Customer Reviews

Not the exact Item shown Slightly misleading. The photos show a gray plastic wire containing the SPDIF connectors. I DID NOT GET THAT. I got what is pictured aside of this review, but not the pics shown when searching to buy the item. The item works and send out audio the same as the gray wire, but I was looking for the gray wire. I'm not returning, as the only other choice seems like it's double the price, but I didn't want to use the back plate. While it takes me 2 minutes to write this, returning a 15 dollar item is not worth the effort, and I think the people selling this know that. GOOD DAY SIR! 3Very pleased to have optical since my MB didn't have it ... Just what I needed. My MB had a 2 pin layout for SPDIF. I checked online MB manual to confirm which pin was SPDIF and which was ground. I plugged the brown wire to the SPDIF pin and the black wire to the ground pin. Then I took the red power wire and plugged to the power pin from an unused USB header (check your MB pin layout). Make sure 100% you know which pins are correct or you'll cause damage. I had to remove the 4 pin plastic from the wires and use the 3 individual ones. Use an extra small flat head screw driver or similar to lift up the plastic edge that holds the pins in and pull them out. Then slip on the single ones and your ready to attach to the pins. Then of course install the bracket in an open spot. My MB only used 3 of 4 brackets so I used the 4th open one as that left the other 3 available for the MB cards (PCI, PCIe & Video). Very pleased to have optical since my MB didn't have it but did have the pins. Was a little worried about my layout being 2 pins but worked fine. A few others have posted similar. If you miss wire you'll have damage so be careful. 5like mine, do not have a ground or +5v ... This does exactly what it says. The important thing to do is to make sure that you find the pin diagram for you motherboard since some, like mine, do not have a ground or +5v pin in the same set as the SPDIF IO pins. In my case, there was an unused +5v pin nearby for a USB connector and that worked perfectly. 5Easy as Pie! The piece installed very easily and worked great, I had initially had a problem getting any audio out of my system but after an email to the seller and a little more research online it turned out the error was between the chair and the keyboard. It was listed as compatible with several motherboard brands and i had an MSI one but it turned out there were several versions of this particular board and images of where the SPDIF header was was a bit distorted. So research, research, research but the product defintiely works and is a simple fix for those needing a digital audio out. 5Coaxial & Optical Out My XFX Geforce motherboard in my media center computer did not have a digital audio output bracket but had the pin connectors on the board. The manufacturer did not know where I could get such an bracket. This bracket was delivered with extra end caps for different motherboard configurations; shown in the product photo. I was able to easily reconfigure the wiring from the default wiring with a small screw driver to the one that matched my system by following the diagrams shown on the diagrams associated with the bracket's listing page and the tech data from the motherboard. There are just three conductor wires: 2 carry the digital audio signal for both optical and coaxial connector, the third carries power only required for the optical output. It would have been nice if a wiring diagram was supplied with the bracket, though I just had to check back to the web listing diagrams on Amazon's webpage to figure it out. 5Works perfectly. Works perfectly on ASRock J3160DC-ITX motherboard. Be sure to ask for extra two-pin and one-pin plugs for this board. Take 5+v from extra front USB header. 5Adapter for Sound output from SPDif pins on motherboard Most Computer motherboards now are provided with integral audio that includes a 2 pin connection on the motherboard for outputting surround sound 5.1 (5 speakers), but they don't provide the connector to get it to a amplifier. This adapter works very well and can be purchased with ether a RCA female connection or an optical connector, be sure you obtain the correct adapter. Then watch the DVD movies with great background sound. 5Exactly what I needed for coaxial digital out Easily and cheaply enabled me to take advantage of the S/PDIF pins on my mobo for digital music listening to my Modi Multibit DAC. I wanted coaxial digital out to avoid the little issues of USB and this worked like a charm. 5Works great, be careful of the wiring. This claimed to be the same pinout as my MSI H55M-E33 in my HTPC but after hooking it up smoke came out. I sat down and looked at the pinout in the motherboard manual and this and the white and red wires were reversed, so I switched them. Sadly I cooked the optical transceiver in this, but the spdif still works, and luckily I didn't cook my motherboard. After I switched the wires and got the SPDIF connected to my receiver I was thrilled to see the magic DTS-HD Master light up and the room filled with sound. The great thing about PCM through spdif is that it isn't processed in the computer, but inside the receiver so you get no sound degradation along the way.MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THE WIRING. 4Works as advertised in a Mythbuntu system If your spdif header on the motherboard doesn't have three pins, it's designed for an unpowered coaxial output (RCA cable). In that case, to get the optical out, all you need is +5 v. I took mine from an unused usb header. This comes with several connectors and you are expected to swap the pins from the installed 4 pin connector to what ever combination you need for your system. It's not hard to do, but you MUST ensure you understand the pin-out of your motherboard to connect this correctly. 5
