Great quality binocular for the valueGreat quality binocular for the value. Did lots of research before finally deciding on these. I have had a few pairs of lower quality binoculars that were similarly priced that these binoculars blow out of the water.4He's really enjoyed being able to explore further afield with them and ...Bought as a gift for my husband - he LOVES this set of binoculars and takes them with him on field trips, trips to the mountains and even picnics. He's really enjoyed being able to explore further afield with them and they have adequately met and even exceeded expectations.5Great great greatGreat binoculars. Great low light visibility. Good size.5Good optics, lightweight enough for a Rick Steves TourWe bought this because we wanted a pair of binoculars that were good quality but lightweight, and that's what we got. They are small enough to pack in your day pack and leave plenty of room for everything else, and lightweight enough not to eat up weight that you'd rather take up with necessities. Rick Steves Tours encourages people to pack light and this really helped. Meade optics are also very good quality and the clarity and brightness of the image did not disappoint. A great buy for casual birding, too.5Good, but not great, terrestrial binocularsPros: good weight and balance for handheld use in terrestrial or astronomical viewing; mechanics have solid, well-constructed feel and appearance; little noticeable chromatic aberration or collamination issues out-of-the-box; good optics for this price and sizeCons: diopter adjustment not smooth and not stable after setting (slight slippage while viewing); lens/eyepiece covers not attached (front are attached view plastic loop that easily slips off; back simply pop on-and-off eyepieces with no attachment) making them easy to misplaceConclusion: an acceptable, reasonably priced, lightweight viewing binocular best for terrestrial use but OK for limited astronomical cases (I'd look for a larger glass if you plan on doing much nighttime or astronomic viewing). Size and weight are convenient for travel use and occasional hiking where a few extra ounces is not critical. Optics are OK -- better than expected given price but not outstanding. Overall, a good, middle-of-road instrument.4A bargain!Great binoculars for the money. I purchased two pair. 1-8x32 and 1-10x32. The ten powers might have a very slight color distortion on a very bright day. Both pairs are as good as my larger Nikon's and Leupold's. I really like the mid size of these binoculars. They are perfect for hunting. You can't go wrong for the money.5Very good binocs Arrived on time. Good quality binoculars. Much better than my old 7-15x35 from the 70 s. 5Optically an exceptional value, mechanically disappointingOptically these binoculars compare favorably to much more expensive pairs that I own, making them an exceptional value. Unfortunately, the focusing wheel makes a scraping sound when turned, which does not bode well for longevity right out of the box. A minor issue is that the plastic eye cups are lubricated internally with an excess of silicon lubricant that could easily smear on the eyepieces. These problems may have been specific to the copy that I received, but I bought these binoculars as a gift and did not have time to test a new pair, so I returned them and went with another (more expensive) brand's model instead.3Meade Instruments Rainforest Pro 10x42 BinocularsI am happy with my new Meade Instruments 125043 Rainforest Pro Binoculars. I have purchased 10x42. As I can judge by online pictures exactly same binos are sold by Carson as VP Series for 50 US$ more. I bet both Meade and Carson models are made at the same factory in China where skillful Chinese craftsmen assemble them and put different brand logos on tripod mounting bolts. Both Meade and Carson binoculars have same exterior and mechanics. It looks like they even inherited exactly the same design flaw which I have discovered: the left eyepiece rubber cover screws all the way down whereas the right cover does not because of the diopter adjustment ring (on some photos of Carson VP Series models the difference in lengths between left and right binoculars is visible). Therefore to have equal distance between both left and right binoculars and my eyes I had to unscrew the left rubber cover a little. Not a big deal, just weird and somehow annoying feature. However this little shortcoming ruins the otherwise perfection of this device and subtracts one star of my rating. Other than that Meade Rainforest binos are great. I have compared them with my old Vanguard Venture binos and Meade model has performed at least as good as Vanguard (or slightly better). For the price it's a very good product. For regular consumer use such as watching birds or whales or your neighbors they are more than enough.4Fine binoculars For the money I can't really imagine getting better binoculars. Very clear picture and the fog resistance is quite effective. Took these to the rainforests of Costa Rica and found them useful for birdwatching. 5Excellent ValueExcellent binoculars for the price. Very clear view that is just right for bird watching. The focusing knob is a little stiff, but I think should loosen up over time. Overall, a very sturdy pair of binoculars that I think is well worth the price paid.5Perfect for our Serengeti safariPerfect for our Serengeti safari. Wide enough field of view to spot animals in the distance, but great for closer-in views also. Very sturdy construction, Flopping lens covers a little irritating, but I just took them off. Highly recommend it. We bought the NatGeo binocs and the were broken on arrival. Sent them back and bout these.5
