Good adapter but included hardware could be better I bought one of these to mount a StarTech 3.5 inch card reader into a 5.25 bay in my case. It isn't bad, and ultimately did what I needed it to do, but the ears for the screws are so thick, and the standard device screws so short, that I had a very difficult time making them work at all, and even at that they only catch maybe one thread. I seem to remember the case mounting screws being silver instead of a matching black as well, which even though they are only visible when working inside the case, are definitely on the list to be replaced with black screws. It worked, but could easily have been a lot better with just a penny or two's worth of more suitable screws, especially given that the thickness of the plastic makes the need for longer than the standard screws that come with the device from the same company it was intended to be used with almost certain, and because modern black adapters should be mounted with black screws. 3Works great in Antec 300 case This mounting kit does the job to convert a 5.25" bay into a 3.5" one. I used it to add a USB 3.0 hub to the front of my Antec 300 case.Installation was easy with the included screws, the plastic is sturdy and doesn't have any flex to it on the front panel. Recommended. 5Worked perfectly for me, but realize it is cheap Chinese hardware! I like this bracket, it's going to do exactly what you want it too if you're mounting a standard 2.5" 7mm SSD.In my opinion for what it's worth, the manufacturing tolerance is just a bit on the low side so the first SSD is held snugly in place while you put the flush head screws in the bottom. Mounting the second drive opened up the bracket just a enough that I had to hold the drive in place while trying to get he round top screws with nylon washers in. I did not have a hard time with this. You must use the nylon washers for the screws for the second (top) drive are too long. Also included were four case mounting screws.It's cheap Chinese made but will do the job nicely for the price! They could include another set of flat top screws for mounting the second drive and they could do a bit better job sanding the rough edges and sharp corners but other than that, for the price, it's just what I needed. 3Buyer Beware - not a suitable solution for all applications! I have several issues with this mounting device: 1. It does not install well in a Corsair Carbide Series 100R case. While the fit and color match are acceptable. The tool-less design of the Corsair case does not hold the bracket securely and there is resulting movement in the bracket (and device installed in it) with regard to the front of the case. 2. The supplied mounting screws actually bite into the plastic bracket. This is sort of OK if you install the bracket once. However, if you want to put the bracket (and attached device) into a different computer or drive bay, the screws will likely strip out of the plastic. In addition, if you are heavy handed with the screwdriver, you risk striping the plastic as well! 3. The mounting tabs to hold the 3.5 inch device are thick plastic and, therefore, you will need extra long screws to mount the 3.5 inch device to this bracket. In my case, I had to dig into my collection of computer screws and find suitable alternative screws.None of these issues are total "deal killers' by themselves in all cases, however, the buyer needs to be fully informed of these issues prior to purchasing the item. While this item might work for some applications, it was a poor solution for my application. I will have to look further for a good long tern solution for my application. 25" HDD and an optical drive like a notebook (push the drawer in to open it) I bought this for a new Dell 3268, really SFF box, as an 'in case' part. The 3268 appears to be a notebook MB, as it the smallest case I have seen: it takes has room for only one 3.5" HDD and an optical drive like a notebook (push the drawer in to open it), 2 RAM, and 2 Pci-e slots. BUT 3 SATA connectors?! This bracket allows mounting two (2) notebook HDDs in place of the single 3.5" drive. This kit comes with bracket, screws to mount it and two HDDs, power connector, and SATA cables. I tried it with two notebook HDDs, and all worked fine. ONE OF THESE DAYS ALICE, ONE THESE DAYS!! you will want this. (homage to Jackie Gleason) 4Won't Fit in a 'Be Quiet! Silent Base 800' Case Nicely Like most people, I got this to convert a 3.5" USB 3.0 plate to an open 5.25" bay. The converter wiggles around the bay slot until you screw it in tightly (obviously). The problem is that the converter doesn't have a screw hole on the right front like it does on the left front (like an ODD has), so I had to drill a pilot hole in the plastic to secure it properly.The face of the converter is a little wider than a regular ODD. When the left side is flush, the right side spills over, and vice versa (see picture). My front bezel wouldn't go on until I filed the converter down. I doubt it's my case to blame, since the drives fit fine. And I *know* it's not the way I secured it. (Trust me on that one.) 1Used to install Card Reader I used this bay bracket to install this card reader into a micro ITX machine:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GAKX34E/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1All of the methods with which to secure the card reader to this bay was on one side. Therefore, it would allow the card reader to jiggle in place. In order to keep the card reader from jiggling while a user inserts a memory device, I had to tape it down in place.I would recommend going with another product if possible, but if there are no other options, this will do the job. 3Affordable, durable and easy to install. Worked very well to install a USB 3.0 front panel hub in an HP Pavilion PROS:* Affordable and well built* Plastic construction seems to be durable, yet flexible* Thick enough that it shouldn't easily break, but my all my screws I had fit ok.