Nice!!!Received yesterday and was well packed, comes with the adapter and works perfectly with my D3100, we need to set to manual and change the shutter speed (already saw some negative comments about getting pictures), google people before sending back, anyway amazing close pictures, I'm still learning how to use the manual mode (you can see by the pictures the lightning still need some work) but I'm happy so far.5Good lens but be aware of limitationsGood lens, particularly given the price point. It s not equal (or even close) to Nikon glass by any means, but neither is the price. But, if you need something with long reach for stationary subjects on sunny days, this is worth it. Takes acceptably sharp pictures, and if you are sharing them online in FB or I-gram, this will most likely be plenty good.As others have mentioned, you will need a good, stiff tripod. This is a long and heavy beast, and you really have to work to keep it from shaking, especially with the doubler. Plan on using remote shutter release. However, this lens has significant limitations if you plan to print your pictures. Looking at a 100% view, there is significant purple fringing, and the image is somewhat softer at the edges at f/8, but gets better at smaller apertures. The focusing ring is quite stiff, which makes nailing the focus pretty challenging. The lens is really unforgiving with focus at f/8, again better at smaller apertures. My t-mount originally resulted in the lens being upside down, but there are two set screws that you can loosen to get it lined up properly. The fringing can be corrected in LR, but be aware that there is no Adobe lens profile, so you will have to manually correct it each time. You can create custom lens profiles, and if you plan to use it a lot, you will most likely want to go through that exercise.Overall, this can be a good addition to your kit, if you are aware of the limitations.3Good inexpensive manual telephoto lensI think this lens is well worth the price, as long as you understand what you are buying. It is strictly manual. You have to focus and set the arperture yourself. Focusing is a bit tricky. You have to have a good clear view in the viewfinder or the live display to do it well. You need very slight movements on the focusing ring to achieve sharp focus.I am not totally new to manual camera operation, but am definitely in the learning stage. In my test session today, I had the camera mounted on a tripod on my back deck, in the sunlight. It was hard to see the camera's display and even hard to use the viewfinder. Those circumstances are not the fault of the lens, but do make operation more difficult. I had some success, as seen in the attached photos. The 1000 mm photo definitely could have used a higher ISO and/or a slower shutter speed, to increase the exposure. My primary interest in buying this lens was to get some better moon shots. I have not yet tried moon shots with it. I have seen some in reviews of this lens by others, and they did well. This lens is not designed or intended for low light. You have to get into a much more expensive lens to get low light capablility in a telephoto.Overall, I am pleased so far. This type of lens is a bit of a challenge to use, but is fun to experiment with. An equally strong automatic lens would be way beyond my budget.I just added a shot of the moon, taken on 3-19-19, using the 2x teleconverter for 1000mm setup. On my APS-C camera, that's equivalent to 1500mm. The shot was brightened a bit in the computer and cropped somewhat. Otherwise, no post-processing. I'm still learning with this lens.4Very glad I took a chance on this low-cost lens as it greatly exceeded my expectationsFor the money this lens and the accessories cannot be beat. The images I get from it are quite acceptably sharp at 500mm and with the extender at 1000mm. I took the photos with the lens mounted on a tripod attached to my Nikon D7200, one at 500mm and the same at 1000mm shooting from a hill in Mt. Feake Cemetery in Waltham, MA across the Charles river, about a kilometer from the subject. I manually released the shutter and the tripod was not really rock solid so I could have induced some movement. I am thinking now of purchasing a 2nd adapter for the Nikon to make switching to and from the teleconverter more convenient. The only real criticism I have is that I would have liked the lens shade to attach more securely as it can be dislodged fairly easily.5Too bad the attachment ring isn't moveable because when you add ...You get what you pay for but I was pleasantly surprised. I did some long distance wildlife shots and they turned out quite well. I just need to refine the set-up. Two must haves are a rock-solid tripod or equivalent and a remote. Too bad the attachment ring isn't moveable because when you add the 2x adapter it throws off the balance. As far as it being a manual lens, I was brought up with manual lenses so it was no big deal.4Blew me away!Excellent, especially for the price. I have a Nikon D5500. I took the included moon photo yesterday hand-held sitting on the ground.I tried the magnifier to get 1000mm, and even in bright sunshine there was significant vignette effect. It looked cool, but I would rather use it at 500mm and zoom in on the image. For comparison, the automated, auto-focus versionnod this lens can run $16,000.!!! This one is totally worth the money. I plan to use it for the upcoming solar eclipse!5Excellent Value for MoneyThis lens was better construction than I expected. I read some other negative reviews, and in my opinion the purchasers were extremely unreasonable in there expectations. Admittedly I have only used it for some test shots, but they came out fine. Remember, this is a very inexpensive 500 - 1000 mm lens. A comparable Nikon is over $10,000. Keeping that in mind, remember that for any lens of this length the viewing angle will be very narrow, and the lens unwieldy enough to require a tripod for anything like a stable platform. Unless you set it up extremely well beforehand, taking live action shots (i.e. basketball shot indoors) will be almost impossible. This lens has none of the bells and whistles that you get if you pay $5,000 -$10,000. You will also need to be familiar with the fully manual setting, since this lens does not 'talk' to your camera.Having said all that, based on the few test photos I have been able to take, even on very overcast/rainy days, this lens exceeds my expectations. It is solidly made, (appears all metal construction), I see no obvious distortions even at 1,000mm. I will be taking it to Colorado soon, so will write another review when I have had a better chance to evaluate its performance.5It could be better but you get what you pay forIt could be better but you get what you pay for. Overall it's not bad. You must use a fine touch and have a strong tripod while focusing and shooting. Just be careful not to tighten the F mount adapter to the end of the teleconverter too much or the inside thread of the teleconverter will unscrew and get stuck inside your mount adapter, if that happens you can't use the F mount adapter with just the 500mm lens until you get it out which can be very hard depending on how hard you tightened it. You have been warned! That happened to me and it was very hard to get out, I had to use pliers.Having a 500/1000mm lens for $100?? Can't complain with that though! Having that kind of zoom compared to not having it makes it all worth it, even if the lens is sub par. For the money it's great.4... of this caliber and for the price this was great find especially since other lens I have seen range ...I have always wanted a lens of this caliber and for the price this was great find especially since other lens I have seen range are hundreds of dollars more. I can't hike as long as others due to several physical disabilities nor get close enough with this lens getting closer to my subject ( usually birds, wildlife, insects ) is now easier. I LOVE IT!5GET THIS NOW GUYS!!!SWEET! - This is built like a rock...nice work to the builders. Has some weight to it. On the Nikon D3300 (and similar) the aperture will gray out because you manually have to set the aperture on the lens...this is no biggie if you are a photography veteran. You 'CAN' shoot without a tripod and get sharp images...just stick to the rule: SHUTTER SPEEDS GREATER THAN FOCAL LENGTH.5
