A great way to dress up performance fans.This was a great way to dress up my Noctua industrial case fan. I just added it to the end of my Phanteks RGB LED strips, and it was ready to go. The density of the LEDs is nice. It definitely looks better than the 4 LED fan that I replaced. They've got my wondering how it'd look on my U12S CPU cooler.5Great addon for RGB FusionLook great, fit great, but made my fans a bit too thick for the front of my panzer g. I cannot close the front with them there. Ill be moving to the top as there seems to be a bit more wiggle room. Very impressed with the colors. Ive seen reviews stating the halos dont match well at times but ive had great success with Gigabyte's RGB fusion on my z270 board. (Gigabyte Ultra Gaming z270 rev. 1) Its just fine. A great way to get rgb on preformance for cheap.My only con, it they dont tell you you need the 3$ phantek cable. I didnt know until after i ordered and had to go to another aite, as here they only shipped if i made an25$ purchase, and i couldnt go back and add to my already processed order. I feel that cable should be standard with thos, as they wont work without it anyways as far as i could tell. Props to Phanteks on the customer service though. i Facebooked them a question, regarding slim fans with good cfms, but the issue was that they all seem to use a 120 mounting bracket, which doesnt help. After asking if the fan i wanted, would the halo fit/affect air they confirmed id need a smaller halo, and air would be affected.Id happily look at more phantek products in the future. Even for this plastic bracket, it doesn't feel cheap or look bad through my glass. My friends all felt its an awesome addition4RGB lights without the RGB price This is an amazing find for anyone looking to give their PC that "Gamer" look without paying the "Gamer" price. Before I begin, a quick note, unless you have a Phanteks case or their RGB controller you WILL need their adapter Phanteks RGB LED 4 Pin Adapter, Specified for Cases with Multi Colors RGB Control (PH-CB_RGB4P). The other thing you will need is a compatible motherboard. Most "Gaming" Z270, Z370, X299, and X399 motherboard will have RGB headers on them. There are others but I can't remember them all and I'm sure you don't want to read a long list. This specific model is plastic There is an aluminum version for an extra $10 but for my case you'd never see anything more than the light. I have it placed in front of a cheap clear fan I got for six bucks. The light is very bright and matches my Z370 Auros Gaming 5 Motherboard and works well with the Auros RGB software (even though the software itself is a pain). If you don't have the $50+ for those fancy RGB fans from corsair or Asus get their cheaper fans and add this to the front or back of the fan. I have this in the front of my Thermaltake MS-I Commander Snow Edition case and plan to get another when I replace the back fan. I want to give this 5 stars but the lack of information available about the need of the adapter and not having it bundled (extra $5 for the adapter) is a blow for the budget conscious who had a set spending limit in mind.Pros:- Works with RGB Fusion, Mystic Lights, and Asus Sync- Looks really nice, especially in front of a clear fan- Bright- Available in 120 and 140 in both plastic and aluminumCons:- Requires a $5 adapter for most4DON'T BUY THESE! Those ones are the ones you're looking at if you buy the Phanteks hub/controller.5Impossible to useA little understated recessed lighting was all i wanted. It was supposed to have a smooth glow on dark blades behind tinted glass. A hint of light. Sophisticated. Tasteful. That's all i wanted.What i got instead was the headache of a lifetime and it all comes down to the connectors. They might daisy chain but each fan appears to be wired to receive and transmit, requiring two different heads on a cable instead of one two sided one. What that means is a tasteful cable management solution in a world of cases with glass on all sides is impossible. The heads are too large to fit into the channels of an average case even if it didn't have it's second problem.The length of these cables just dont pay any respect to the distance it might have to go from the front of a mid ATX case to the middle or the back of a motherboard for an RGB header. Due to it's daisy chain design, you often don't have the full length of a cable to stretch it. Lighting normally goes to the front of a case, there is little point in putting a less bright light in the middle of a case where led strips take the show. With the most aggressively styled cases being Mid-ATX sized and above and smaller cases not having the case for cable routing with large heads, i just can't see why they went with this design. Speaking of arcane design....I have been looking for almost a month for a way to power these dang things! I have silverstones rgb controller, which is a recessed three pin, so i can't even adapt that but i have four pin aura sync rgb headers on my motherboard. I bought a cable that would fit the pins but the Phanteks connector refuses