Customer Reviews

Great price, great product and material, highly recommendI used the cat6 cable to run from my modem to my computer. I only needed about 15 ft or so but we're always moving our livingroom around so I ordered one that could reach all the way across the room. I plugged it into the modem and to the PC and that's it I was ready to surf, the connectors seem better then most meaning the tab that locks it in place hasn't broken off yet so that's a plus, and the price was great to way better then the stores around Sioux falls. 5Works well - cheap price. This cable does what it is supposed to do, carry signal to other computer. I've seen higher quality cable with better outer skin, but at the end of the day, all I need is the signal from router to reach the computer on other end and vice versa - in that regard, this cable did the job and at a very low price.I was having intermittent problems with the wireless card in my wife's computer in the other room. I decided to hardwire her computer for the internet connection. Calculated that I needed 40-50 feet of cable to run along the wall, through the closet walls, into the other room, around the baseboards and into her computer. I drilled the holes in the walls, fed the cable through, connected to her computer and to the router in my office, removed her wireless card, turned her computer on, and voila - she was instantly connected to the internet. So far after a month or so, no problems.I deducted 1 star because the blue skin of the cable is very thin, and when bent, turns white. Shouldn't be a problem since there is no reason to disturb the cable now that it is in place. But, I would have preferred a better, heavier skin that resisted kinking. This cable has the potential to kink and if done repeatedly, may have potential to weaken or break a wire inside the wrap. Just handle with care and you should have no problems. For the price, you can not go wrong.I always measure the distance I need and add about 5-10 feet.... nothing is worse than coming up 1-2 feet short! 4Great Snagless Cat 6 Ethernet CableI bought this ethernet cable to connect my internet modem and router for my computer which are always either side by side or one laying on top of the other. One of the plastic clips broke on one end and naturally it wouldn't stay in. The one I had was a regular Cat 5 or Cat 5e that was not clip snag free and was 3 ft long which was way too long for two boxes next to each and it was always getting tangled with the other modem, router, and computer wires. I decided to get as small an ethernet cable as I could get this time, and was glad to find 1 ft ones here on Amazon. I was not looking to buy a Cat 6 (way overkill for use) or a snag free one (major pain to pull out), but this one was the best value of the 1 ft ethernet cables at the time of this review. I was additionally hesitant none the less on getting this, because the most recent review below me said he didn't get the actual product in the picture from the seller. Well the one I got looks exactly like the picture. It also as a bonus is a snag free end ethernet cable (which is not in the product title or description) which usually costs more. It also is not one of the major pain to get out snag free ethernet cables I hate. The plastic tab to prevent the plactic clip from getting snagged and snapped is actually soft and flexible enough to still be able to depress the plastic clip to release the ethernet cable. The product works great and notice an improvement in the devices. Product came quick from seller. 5I would not recomend this cableThe cable works fantastic in terms of transferring data. I would not recommend this product to anyone that owns a laptop or anyone that would be needing to disconnect the cable whatsoever. Whoever designed the disconnect on this cable did a horrible job. This cable is a nightmare to disconnect the second time I tried to disconnect it from my laptop, it got stuck in my Ethernet port. It will not come out. Now I have to transport my laptop with a 5 foot cable sticking out the back. Im sure it has already destroyed my eithernet port in my $2500 laptop, just the 10 minutes I tried removing it. Im very angry with this product! 1Cat 6? Maybe?Bandwidth precedes data rates just as highways come before traffic. Doubling the bandwidth is like adding twice the number of lanes on a highway. The general difference between category 5e and category 6 is in the transmission performance, and extension of the available bandwidth for 100 MHz for category 5e to 200 MHz for category 6. Category 6a (or Augmented Category 6) is defined at frequencies up to 500 MHz--twice that of Cat.Great price for 100 footer. I cut it into smaller lengths but the ends it came with looked durable. It was easy to work with compared to some other twisted pair cable that I have used in the past. The pictured product shows a cable that has the rating written on it. The cable I received is a darker blue and does not have any sort of marking on it. This is the first time that I have ever come across a cat5 or cat6 cable with nothing written on the sheath. If you are going to run this cable between walls or any other place it is difficult