Customer Reviews

Great product! Having recently started a Mcdougall no added oil diet, I thought I d have to say goodbye to potato chips forever. No so with this product! Chips come out crunchy, crispy and light. It does take some learning though. I find I can make two small potatoes in around ten minutes but after eight minutes I have to check every thirty seconds or so. When they turn light brown they re done. They re crisped to perfection and great for dipping or just snacking on on their own. 5Where Were These Things Years Ago?? Potato chips of my own making! Who knew?? This is terrific, I can make potato chips without all the salt and neuro-xylo-geewhiz-amine ingredients of the stuff in stores. It's really a no-brainer: I simply slice a raw potato with a mandolin-slicer and arrange the slices on the Chips Maker, stacking one tray atop another, then stick it in the microwave for 15min 17sec. I had to tinker with the timer a couple of times--with slices this thin, a couple of seconds is the difference between leathery and scorched. But now it's great! I can relax in the Great American Pastime of TV-hypnosis with a bowl of chips and a dish of salsa--without guilt, artery constriction, weight-gain through water retention, or even overeating: These trays don't hold all THAT much, but nonetheless, you realize that in a single chip session, you just ate two entire potatoes! Terrific things! Should have been invented decades ago! 5great buy!! These are great! I make chips in my pampered chef ones all the time and these are way cheaper than the pampered chef ones and they are exactly the same!! I read somewhere that this company is the one that makes the ones of pampered chef. I wish I would've found these before I had ordered my pampered chef ones, but oh well. I'm just glad I found them now. These will be my go to replacements, if and when they need to be replaced. I doubt they will though. The silicone is fairly thick and sturdy. It will sag a tiny bit when heated after use, but when washed and cooled off they go right back to being more taut. They haven't stained or gotten water marks or torn. I use them quite regularly (at least a couple of times a week) so I bought these to make bigger batches because these chips disappear really fast and I needed to be able to make more so I can actually sit and enjoy them instead of standing by the microwave the entire time making small batches and then eating them before the next batch is done. 5Works well, but you can't use 4 trays at once We previously had another style of chip maker, with the rack that holds each chip vertically, but that one melted in the microwave! So we bought the set like this but with the mandolin slicer to replace it, and it works pretty well. The chips cook a bit unevenly, so I swap the two trays over halfway through cooking. But the chips are generally good, and so much healthier! I like them just with sea salt, or also soaked in white vinegar with sea salt. NOTE: We bought these extra 2 trays so that we could use four at once, but then I read in the instructions not to use more than 3 stacked up. We tried with 4 but they took forever to cook and didn't turn out good. So it was a bit of a waste of time buying this extra pair of trays - only benefit is that we can prepare the next batch while the first ones cook. 5They work as advertised! Works great. A large plate with a paper towel on it would probably work just as well, though. I've only used it for making kale chips in our microwave and it works great for that. I actually got TWO, but find that using only one at a time works much better. So while "roasting" one tray I load the second tray and it's all ready to go when the first one is done. I have a feeling, too, that they will work GREAT in the oven for making baked potato chips. But that's going to have to wait until lit gets a little colder outside and cooking in the oven is more "practical" (gosh, it's been in the high nineties here for the last several weeks, and THAT is too hot for me to even THINK about going out back to grill over charcoal OR gas!). 5Unbelievably Crispy Chips - but be patient I really liked this chip maker and it really does work! I washed the trays and then sliced a russet potato with my mandolin slicer and after filling the tray I blotted the moisture off the tater chips and popped them in the microwave for 3 minutes, they were mostly done at the end of the 3 minutes but some were still in the chewy stage. I just added 30 seconds and they were fine.A bit different story with both trays going, it took probably 7 minutes all together but that is a whole lot less than 45 minutes in the regular oven! They don't make enough for a crowd and one potato took 4 trays to cook it all (about 15 minutes from start to total finish!) and I had a nice tasty and healthy treat to watch tv with!I would definitely recommend this product! 5Mats go on fire This is the 2nd set we bought. The first went on fire and the microwave went on fire as well. There is something wrong with these mats. There great when they work and harmful and dangerous when they go on fire. I called company and they said just return to retailer, they really don t take responsibility. When someone s microwave really goes on fire , you will have an issue. You should address this. 1Chips didn't cook!! Raw after 8 minutes. I have no idea how it's possible that this thing takes longer to cook potato chips than a baked potato?! After 8 minutes I stopped cooking the slices. All I had were see through, half raw potatoes. I finished them in the oven. I'm not using a product that takes 20 minutes to make a few chips. But if that's your thing, then I recommend it. 1Good but takes practice I do love the chips from this chip maker but it takes a bit of practice to not burn or under cook them. It varies a lot depending on how much you are making, one tray --two trays, etc. If you want an immediate snack, you'll be disappointed. But if you plan well for your evening snack attack these are great. I like to slice the potato ahead of time an put it in an airtight container. Then when I want a snack a few hours later I just place them on the trays. But I still have to wait 10min for two trays to cook. Great oil free, fat free whole foods snack though if you have a little patience. Tough to do sometimes when the rest of the family is already halfway through the bag of junk they tore open. 4Oh well I sliced my potatoes super thin and tried to cook em for 3-4 mins, they were raw and gross. So I cut them a little thicker and they were tough and chewy. So I cut them thin and did 8 mins-They burned. So I cut them think and did 6 mins and they werent cooked enough. I gave up. 1
