Excellent, high-output flashlight Everyone loves this light. It has significantly more light output than my 3D cell Fenix TK60, which is rated at 800 lumens. This light uses flat-top 18650 cells just fine. I bought the cool-white version, and I am glad. I would not want it warmer, and I see no blue hue. It seems very pure white to me - I like it. Finally, the build quality is excellent, and the lens is GLASS. It gets hot fast on high, so I am sure it has to reduce power pretty quickly. Well, the heat has to go somewhere, so a breeze will help. BTW, the Cree XP-L (V6) series LEDs are very efficient - almost 200 lumens/w, which is good for your battery life. Cree sorts the LEDs by brightness, and the V6 version is the best. You can look up the Cree datasheet and see for yourself. 5Awesome EDC flashlight! This light is super bright at the highest setting and the lowest setting is perfect for when you're camping and need just a touch of light to navigate around the tent at 3 AM to take a leak without blinding everyone when trying to exit the tent. I was walking through the woods late at night and the entire area lit up on the highest setting and I could see everything so clearly. It has 5 settings, six if you count the strobe. I normally use the medium (145 lumens) or high (370 lumens) which gives off plenty of light. The taillight cap is better in my opinion than a side switch because there will be no accidental turning on of the light when it's in your pocket. The side switch to cycle through the different light options is easy to use and to turn on the strobe, it only requires holding the side switch for a few seconds. The strobe would be good for blinding an attacker and is great for pissing off your friends when sitting around a campfire. This light is sturdy, waterproof, drop proof, very well built, and feels great in your hands. It also stands on it's end so it can be used as a candle to light up a room. I would definitely buy this again! 5ONE YOU WILL ACTUALLY CARRY -- GREAT VALUE. This is not the most expensive nor the brightest (but close) - it is the one that gets USED. The small size means it is carried a lot. The many options means it is used a lot. It is by far the best flashlight I have! The positive off button means it does not get accidentally turned on in a pocket. The ability to go from low to very bright and even strobe with a button push is great... This is a tactical light worth carrying. Why do police always have a bright light? It is essential to see what is going on in the dark. This is the light to have with you at all times -- and that tends to happen since it is so easy to carry. There are lots of disappointing and cheap lights out there --- this is one that does not disappoint for a very reasonable price. I wish I would have bought this first and not all the cheap junk 'too good to be true" - and all the claims. This is the real thing. 5... gave me a ThruNite T13 it's been ThruHell I LOVE THIS LITTLE LIGHT so much I wanted one that ... A friend gave me a ThruNite T13 it's been ThruHell I LOVE THIS LITTLE LIGHT so much I wanted one that supported a 18650 battery. So I ordered the ThruNite TN12 2016 XP-L Cool White EDC LED. A few. days later a ThruNite box arrived with a cheap knock-off inside. It was an Atactical - $19.95, I think. As bad as I want one of their throwers, I'm afraid of what might be in the box. I noticed when I ordered a OLIGHT or a KLARUS when I open the box, the light has the same brand name as what the box indicates. How could that happen? An Atactical light in a ThruNite box? They looked almost identical. Do they make them both in the same place? Could this have been a mistake? Anyway the light that I did not get to review, which is probably a really good light, gets one star. 1Great light, double check all of the threading when you first get it. One of the best lights I've ever owned. Now that it's properly working, I'm incredibly happy with it. Arrived with the central barrel section barely threaded into the head, and making intermittent contact. I spent far too much time buying all kinds of different batteries trying to figure out what was wrong with it, including contacting the manufacturer, who took over a week to get back to me. Check to make sure all the threaded sections are tight, and I'd rate it as a good buy. I was happy to see that it came with a belt holster, a replacement tailcap button, and two replacement o-rings. On the second day of regular use after owning it for a couple of months, I can so far highly recommend it. Do not use the Nuon brand batteries from Batteries Plus, they aren't able to put out enough current to properly supply the light.Update after a few months of use:Even happier with it than I was initially. Lives in my pocket. I swapped it out for a smaller light for a couple of weeks, but ended up going back, as the control interface was just so much better on this one. 5I bought over 3 of theses Love this flashlight. When I was working as a tech for NISSAN, this guy was the most used tool, it allowed me to look at everything and it was small enough to fit in anything.I dropped it everyday for years at different heights (I didn't use the supplied holister. I just put it in my pocket) and it still works until that one faithful day I left it in a customer car to never be seen again. But that no problem, I went ahead and bought 3 brand new ones for me and my family and they are still working til this day.Light output is great and I would recommend this flashlight to anyone. 