* Had all the holes where I needed them which is always a plus* Comes with four mounting screws to mount the adapter to your case. (You provide the screws needed to mount your drive or other device to the adapter. These mounting screws typically come with your drive, front panel hub, card reader or whatever else you're installing)* 2 Year Warranty* The black color matches my Anker USB 3.0 hub and case perfectly.CONS:There really isn't much I'm displeased with, but here are a few things worth mentioning.- There is a slight gap around the Anker USB hub I installed in this. Not major, but if you're expecting a very tight "force it in" fit you might not get it with all devices. I'm worried it might let some dust in but time will tell.- I've read some people have issues with the plastic being too thick for their drive mounting screws. I mention it here but had no issues myself. If there is any issues I suppose you could always get longer screws, remove any washers, or countersink holes slightly if you need to make short screws work.- This is plastic so if you force things I'm sure it will break.- The mounting screws to mount the drive adapter to the case are those sort of "self-tapping" screws or sheet metal screws that chew into the plastic to make their own threads and secure the plastic. In my experience these work fine a few times, but the plastic typically won't hold up if you constantly remove and reinstall them. If you're one of those people that constantly changes things around and builds new computers from existing parts it's something to be aware of. I'm sure you'd have to remove and reinstall this adapter many many times before you chewed the plastic up so much the screws wouldn't hold.Product Dimensions:8Height 1.1 in [28.6 mm]Length 5.7 in [146 mm]Width 5.3 in [133.4 mm]..MY EXPERIENCE:I purchased this to install a USB 3.0 front panel hub to add USB 3.0 ports to the front of a computer. It worked nearly perfectly for this use. The USB 3.0 front panel was being installed in an unused 5.25" optical drive expansion bay on a retail HP computer. I needed a 3.5" to 5.25" drive adapter that looked great but had a low profile face and didn't stick out very far. This was necessary to allow the USB ports to be tucked back behind a drive bay door cover to maintain a stock appearance while still providing access to the ports.This mounting adapter fit fine in the stock OEM case's 5.25" drive bay and mounted without issues. The adapter comes with 4 screws to mount it to your case's drive bay. Since this was a stock OEM HP case you can't easily remove one side and so I could only use two of the mounting screws but that's all that is necessary to keep things from sliding around.The ANKER USB 3.0 front panel hub fit with some room to spare. The USB front panel hub doesn't completely fill the hole for the 3.5 inch drive so there is a slight gap around the hub sides and top between the USB hub and the adapter. It's not a huge gap, it looks somewhere between 1/32" to 1/16", but it's enough to notice light and see through when out of the case. When everything is installed in the case I don't really notice the cap at all. This doesn't bother me. Since this is a "one size fits most/all" adapter you can't expect a light tight perfect fit. I could have evened up the gap between the bottom and top by using some washers as spacers on the bottom mounting points. I also could have used some sort of black trim on the inside to really seal this off but I didn't take the time. I'm a little worried about how much dust the gap would let in but this install hides behind an HP optical drive bay expansion bay door cover. The gap doesn't bother me much but I thought I'd mention it. I'd much rather have a little extra room and NOT need to get out files, grinders or sandpaper to make things fit so I won't complain.I didn't have any issues with mounting things up. Screws were just long enough to safely secure everything. It doesn't take much. We're not bolting down jet engines here ;)I'm uploading plenty of images but there really isn't much more to say. Based on the price, fit and final appearance I can definitely recommend this adapter. 5Solid Build... Poor Design Solid build. It fits well in my 5.25" bay. My only problem is that the mounting bracket, where you mount your 3.5" device. The plastic is too thick and a lot of pressure was needed just to get a few threads in to hold my device in place. In fact, I could not get the final screw in because of the tension that was created screwing the device in on the opposite side. 3Excellent!! Despite some of the reviews about this product being loose or not fitting in the chassis correctly I gave it a shot to install my SD card reader in my premium Chassis. I can say that those reviews are wrong, I had no issues installing this and I have no issues with it not fitting properly or being loose. The self latching clamps fit like a charm and you have to use the screws provided by your chassis to secure it on the other side. No Issues what so ever and would recommend this product to anyone. 5