to produce any friction to hold the extension in the connector. Phanteks' aura sync adapter for the proprietary connector is out of stock on amazon and isn't listed on thier own website so i guessed they stopped making it. Even if they did, many report the RGB signal and power wiring is reversed on the Phanteks products.So the cables look like crap no matter what you do, they are short so you can't run them too far behind the case, they wont play nice with other rgb controllers, they don't sell adapters, the phanteks controller is about as functional as a single header on a motherboard and infinitely less system friendly, and they require extra clearance over your front fan mounts where the front panel is normally the tightest.How was i supposed to use this product? It's not even good as a coaster because of the hole in the middle.1Uninformative product descriptionsHad to first buy the 3 pin version, not be able to connect it to Gigabyte Motherboard. You need the Halo Digital Lux and not the Less expensive Halos. Asus actually has 2 DIFFERENT Aura sync systems! One 4 pin (12V) and one 3 pin (5V). Unfortunately; this is NOT common knowledge and I only found this out after calling Phanteks. Looks like I'll be sending my cheaper Halo units back.3These look really cool but are a bit of a pain to install.The effect is really nice, even on matte grey fans. The leds are diffused pretty nicely so for the most part it looks like a nice solid ring of light and not like individual leds. I already had a phanteks rgb strip so I had all the hardware I needed to connect them up to the RGB header on my motherboard, but if this is your first phanteks RBG product then you will need their proprietary adapter cable because they wont fit onto your motherboards RGB header with whats included in the package for this particular item.My only complaint is that these need to be screwed to the fans and the screws that were included aren't the best self tapping screws. You really have to work to screw them in and I stripped one of the included screws so one of the halos is only mounted with three screws, which in itself isn't a huge problem but I'm somewhat annoyed by the non symmetry, though I'm lucky that it was only one. The noctua fans that I put these on included much nicer self tapping scews that pretty much went right in with no trouble.Seriously though, these look really cool and allow you to add RGB to any fan, which is nice for me because I was set on going with noctua (who doesn't make RGB fans). Putting them on was worth the bit of frustration, just make sure you have the proper cables and an RGB header on your motherboard (or at least an RGB controller).5They work but...After finally getting these installed on the fans I moved to the back of my case (smokey Silverstone 140mm x3) they give the area some nice light and don't look half bad. I daisy chained them with the other RGB fans in the front but unfortunately the pins are different or something for all three of these and the colors are backwards. For now I keep them all white to solve the problem but I'm not sure how to go about resolving that, yet. Thankfully white fits my build perfectly.EDIT: Apparently it requires a proprietary cable to get around this. It is Phanteks' PH-CB_RGB4P.4Make fans RGB for cheap?I originally did an overview of the Phanteks Halos Lux for my YouTube channel and found it to be a great way to add some color to your existing case fans if you had an RGB-capable Phanteks case and/or compatible ASUS, Gigabyte, or MSI motherboard with an RGB header on it. But I wanted to know if the cheaper Halos was worth looking at for those who didn't want to spend $20 on the Lux.There are some differences between the Halos and Halos Lux, all aesthetic. The Lux is aluminum while the regular Halos is plastic, the Lux has a sleeved cable, the Halos does not, and the Lux comes with the RGB adapter needed to connect it to a compatible motherboard, the Halos does not (you'll need to spend another $5 for that). But for $10, this will still get the job done if you just have an RGB-capable Phanteks case and even if you need the adapter, you're still at $15 vs. $20.My original unit was faulty (top 3 LED's showed as red instead of purple), but the Phanteks customer support service had a replacement out to me in less than a week that works just fine. In terms of color, there's no difference between the Lux and Halos and I feel confident that inside of a case, you wouldn't notice the difference in metal and plastic materials. The cable is noticeable, but those who are freakish about cable management will find a way to hide it so sleeved vs. non-sleeved isn't terribly important I'd think.The bottom line is if you want to save a few dollars, this is very acceptable and does a nice job of adding color to your existing fans without having to spend a bunch on RGB fans and/or controllers. It does what it's supposed to do and is very affordable.And no, I don't believe in the rainbow RGB effect. I use the lighting effects to make specific color schemes that I can change when I feel like it.5
