Customer Reviews

works great good buyoriginal nokia, works great good buy! 5Great phone, nokia is a good brandGreat phone, nokia is a good brand, the phone is reliable, friendly. I had d Nokia N8, really the N8 has more functions (FM transmitter, HDMI output, work as USB Modem), but the camera of 1020 is the big difference. I waiting for the Windows Phone 8.1, because the 8.0 version is not as good one as Symbian Belle. The phone is easy to use, good sound, thanks a god had iTunes integration to copy the music to the phone. For me is 5 stars because I'm a photographer enthusiast. 5Bought 5 lumias in the period of 5 years, for 3 people. They are good but could last more. Apple's life is barely any better.Bought 1 lumia 920, stolen, and 4 1020 had it since it came out. Very good camera, still one of the best at that mega pixel the one, my 5th lumia purchased, here is the issue, they have problems, 2 replaced under warranty, 1 bought used now in april only lasted 5 months, that is very bad, a huge minus, motherboard simply decided to give up. One i gave to my mom, 4 years old, and my girlfriend has one for about 3 years now. So when they work is great and uncluttered with a good camera, good for those who like a phone to be simple and not a computer combined with still the best camera. If not for that and the metro os I would have changed. Sticking to it because of the price or replacement, but this is strike 2, 3 and it's is out of the picture even with these key things that keep me to it. Microsoft bought nokia and destroyed it as many big companies do, wonder what Nokia could had made if it survived the competitive period. It had an unique identity. It needed more years under this recipe with incremental improvements. 3Lumia 1020 is really the BEST Windows Phone right now.So first things as this is an Amazon partner purchase - I got exactly what I ordered, a new, black, unlocked Nokia 1020. (With ATT logo - which i don't care about.) So bravo to BREED for selling me what was in the description. I had to go this route because the good folks at the AT&T store would not sell me this phone unless I bought a monthly plan. I was willing to pay the full price even! They did not want money so c'est la vie. Amazon and BREED are the beneficiaries, plus I got the unlocked version.I have an AT&T pre-paid plan - Upon opening, I inserted the SIM and bingo, all my stuff was there, no problems for those inquiring about the pre-paid plan SIM usage. I confirmed the unlock status by inserting a foreign carrier's SIM - boom! It worked! Unlock status confirmed. Now for the fun stuff.... Hands down, in my opinion, this is the BEST windows phone as of October 2014. Why? It has 2GB of internal RAM to handle the processing of data from the 41MP camera. I actually did not buy this phone for the camera, I was after the 2GB of RAM! If you are a heavy multi-tasker like I am, that extra memory comes in very handy. It is not uncommon for me to have on WAZE, Skype, Spotify and 3 mail clients running. Often, my Kindle and or Audible app are also on and of course some sort of web search. My old Lumia 520 would die under this load so I finally decided to make the upgrade.Yes, the camera's awesome. You can read about it on any of the other many reviews for this phone. But if you want a real performer, this phone is it. It runs smooth as silk. No stuttering, lagginess or delays. Just straight up performance. The new Lumias 735 and 830 both have quad-core processors which on spec are better than this phones dual-core but they have only 1GB of RAM each which I know I will consume and then get the dreaded "resuming" status while the apps and OS do all kinds of primary memory to 2nd tier memory swapping. 1GB will not be enough for my power usage pattern. But it's only a dual-core CPU right??? Well - the dual-core on this is no slacker, it handles 41MP images with no issue. It does image editing with no fuss and the switch back to apps is smooth as butter, even when I have my usual complement of 5+ apps running. The only other Lumia that matches this in horsepower is the "flagship" 1520 which is an awesome piece of machinery but just simply way too large. It's really more of a phablet - thus the reason I say the Lumia 1020 is the best Windows Phone right now. It still has the aspect of a phone!I really like this great device and kudos to the wonks and geeks at Nokia and Microsoft for keeping their chin up and producing something in the marketplace that is not just another device with a boring grid of icons. Listen to your user feedback and you'll get that market share in time! I really like the new Lumias 735 and 830 but they in my opinion don't have enough memory. Maybe the 735 can get away with 1GB but the 830 should have at least 1.5GB.Regarding the OS - it came installed with Windows Phone 8.0. I made the phone go through three updates (maybe four, max?) to get Windows Phone 8.1 with the new Cortana... and let me tell you, she's better than the Siri and Android assistants... and it's only still in beta.FYI - One of the best enhancements for the phone is the 8.1HD Tiles App.Con - The ONLY con I have is the weight. Coming from the 520, it's a huge change. But I also get the power that I want so it more than makes up for the heaviness. And the truth it, it's really not that heavy. In fact, if it were any lighter, I'd think it too fragile. This thing looks to be able to take a bruising. 