Much better than I expected for the priceWorks perfectly! I use it on my 18-55mm lens. It is not as easy to work with on a 50-200m lens. It is a much better option than getting extension tubes since you don't have to worry about a loss of light.All photos taken with a Pentax K-50 at 55mm using the Opteka 10x Diopter. 5I'm very pleased with this product.Despite the bad reviews, I'm very pleased with the product. I did spend quite a bit, to research which diameter fits and I ordered it and I had no problem with threading it on my lens. Of course, it is a fine thread to attach the filter on your lens, thread it on carefully. Now, I spent today about an hour, and there is a learning curve with this lens. First of all, Auto focus does not work with this lens. You magnify the subject, so the Auto focus of your camera is way off. I put my camera in manual focus mode, focus on macro and move the whole camera back and forth until the subject I want to take a picture was sharp. Also, if you YouTube how people do macros, they almost every time use a flash and some sort of diffuser. My results improved drastically when I started using the flash. With the flash, I brought the shutter speed down to a fraction and was able to catch the subject without motion blur. The last trick I learned today is, with a zoom between 50 - 450 mm, I was able to achieve great results. Be aware, this lens cuts the distance from camera to subject. In the zoom range without this lens I have to have 5ft distance from camera to subject. So the 10x close up makes this distance 10 times shorter. 5ft = 60". 60" / 10 = 6". So with the lens I had to be 6" away from the subject, to have the subject in focus. One last thing, it is a close up lens. It shrinks the focus range, that means, the leg of the insect is blurry but the face of the insect is in focus. That's it. After playing with the Opteka Achromatic 10x Close Up Lens, I'm impressed and it certainly is a inexpensive introduction into the world of macro photography. Be mindful, it is not an expensive Macro lens. But for my purpose, plenty for the buck. My 4 stars are because Auto focus will not work, but I can live with that. Attached a few photos I took with the lens. 4Does NOT fit Nikon D3400 18-55mm lensThis is a great lens, as it was able to capture a close up that would not otherwise have been possible (I know because I tried!) It also just FEELS like a quality piece as it is all metal and glass- not plastic like so many other lenses. Of course that adds some weight to it, but I appreciate the quality feel. It also comes with nice protective caps AND a little drawstring pouch to keep it in.I'm giving it a 5 star rating for all of the above listed reasons; however, I need to return it because it doesn't fit my Nikon D3400 18-55mm lens. I'm STILL giving it 5 stars because nowhere in the company's description say that it DOES fit this camera/lens. I bought this because someone asked a question about whether it would fit or not, and someone (I believe a customer, not the company rep) said it would.. that's why I'm not taking away any stars. At least in the very few that I have tried. I know, this is never what someone wants to hear. People want to hear yes, this is the lens for you. I ll make it simple, this is perfect if you would like to get some macro shots. The lens is more than worth the twenty dollars or so to buy it. MANUAL FOCUS! 5The only thing I would point out to anyone looking to get a macro adapter like this is to bear in mind that your focal ...Cheap but effective. The only thing I would point out to anyone looking to get a macro adapter like this is to bear in mind that your focal depth is also reduced dramatically. If you're used to having several inches of acceptable focus at F1.8 for example, be prepared to have maybe several millimetres of acceptable focus at most. You're going to be stopping down your aperture a lot in order to get decent focus, and even with optical image stabilisation on the body or on the lenses, you're really going to way to be shooting with a tripod, not off-hand. Trying to get the correct focus depth and get a steady enough shot when you don't have enough light to crank the shutter speed up to avoid motion blur means a tripod really is going to be your friend. 5Awesome Gladd !!Way Past Due Review !Canon EOS Rebel SL1Really enjoy this glass. I can not afford a great macro lens so what i saw this, i jumped :) I was torn between the diopter lens and the lens extensions. I went with this diopter lens and could not have been happier :) You will have some challenges getting know this glass, but once you find its sweet spot, you will become proud of it.I love using this on my 18-55mm lens the best. My 50mm comes 2nd, and then my 75-300.Sorry i wish i had more time to type. Here i included some photos. The insects are explanatory. The last photo is of that tiny tiny fuzz/hair that collects on the end chain to a ceiling fan.PS:I can not afford Adobe Lightroom. This is the basic editing tools that came with my $230.00USD Acer from wakmart. This glass/ lens is great :) 5Good for the price!Does a decent job, just took the right combination of settings and equipment to use. My best results came using a Canon 40D, with a Canon 50mm 1.4 lens. Tripod is a must. Auto focus worked but manual is recommended. Set the aperture to about f14 and this seemed to increase the depth of field. For the price it is a good adapter for macro shots. 4Great results with a fast lens and good lightAbsolutely thrilled with this delightful little guy! I was expecting a slim, diaphanous sliver and I got a hefty piece of glass and metal. And it works!I do specialized, still-life photography and have been wanting the Nikon 85mm macro but at $500 I just could not justify the cost. I recently picked up the 35mm Prime f 1.8 (and LOVE it) that focuses down to 11.8 inches and then I stumbled across this Bad Boy and for $25, why not? The pic is the third one I shot. Just look at that detail. Maybe 2 inches from the bottle. I think anyone who has ever thought about doing macro would do well to pair this up with a good, fast Prime lens and try your hand. I am so happy with this lens. 1 note of caution: it will notattach to the Nikon 18-55mm DX VRII lens for some reason, it's too big. It does work best in good light, I think having a super fast f 1.8 lens really helps.Highly recommend. Update: Just shot the 2 flower pics in my backyard. Can you see the pollen??? And look at the brilliant color! Amazing! Remember, this lens attaches to the lens on your camera, not the camera itself, so bear that in mind. The flower pics were shot with a Nikon 35mm Prime lens f 1.8 with S priority @ 1/3200 5Great fun with this!Great fun! It arrived two days ago. I only got to try it yesterday.