5Failure to Launch Like the size, shape etc. but when I turned it on with freshly charged batteries I found one function did not work which was max. Strobe worked which is same brightness in fact ran strobe for 15 minutes just to sure. However once it went to max (steady) it would light for 30 seconds the first time and then dead off. Reset it using the tail switch but immediately switch off of max or it would go out in 12 seconds. I went with another at that point from Amazon and returned this one. I like the controls better of the another I got. The replacement likes max very well, happy it all worked out. 2A flashlight built for flashlight people. i am pretty picky when it comes to flshlights.. I am what you would call hard to please. This light checks all the right boxes. it is compact, powerful, easy to use, and well built. It is a little large for pocket use, but has a nice home in the door panel of my car. For having memory functions, I have found the parasitic load to be quite small. In fact, I have not had to charge the batteries yet( couple months of infrequent use). I was a little worried that because it did not have an orange peel reflector that it would not be smooth, but I have found it to have decently even and consistent pattern. A handheld spotlight this is not, there is no adjustable focus on this model so you have what they give you. What they give you is a nice compromise between a long reaching beam and a straight flood. The light is powerful enough where it still has a good reach without an adjustable beam. in the photo below, I played with my camera settings to make the light pattern and intensity as it appears to my eye. It is worth noting that the far wood line in the photo is over 50 yards away. This light has what they call firefly, or some call it moonlight mode. It is an extremely dim setting that is useful for not disturbing other people or I have used it a pinch for checking pupil reaction on EMS calls.A feature that really makes this light stand out to me is the fact that you can order it in natural white light. Many of the cheap led lights today have a very cool color to them, I suspect to wring out every last lumen. The warmer color of this light is indeed very natural and pleasing to the eye.Bottom line, despite not having a household name brand, this light is well built and a fantastic value. 5Best pocket light ever, very sturdy I have on the last three generations of the TN-12. This newest one does not disappoint. It's a little bit longer than I'm used to but it still fits in the pocket very comfortably. The addition of a button to cycle through the options is a nice new feature. One that I wished we had been in the previous models. That being said the ruggedness reliability and brightness of the previous models could not be turned down. For the amount of money these are the nicest lights I have ever owned. I am an EMT and have thoroughly abused these lights. They have been dropped and mud water and the last one was even run over by a fire truck. All survived flawlessly and I still carry the last one to this day in my backpack. It survived being dropped dozens maybe hundreds of times, being accidentally welded, and used in self defense once or twice. I have beat this light so hard I thought for sure it was broken. Nope, survives it all. I have seen much more expensive lights give out where this one survives, at 1/5th the price. If you want to light that will be the last one you ever have to own this is the one. The only reason I buy new ones is because I have co-workers that beg me for it and I give away the old ones eventually. My girlfriend is going to inherit the last one. And I look forward to many more years of service from this one. 5I tried to dislike it I tried hard to dislike this flashlight. First, it's not a Surefire and I've relied on that brand for years. I used a Surefire 6P with a LED mod in the desert and I use one now* to carry out interior and exterior inspections on aircraft. Second, the ThruNite has, in my view, a couple of design flaws. It lacks the hexagonal ring Surefire mills into the back of the 6P bezel, so the ThruNite will roll off any sloped surface. And, the mode selector switch at the front of the ThruNite is unprotected plastic. It's going to break, eventually. Why not protect it with a rubber cover as was done with the tail switch? And, who needs 5 levels of brightness anyway?Despite my initial observations, I've been carrying the ThruNite on the job for a couple of weeks and I like it. I attached the pocket clip so it's not going to roll away. Five levels of brightness? That's really pretty nice. Full bright matches my 6P and illuminates the top of an aircraft tail. Level 3 is perfect indoors. The rechargeable battery rocks and seems to last longer than a pair of disposable 123As in the 6P. The ThruNite is skinnier so it fits in a pocket a little better, and it's lighter at 4.9 oz versus 5.35 for the 6P.Surefire can certainly justify the 2x price for the 6P. It's a beefier light, it accepts filters and there's nothing on it that is going to fail in normal use. That mode button on the ThruNite is eventually going to break and I'm going to be peeved when it does. But it's a great light at $45. I just ordered a second one. 4
