Customer Reviews

Bright & colorful but a metal screw...really?Picked this up for my youngest. I was interested in the auto-off feature which should be nice if its ever left on at night, but I have to totally agree w/ the other reviewer - 6 hrs is too much time - I'd recommend auto off after 2 hrs. The color selection was nice / a plus. I just walked past the kids room and one was reading with it. Tons of light put out by this little gem, and what kid doesn't like running around a dark room with the strobe flashing. My MAJOR beef with this has to do w/ how Princeton decided to secure the battery compartment. It is secured with a very small screw (not a snap like my Princeton Fuel). I almost completely stripped the screw the first time I put batteries in it. I'm hopeful it will not be an issue going forward. The screw cost this 2 stars and the purchase of a 2nd one which would go for other kid. Don't pay more than ten bucks for this model if you decide to get it. I'm going to spend a few bucks more and picking up our 2nd Fuel as they're not much heavier, have better burn times, and have proven to be a good/sturdy product (had my 1st Fuel for 4 yrs / many campouts / not a single hiccup in its performance). Hope this helps.3Our neice loved this! So easy for a 5 year old ... Our neice loved this! So easy for a 5 year old to operate. We were pleased that it even came with batteries! Also, she wore it for 2 days straight and never complained about the fit. Possibly her favorite gift of the year because it was functional and fun! 5it's okbought as a gift for a toddler...more of a thing to keep track of her easier on camping trips. given the price point vs the output, I think the little plastic olight is a winner. tho for our purposes, it works ok because I didnt want a blinding lamp coming from her head as she looks at you. so, it is ok, as the three stars denotes, as a signal light in camp.3Broke after 2 years of occasional useI wanted this as a small headlight I could attach to my bike helmet. But the shape is such that it won t work for this purpose. So I put it with my tools for the times that I needed to tighten a screw in a dark corner, or peer under some furniture. In this role it lasted scope of years, and then stopped turning on at all. Probably was used a dozen times before it broke1Good for kids, actuley useful Grate headlamp for kids, not so bright that it will hurt eyes. 4Bummer; would not use again. Not a good product. The battery door is secured via screw, and it never fit correctly again after the first time the screw was loosened. Worse, lights dimmed after about 5 hours of use. I would never trust using this brand on a hike again.1Perfect present for a little girlPerfect present for a little girl. We gave it to her with a camping book and toy camping set and she wore it all day long. This is also great for an adult who wants a light weight handlamp, but is adjustable.5A good kids tool.I thought I better put a quick review up here because I think these little lamps are getting a bit of a bad rap with only two reviews. My kids played with them at a local nature center in the play camping area. They have had them there for around 4 months now and with the traffic that comes through there I know they have gotten a lot of hard use from kids toddler though middle school. Yes banging them around dropping them dragging them, most likely stepping on them, fighting over them etc. They seem to be holding up pretty well which was a good sign to me.First off they are adorable the colorful selections excite the kids. They are a great sized lamp for kids heads. They are not sticking out like some huge adult lamps. I think the actual lamp is the perfect size for kids. The adjustable strap works well and is made of a fabric type material that slips less than a shiny strap would when on their little heads.I am sorry I cannot speak on the auto off feature, or the battery life since I do not have experience with those features since we only played at the center for an hour and a half, but I must say the head lamps were on my kids heads the whole time so I know my kids LOVED them. My guess is that the batteries would last longer than a previous poster stated, since they are only powering two little LED bulbs, but like I said I don't own one yet, just played hard with them for a couple hours. They kick off a good amount of light for two little LED bulbs. I was impressed by this.I went ahead and ordered two of them for my kids birthday's coming up at the end of the month. They will be 5 and 7 and I am sure they will use them when we camp this summer, during imaginary play at home where they can explore the dark areas of the basment, and my daughter who is an avid reader will probably enjoy using it to read her books on car trips when it is dark outside. For the price, I found these to be a good deal. I got them for, $12 for the blue and red, and $13 for the purple so I also go them free shipping on Amazon.I would say they are more sturdy than a "toy" but yet made for kids in size and colors.I looked into other head lamps and found most of them for adults, average prize being around $20. For a kid that is 5 or 7 these would be far to large and not nearly as fun. So I decided to go with the ones I already knew passed their play test and they were a good price compaired to others. I also considered buying them little hand lanterns, and/or normal LED flashlights. Yet when making flashlights and lanterns for kids, many companies tend to get into the more "toy" side of products instead of actual working tools. If they do make a kid design for an actual good lantern or flashlight they end up being too high in cost. These seem to have the best of both worlds. Good durability, a fun kid friendly look, and an actual working camping "tool" disigned for kids instead of a "toy."Yet a good price that if it doesn't last forever you don't feel like you just lost an expensive investment.4Adult quality, sweet robotsBought this for my son, I am in the military and have almost exclusively used Princeton Tec headlamps for a while, this is of the same quality as the adult line.5Great ProductI bought this for my three year old to play and read with in his fort. He hasn t loved it as much as I had hoped but does use it sometimes, maybe once he is a bit older. The quality is great and the lights work as expected. The design on the band is cute and great for young kids to use.5Technical issuesI actually ordered two of these headlamps 1 in purple and the other in the pink. The purple one was bought for my co-worker and she hasn't had any problems with hers since it was purchased. However, I had to return my pink one within a week because when the light was on it would dim on me and then go off. So I ordered a replacement in the same color. Then within a couple days of using it it started doing the same thing dimming after it was on for only like 15 or 20 minutes and then it would go off. So now I have to return the replacement one but my co-workers purple one is working fine. This may sound crazy but I feel like the pink batch May have technical issues.1A bummer since Princeton Tec is typically an excellent brand and a little surprised by this issueOrdered for my son and he really likes it but unfortunately the screw for the battery door is either slightly bent or cross threaded when received. Wasn't sure what the issue was at first because it was a challenge to get the battery door open and closed. Now the screw just doesn't hold the battery door shut at all so must be a screw threading issue. I'll have to find a replacement so that we can get it to work properly. My daughter has the same one and loves it and we did not have any problems. A bummer since Princeton Tec is typically an excellent brand and a little surprised by this issue.4
