Customer Reviews

A hassle, but it got the job done. These don't have enough of a cut out inside to prevent them from going onto the connector too far. The end result is that when you go to plug in the connector and use the boot to push it into place, you can't get the plug far enough in to click it into place. You have to slide the boot down or use the cable itself to push the plug into place properly. I found that I had to apply a piece of vinyl electrical tape to each RJ45 end before sliding the boot in place to keep it from going to far up the connector. 2Good and tight fitI am trying to find more words to describe my experience with these boots, but it is somewhat difficult. The items arrived on time, actually before schedule. They work fine and fit snug around my cables, although the boot could be a little shorter so it does not push the latch and unwanted disconnection occurs.Other than that the price was right.UPDATE:After making a few cable using these boots, it seems that the latch covering is too tight.I have connector disconnecting from network devices such as NIC'S switches and routers, just from the weight of the cable.I started to trim the latch covering away and the connector stay latched.CONCLUSION: The boot is too tight in the area of the connector latch release lever. 5Work great...They do exactly what I needed them for and have had no issues. They showed up quick and didn't cost much. The only thing I've found that could be an issue for some people is that they are a little stiff. I've found it easier to try and get my finger to the release tab around the boot instead of bending them. This would not be ideal for the end of a travel type cable is all. I've come up with a solution and will add a picture to go with this. If you just cut a little triangle in the base of the dome that covers the release tab. Then it is a lot more flexible to depress and still stops things from snagging and ripping of the locking tab. 5A little modification needed for 23AWG STP cable, but that is expected...Used these on a Cat-6 23AWG STP (Shielded Twisted Pair) cable which is thicker than your normal 24-26AWG UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair) cable so I did have to make the hole bigger by using a drill bit, twisting it in & out by hand a few times to shave some rubber off. This was easy to do (about 5 seconds for each boot) and they slid on the cable fine after that. My crimp ends now look professional. Nice product, great price. 5Excellent product, if you need it.These are a 'value added' item added to connections that you may often disconnect and then move around. They keep the plastic spring clip from catching on something and breaking. If you are creating connectors that are rarely if ever disconnected, and, more importantly, never moved, you don't need these. But, if you do move the cable around, and, most importantly, pull it through other cables, these are the ticket.Must be installed before the connector, or run down the cable from the other end before that connector is installed. 4RJ45 Blue Strain Relief Boots (50 Pcs Per Bag)Bought these to work on a project with new CAT 7A outdoor cables but found out that the CAT 7A cable was too large for the RJ45 connectors which the boots were going to cover. Oh well, but the strain relief boots fit the RJ45 connectors like a glove. So instead of sending them back, I donated them to my sons for their systems. Nothing goes to waste around here. The boots arrived quickly and in great condition, as usual. Thanks again Amazon for another job well done. 2Cheap, Stong, Highly effective little components!Being an uptight kind of nerd I like mike cables not only wired right, but pretty. I also find myself more often then not really cranky when a crimp fails because someone had the cable bound too tightly and pulled free.I really like these units for a couple of reasons.PROs:1. Cheap2. Effective.3. Very clean professional look.4. I will prep my patch cables offsite using black CAT6 and validate them, never had an issue.5. Support these shields give a lot of support to the most vulnerable part of the cable, the connecting crimp. They protect from snags and broken clips, bending and pulling (limited protection), and greatly clean the look of the install.Cons:1. Only so many in a bag!2. This does not make cables "stupid proof"3. This can make it a little more difficult to remove a jack as its more difficult to depress the release tab, but since part of the job of these things is to prevent accidental disconnections, Im OK with that.If you have any questions about my experieces with these things email me:jim at jimshride dot com. 5They workSo I've been reluctant to buy strain reliefs for awhile mostly because I wasn't sure what to get as I've read both good and bad reviews on just about every brand. I was afraid they'd be too loose or look to cheap. I've only made a few Cat5e cables and I wanted to start making them look more professional when I sell them to friends so I decided to shell out for these thinking they were a fair price for a bag that would last me awhile. They feel a bit cheap but they look okay and they fit like a glove on my bulk CablesToGo Cat5e stranded wire and it feels sturdy enough that I highly doubt it would come off under normal use. The only downside is the build quality leaves a bit to be desired and it won't look as good as store bought cables but it certainly does the job and nobody seems to notice the cheap rubber. I posted some pics for anyone curious as to how the finished product looked on my cables. All around I'm satisfied with my purchase knowing these fit my cables would probably buy again. 4My wire is better than your wireThis allows me to purchase a role of wire, cut my own length, and have a professional wire whose male ends will not have a broken little tab somewhere down the road. You know the one that keeps falling out of your network slot. Plus it makes networking wire so much cheaper than finished wire. That's all I'll get now. No more $1.00 per foot wire. But make sure you get the right ends with it. The ones with the holes so when you load the wire into the plug you can do it one color at a time. It allows you to thread the wire like a needle and thread. 5Strain a little harder for me....I have had to create a large amount of cables as I am wiring up my house in a smart home configuration. These boots are cheap yes, but they are not as nice as some other stress relief boots. They are a bit difficult to work with and are rather stiff when depressing the tab on the RJ-45 jack. I bought them because they were so cheap, but I think if I were to purchase boots again, I'd spend the extra money and get softer / nicer ones. 2