5Loved my phoneLoved my phone... when I say love I mean loved ... it was as though it was indestructible never had a problem with hardware but I will say this I purchased the phone thinking it was "New" as the description said but the software said other Wise.. contact the seller about it no reply.(I still have my email in my inbox). The phone one day overloaded and crashed (screen of death with a sad emoji face)and I thought my world had ended... but I refused to give up and downloaded a software on my laptop thanks to YouTube and revived it and it worked better than it did when I purchased it... I'm a Lumia fanatic just wished it wasn't falsely advertise as new because I would've purchased it and given it a 5star ... but the honesty was lacking between the seller 3Best Smartphone Ever, Hands Down. The camera is Stunning, as a professional photographer I was looking for an smartphone camera to take casual shots to not use my DSLR. The Lumia 1020 will let you manually change almost all aspect of the camera (except aperture) to take the shot YOU want, not the machine. 5First impression = Love the phoneIll try to keep it short.I came from a Nokia 521 and got this phone for its camera.First impression = Love the phone, not so much the camera. I thought it would be different since I'm used to WP, but the camera didn't impress me at all, then, I realized that I'm used to my T2i + 55-250 lens = expected too much.Second impression = still Love the phone and started to like the camera with one mention Manual Settings are the name of the game. Conclusion: in my case, I set the camera expectations too high, but using the camera with manual setting I got very nice pictures (surprisingly good comparable with t2i stock lens). As for the phone continue to like it more and more (521 - 1020 is like night and day). Great phone camera package that requires a learning curve for the camera. If you are planning to buy a wireless charger case for this phone (cc-3066) think twice is discontinued and currently selling for over 100$ (yeah is not a typo) online. 5A superb phone but it DOES NOT RUN ON T-MOBILE USA LTEThis is a very good phone but it DOES NOT RUN ON T-MOBILE USA LTE. For this you must buy the Lumia 1020 RM-877. I am returning this to exchange for the correct phone.Do not believe other reviews here that say the phone will run on T-Mobile. This is true only if you do not want to run LTE. Of course, everyone wants to run the fastest on their own network. If you are on T-Mobile do not buy this version, BUY THE RM-877. 5Fastest International (and non) shipping I've ever had.The pack arrived 3 days after placing the order, at an estimated 3+ weeks of waiting; that was truly impressive;I did not factor custom taxes when I placed the order, but the cost still happened to be inferior or at least not too higher than expected (from Italy you oughta factor in an extra 30 Euros or 40 USD).The package was (thankfully), well sealed, the content was as new as it can get, the American adaptor had to be replaced with Western Europe counterpart (why can't there be one damn lone plug still goes beyond my comprehension), that wasn't a big problem however; As for the product itself:- as stated by the carrier, the product is Factory Unlocked indeed; put a Tim Micro Sim card which was read right away;- around 4 days after delivery and it has been working just fine;- the International model counts as many language options as I can think of, including Italian, Eastern European countries, Asian, etc.;- the Here Drive + allows to download GPS maps for using them even without a SIM Card, which I find much appreciated;- the store is indeed still low with the number of apps available (of course that depends on what people are looking for; "common" apps such as Facebook, Whatsapp, Skype, Youtube, etc can be found anywhere, including the Windows Store). As far as the Apple Siri counterpart goes, Ask Ziggy, it still is quite buggy and some functions are not working too well, but the inbuilt voice command option responds well;- tho it takes some time to get the hang at the camera settings, once you do, the quality of the photos you can achieve is outstanding;- free Microsoft Office is welcome;- it took awhile to charge and will dry out on battery quite fast; the Camera Grip accessory oughta help with this issue;Overall: If you like the phone, 0 problems with shipping and handling, probably best to order this if you live in the States, but if you remember to account custom taxes, I'd recommend to order this one. 5Buy Lumia 1020 one if you love photographyI am repeat buyer of this phone. This is a great camera phone. This is best camera with 41 MP and low light images are just awesome! Phone performance is also very good. 5