to run wires or access I would not purchase this cable for two reasons. One, you should be purchasing cat6a not cat6. Two, because there is no indication on the cable itself the chance exists that it is not actually cat6 at all. 5seems to be helpingI was having intermittent disruptions in my internet service and my peer-to-peer network was also failing intermittently. Everything was about five years old. I lost the built in network interface cards in two of my computers. My router is in a service closet in a small office building. There are other electric items in the service closet. We also had some rolling brown outs. I got a new surge protector that I could run my network cables through. I replaced my router and got shielded cables. The problems are gone. (Almost everything is new). I got these cables because they were advertised as shielded. My old cable was category 5. I have since discovered that there is now a category 7 which may be advertised as shielded. I replaced part of the cable with sheilded category 7 which I ended up getting at Fry's for about the same price as was available on line. This vendor was slow to ship and the cables do not have the releases as shown in the picture, but I never take them out anyway. The other Amazon vendor I tried, did not have the cables in stock, contrary to their advertising. Don't recall their name. 4Good price, good network cat6 cableIt is in my finished basement which had no finish at the time. Originally purchased just to reach my computer in the unfinished basement. Now that I have finished the entire basement it resides hidden in the wall. I cut the ends off so I could connect the cable to a finished wall plate with a recessed Ethernet port to hook a short short Ethernet cable to the computer. The Internet modem / router is now downstairs too but the cable leads to a smart TV upstairs and another piece of the cable leads to a smart TV in the basement family room. Anyway its hidden and works great even after I cut the ends off to hook it to a couple of Ethernet ports in a finished wall plate. Cheaper than buying cable without the ends but that was probably what I would have done had I not had this on hand anyway. Looks like same quality as the bulk cable for the purpose of going behind walls. 5Low Price, High PerformanceAs usual, having been an Amazon customer for quite a while with numerous expensive and cheap purchases, I find this, as all other purchases to be 100% to my satisfaction. I have never received a wrongly advertsed product, nor ever had to have an RMA. So, as to this particular product, again 100% satisfaction. Unbelievable low price for quality that the other top name brand cable would not differ in any way. I am paying for a Fios service of 35mps up and 35mps down and am considering going to 50/50, but what I am really getting with this cable, testing numerous times at different hours of the day from Global Speed Test, my location near Philadelphia, Pa to Washington DC is 42mps download 32mps up. Los Angeles Ca, London England, takes a slight drop depending on time of day. Ping remains at 5 to Washington DC and 15 to the other afformentioned locations. Try for yourself, buy a 3' or 5' Cat6 cable from the top name brand dealer, than buy this one and the difference, if any will not be worth the price of the higher end cable.Thank You again Amazon for dealing with nothing but reputable, great products dealers. 5Wanted to try a POE camera across my creek with ...Wanted to try a POE camera across my creek with a run of at least 300 feet, so I bought this cable for a temporary setup. Note that this cable is not designed to be used outdoors, and unprotected as I'm using it. Even so, it is functioning perfectly strung across tree limbs, across the creek and through more trees to the camera location. As it is only a temporary trial I wasn't concerned about longevity. I simply have both ends out of the weather to keep them dry in out more or less constant Oregon rains. Maybe Ill just leave it there through spring :). 5Good, but couldn't stand up to heavy foot-traffic.I still give this a four, despite the fact that the outside shielding had worn off to nothing when the cable was run underneath the carpet. This began to develop after the first year, and after that, every time I would repair it with electrical tape, two new spots opened up. This hadn't degraded network performance until I upgraded my internet speed to 50 Mbit download, and I found that it wouldn't support anything higher than 35Mbit.I don't know if the plastic shielding wearing away would have degraded the speed capabilities, or if it never supported it to begin with, but I'm pretty sure CAT6 (and even CAT5) should support 50Mbit transfer and more. The cable still works, and I plan to repair it again to use it to share internet with my non-wifi-having neighbor.Again, I still give this a 4 because it served me well for the speed I had, and I'm sure it wasn't built for being walked on, even through carpet. If your internet service gives you less than 35 Mbit download speeds, I would recommend this. If you decide to run it under the carpet, I would suggest stringing it in a way that it doesn't get stepped on. 4
