Customer Reviews

Seems to work great.I got this used for a great price here on Amazon. It's an incredibly solid unit and one of those things that you don't want to notice, so it does its job best by being quiet in the background. I got it for my recording rig after the venue I regularly play suffered some power outages and spikes during a gig. After reading up on these things, I decided to take it a step further than the standard Furman power conditioner and get a double conversion UPS. It's worked out very well and protected my recordings perfectly, especially when people have inadvertently unplugged my rig. There is no lag or dropout when it loses wall power because it's always converting the power to DC and back to AC.The only drawback I would say is the weight, but it's pretty light as far as these things go. A few years back I bought a much larger unit that has a higher capacity, but the draw back is that it's so big and such a pain to lug around that it ended up staying at home for most gigs. This is the perfect compromise as it handles all of the units I need to keep going during an electrical event but doesn't weigh a ton. So, certain parts of my rig end up unprotected, but it really doesn't matter if my monitor speakers go down during a recording. So, two thumbs way up.Tripp Lite also sent me two new rack ears free of charge when I gave them the serial number. Great customer service, especially for a used device! 5Excellent for Small Business Server RoomAt $150 or thereabouts, this UPS is perfect for a small business server room. I purchased this device to act as a surge protector and UPS for a Dell PowerEdge R210 rack-mount server, PowerConnect 2016 powered gigabit switch, Cisco RV220W gateway router, and an external RAID enclosure data backup device. The SMART500RT1U appliance comes with a small instruction manual that explains how to install and mount the hardware. It is very straightforward and it is worthy to note that the manner in which this device mounts to the rack is such that you do not need a tray to ensure it is secured (the mount point is at the device's center of gravity).Plug in the power cord, attach your devices, and power it up. It is really just that simple to get it functioning as a UPS with voltage regulation and noise protection. If you are like me and have had an electronic device fried by power fluctuations (I live in Florida and lightning storms are a daily occurrence), the $150 is a small price to pay to insure valuable equipment and data. In addition to the standard protection, this particular model also includes software and a USB connection which allows it to send a signal to your server telling it to shut down in regular order when the power goes out. This is important because these types of battery backups only last a couple of hours under medium to high load capacities before they too run out of juice and you have a sudden shut down which can cause damage and data loss. The last point I would make is before you order, make sure that you add up all the wattage and VAC requirements for everything you will attach to this device. This particular model supports 300 watts and 500 VAC. At max load, the devices I've attached to it fall just short so my setup should be fine. However, if you have a more robust server you should be looking at the higher capacity models in the 800 watts / 1000 VAC or above range. As a side note, Tripp Lite makes similar models that are non-rack mount for different setups, and this particular model converts to tower mount when you attach the arms in a different way. Good job, I'm very happy with this guy. 5I have had this thing working with brand new batteries ...I have had this thing working with brand new batteries then it does not work until it decides to,work again ... I can't seem to nail down the problem with it. After speaking with the Manufacturer I learned that this "refurbished unit" was actually 10 years old! 3Randomly turns offI have several of these and so far two of them have started randomly shutting down. One of them the battery lasted 3 months and then it goes down with any power interruption. The other just goes off for no reason. It now goes down 5 times a week. They are only running a single device (one a 16 port unmanaged switch and the other a SonicWall) so load is not a problem. I have an APC rack mount that is 10 years old and still runs perfectly. Think I should stick to APC. Not impressed with longevity. 1To save space & improve your WifI setup this is the best! This is my choice to made a dedicated rack to located the network devices in a nice house or small office. protect my equipment, give to me a extra time when the power is gone, normally came back enough fast to don't loose internet. Also I made a special setup to control the access time for the kids in my house and they can't touch nothing because the tripp lite 6U rack enclosure.https://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-Enclosure-Switch-Depth-SRW6UW/dp/B00DROZC04/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_2?crid=2TKUUZSPS2Q6&keywords=tripp+lite+6u+wall+mount+rack+enclosure+server+cabinet%2C+16.5&qid=1558982967&s=musical-instruments&sprefix=tripp+lite+6u+%2Cmi%2C151&sr=8-2-fkmr0 5High Quality, Consistent PowerThis is my second Tripp Lite UPS and I couldn't be happier. Between the two of them I'm running two Dell PowerEdge servers, two modems, and a Cisco managed switch. Load management is good and the ability to gracefully shutdown the servers in case of a power failure gives me peace of mind. 5and there was nothing to indicate anything obvious like perhaps foreign debrisI finally plugged in the UPS and it snap, crackled, and popped and caught fire! Smoke came pouring out of the thing. Opened it up, and there was nothing to indicate anything obvious like perhaps foreign debris. Seems like a short circuits; maybe a manufacturing defect. The batteries were plugged in properly, so no user error appears possible. 1Silent fan would be nice but otherwise excellentSo far my unit has been working great. The only problem is the fan is noisy. My original plan was to have the unit at the bottom of a portable rack of equipment but it's noisier than I would like especially for audio purposes. After a day I stopped even noticing it for normal work though.I wish this unit had a totally silent fan but that's certainly not typical so I won't take off any stars for that. Functionally, it's a great unit with excellent capacity in a compact 1U size. 5ReliableI have several of these UPS systems and they all seem to be very reliable. I have never had an issue with any of them, however they do run quite hot. If you intend to put this system in a rack, you'll definitely want to get the SNMPWEBCARD accessory so you can manage the system over the network. 5It still works after 4 1/2 yearsI charge it every 3 months if I'm not using it and I keep it in an Anvil rack so it is still like new. I find it is essential to protect sensitive electronic equipment at various locations where the power is not always ideal. I also like having a limited electricity source to charge a cell phone in an emergency if there is a power outage. 5
