included punchdown stand is an excellent addition and really makes the installation much much easier. The only thing that is a problem for me is the individual packaging. The job I'm doing with these is about 150 jacks and opening all those packages gets a little tedious. I can see the packaging as being a plus on smaller jobs though so I'll not ding the product for that.5Withstands the test of timeThese are well-made, And extremely durable. If you're new to putting in a network, you will want something that can be wired and unwired easily and withstands the strain. Even experts make mistakes when wiring up networks. Actually, I have found everything that Cable Matters makes is of high quality.5Wide jack, causes some issues in certain installation situationsThese things work as expected, and individually they are a fantastic product. They are inexpensive when you consider they are in a pack of 50. But there's a pretty wide problem that will crop up in certain circumstances. These units are physically WIDE. Wider than any other keystone jack I have used (Monoprice, Leviton, some other brand I can't determine). When you are mounting this alone, or in a 2-keystone jack (top / bottom) plate, there are no issues, everything seems copacetic. In this scenario you're good to go, no worries, 5-stars all day long.Forward to some serious networking needs, and 6-keystone-plate or 12-unit-double-gang wall plates and try and put these side by side, especially in Monoprice wall plates, and the combination becomes a nightmare. These jacks are wider than anything I've ever used before. It's only a fraction of millimeter too wide, but there's no way to snap one of these right next to another one in some brands of keystone plates. I had some older Leviton plates that thankfully worked because the keystone holes were JUST far enough apart, but ran out of those before the end of my wiring project.Buyer beware, these are great, but not for certain wall plates in certain situations.2A quality jack at an amazingly low priceI'm a data cabling contractor, so I have a lot of experience with network jacks. I've used literally thousands of jacks of all brands (Panduit, Leviton, Hubbell, Siemons ). To cut some cost on a job, I tried these Cable Matters jacks. For $1 a jack, I thought I'd give them a try. Most other jacks I have used are $5-$7 a piece. I used about 200 of the Cable Matters jacks, and didn't have a single issue with them. The punch tool hand helper that comes with the jacks is really well designed. They are a little tight when snapped into the modular patch panel, but will work. For a residential job, these are a no brainer. And for a small commercial job, these are actually better than expected. Would totally recommend!5Good deal on high quality keystonesA good deal at about a buck apiece. Comes nicely packaged with each keystone in it's own sealed bag. Would probably work good at a retail location if you were selling them loose. Comes with a nice holder tool to make it a little easier as well as clear instructions. Good quality. works best with a punch with a cutter. The metal connections on the keystone are diagonal, so it might be a little hard to fish them into the right position without using a punch. Good if you want to do a professional job.5Doesn't fit a standard, modular, snap-in, keystone ...Doesn't fit a standard, modular, snap-in, keystone rack, patch panel. You have to buy Cable Matters special unloaded, modular, patch panel if you want to snap these things in correctly.3
