Good shelfAlmost sent it back due to the depth and my miscalculation of how much depth I'd have to work with, but then looked at my layout diagram and realized I had accommodated it, just 1U lower - lol. Mounts right up, screws, washers and cage nuts included. Seems more solid than my rack rails. I don;t have anything "heavy" sitting on it, just non-rack-mountable Ubiquiti items; 3p router, 8p POE switch, 1st gen cloudkey, but it's solid enough I could probably put 50lbs on it and it'd not blink...my rails however probably would warp a bit. 4Thicker steel & better machining and than you'd expect for the priceRack itself is very solid. My one quibble is the weight rating seems optimistic for racks that *don't* use cage nuts: I wouldn't trust the threading of the screws alone to counteract the cantilevered torque. Would be nice if they provided a standard fastener to hold securely against the bare rack ears. 4High quality, front lower lip interferes with the space below, so this might be effectively a 3U unit.This is one of those cases where what you get is exactly what you'd expect, from what you see on the web, other than that it's sturdier with thicker steel than I had expected for about $30. It comes with the little thingies (sorry) you put in the square holes so that you can use the screws to anchor it, and they go in more easily than any other I've used, which was a nice plus. Once all 4 screws are in, it feel really sturdy.There are a couple of things that I would change if I could:1) The lip on the front, while I understand strengthens the unit and prevents flex, also blocks the upper part of the space below it. Because I didn't have a server below the 2 unit space I was putting this in, it didn't matter, though the "filler bar" won't go back in. I suspect that if I had a server in the space below it, that I wouldn't be able to pull the server out without removing this. I'm not sure of that.2) I'd have like to have had a raised lip on the back. Nothing sharp that would dig into wires, but something blunt that would prevent anything from rolling off and perhaps this would eliminate the need for the lower lip in the front.Those things aside, this is a nice piece, well made for the money, and I'm not sorry I have it. 4Perfect fit for 2U Dell R720 Server!Perfect fit for our Dell PowerEdge R720 in our 19" 2-post rack. Our rapid-rails that came with our server did not have the sliding center bracket for the 2-post rack .. so this was a great solution for getting it mounted. 5This is not the shelf you previously ordered.I had purchased a 42u rack a few years back & 9 shelfs to hold all my stereo components, rack & shelf all smooth flat powder coated. Used my order history to purchase another shelf for new component. Shelf arrived & was not powder coated, the shelf was glossy black with a crackle pattern & rubbery texture & paint is soft. Shelf also had sharp protrusion's from when it was stamped. Protrusion on front left side, could be a hazard to cut ones self. The product picture showed the previous shelf's I ordered, shelf I received is completely different. I have shelf's that are powder coated vs. something acrylic spray paint. Shelf's that have clean edges vs. a shelf with sharp protrusion's. If I installed, you'd say hey that shelf is different, It would standout. I even paid a few dollars more for shelf then previous & was sent an inferior product. If my original order was of this quality the rack that is in my living room would not be their, I would have returned it. So impressed, we purchased a 2nd Shelf.1st Shelf installed in Wiring Closet houses Cable Modem & Router mounted above Switches & PoE Injector.2nd Shelf was mounted in Mobile Audio Rack. Non Rack Mount Audio Mixer needed a Shelf. We used (4) - 1 inch Velcro strips to strap wrap the Mixer to the Shelf. Perfect!This shelf is firm and stable. Vented Shelf was useful to dissipate heat in Wiring Closet and allowed strapping in Mobile Audio Rack to hold Non Rack Mount Audio Mixer. To eyeball strap location, on shelf for Mixer, we used Blue Painters Tape to layout sides of Mixer on Shelf.For mounting - We used different Rack Screws than what came with this Shelf - Raxxess PTSW25 Rack Screws with Washers (Pack of 25). 5works fineSteel rack shelves are pretty ordinary items and hard to screw up. These are well made, well painted, and fit a standard rack just like shelves costing 3x as much. You have to be either doing too well, or just overcharging customers to pay big bucks for the same gauge steel in a rack shelf. 5The shelf isn't a full 2UThis is a very nice and sturdy shelf. However I was a little disappointed when I unpacked it and realized that the shelf opening isn't actually 2U high. The opening only measures 3 1/4", making it about 1/4" shorter than expected. The whole unit is 2U, but the shelf sits a little higher than the bottom lip. It is still fine for what I'm doing. 4PerfectI bought this when I was putting my audio recording rack together, never anticipating that I would use it until my rack mounted surge protector/battery backup arrived, it is a BEAST. The cantilever shelf rack to the rescue! not only supports all the weight of the surge/battery unit, it's vented so it also allows for maximum cooling. What a great buy! 5Solid.Solid. 2U with 4 attach points on each side. Back lip welded. Just what I needed for a super-heavy Yamaha MX-A5000 amp (56 pounds) that lacked a rack mount kit.Pros:* Heavier gauge steel* No flaws noted* Welded back lip (adds rigidity where you need it most!)* Good attach pointsCons:* None.
