Solid copper. Not coated. Quality product.It's a heatsink, it does what it's designed to do. I inspected them, they are for sure solid copper. I didn't use the included double sided tape, I used the Sywon Professional Thermal Adhesive Conductive Tape Double Sided Cooling Tape found here on Amazon. Buy the good stuff if you can instead of using the included cheap simple double sided tape, it does make a difference for thermal transfer and it adheres so much better, the heatsinks will NOT move. Makes great heatsinks for Raspberry Pi's that kind of stuff. I use them for Phat XBOX 360 Memory chips and the bridge chips too. Helps cool the RAM up a bit more. 5Awesome for my GPUTook off the double sided tape it came with since I knew they would fall off my VRAM chips. But the heatsink is great and small. Perfect size for the chips on my graphic card.The heatsink a them self won't cool anything down, they need air flow! Pictures are of my rig EVGA 970 SSC with NZXT g10 Water block adapt 5For CPUA total of 8 of these (which is what you get in the package) may have helped lower my CPU temp under idle about 3C. I had room in my laptop so i was able to put it in there. (Sager 8130). I will probably purchase a few more packs of these as i don't mind spending 20-30 more bucks on them to cover my CPU/GPU. It won't hurt, although it may not give you some crazy drop in heat. I would say 1 pack = 2-4C.The heatsinks themselves are surprisingly heavy, which is a good thing. It's an expensive way to cool your system, as if you can upgrade your heatsink/fan for your CPU/GPU money will be better spent, but these are also quick and SIMPLE install as well. So you don't need to take anything out, you don't need any glue as the back of these have adhesive, they will stick right on whatever you put them on.I don't know why they include the cosmos cable tie, no point unless i guess you need one? 4For those such as me who bought the Kraken g10 and was worried about cooling the card this is the best solution I could findI bought a pack for cooling the vram on my R9 290x video card. Ordered one pack as a trial and it does a really good job of dissipating the heat. Only bad side about this is that in order to cool all of the vram spots its gonna take me three of these 8 pack kits to get the job done. They are great heat sinks made out of solid copper and have helped lower the temp of whatever I've but them on by at least a couple of degrees.The first pack I bought a few years back when I was building my gaming computer which was liquid cooled. I used these to cool the ram on my video card after removing the stock heatsink (which didn't cool the ram at all). They dropped the ram temp by a few degrees. When I replaced my video card a while later I bought another pack for the new video card as well.I then bought another pack when I wanted a heatsink for my Raspberry Pi. I was using XBMC at the time on a pi as a media player, and it was stressing the pi fairly good so I decided to put a cooler on it. It helped there as well. I had a few left over and so I ended up putting one on the 2 hottest chips in my wireless router which was known for having over heating issues and needing to be rebooted every few weeks. This seemed to help with that as well. 5Copper Heatsinks without the copper price.Got these as well as the cosmos aluminum heatsinks for a few purposes including putting on my MSI GTX 970, sm951 m.2 ssd, vram on my z170 motherboard, as well as other places as needed.Price: These are practically unbeatable for what you get for the price. You get 8 copper heatsinks for $7 shipped. (Just a tip, you can find these on ebay, under 8 copper heatsink for 3.70 shipped from china if you can wait) The thermal adhesive is okay and does the job. Just make sure to use 90 percent of higher rubbing alcohol to clean the surface you want to attach it to first or it will fall off.Will update this review after application and more tests. 5Great, pure copperGreat, pure copper, heatsinks!While the days of using them on VGA RAM are likely over, they still allow one to place these on small IC's on a variety of devices. Personally I have them on my Raspberry Pi's and other SBC (Single Board Computers) to help them dissapate as much heat as they can. While I don't overclock too much I primarily picked these up for the then, unreleased, Raspberry Pi 3 which had rumored early on (read: Reddit and other hobby/maker forums) to really put out some heat while over-utilized. While I've never had an issue with mine overheating, I cannot say it wasn't because of these heatsinks; since they have been on all 3 of my devices before they ever saw power.They stick well although some care MUST be taken to get the paper backing off the stick-pad as delicately as possible. I can imagine someone new or looking for something like this might heavy-hand it and get the sticky-pad dirty or fingerprinted. This will result in loss of sticking power and I can believe that possibly some lower than normal reviews were due to improper handling and use. Who knows exactly but the batch I've received have worked well and I'm storing them in a cool, dry place for future use. I expect no problems. 5Piece of mindThis is a piece of mind product, not necessarily something I can actually test or verify how successful it works.I recently liquid cooled my GTX 770 using the NZXT G10 Bracket and an older NZXT Kraken X40 AIO Liquid Cooler. The VRAM only had thermal pads on it and wasn't connected to any heatsink by default, but I got these to hopefully ensure that the card's longevity and performance won't be ruined by excessive heat especially considering I overclocked the card significantly.Installation:This was straight forward, although I do recommend using a razor to separate the adhesive protector from the actual thermal pad on the Copper heatsink. Trying to peel it off with your fingertip is a little crude and you might pull the thermal pad instead. The heatsinks themselves were nearly perfect size for the VRAM. Once you place it down the heatsinks aren't cemented in place, even if you apply pressure, which means you can remove them easily or adjust them as needed but really it is pretty simple to install.Conclusion:My monitoring software doesn't measure VRAM temperatures to decipher if these heatsinks make any improvement, again it was piece of mind for about $7++ Update ++I recently did some minor changes to my computer and that's when I found some of these heat sinks laying inside the case as they had fallen off the VRAM. That is a bit disappointing and obviously makes them ineffective if they are not applied. I was able to reapply them and held them in place firmly for about 10 seconds and they appear to have adhered again. Though I suspect they'll fall off again. I lowered my rating from 5 to 3 stars upon this discovery. 3Great for GPU VramUsed these in conjunction with a Corsair H75 and NZXT Kraken G10 to cool my GPU (EVGA 660ti). With the reference cooler, the temps would easily reach 70+ Celsius. Now with my new setup, I can barely get it past 40 Celsius under load, and I'm sure that these copper heatsinks have helped. They are lower profile than the aluminum ones you might get with other aftermarket coolers (Arctic coolers). I was able to easily remove the adhesive backing, clean them, and apply my own thermal glue. I would def recommend. 5Great for aftermarket GPU RAM cooling!Gaming on a GTX 980 with a stock cooler results in up to 80C avg temps. Long story short - I have installed an aftermarket CPU cooler and these RAM heatsinks. Though the aftermarket cooler indicates It wasn't necessary to install any chips on the RAM I decided to do so anyway. As a result, both the GPU AND it's RAM top off at 32-38 C while gaming at max settings on either of the games mentioned below.I've paired this product up with the Arctic Accelero 140 on my Reference NVIDIA GTX980 and it's done marvelously for the past two months. I run my machine on a 2K monitor @ 144hz (ASUS PQ27) and in the past when two games I've played recently, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Overwatch, would cause my frame rates to top out due to 'thermal limits' per a program called GPUZ @80 C, I decided to ditch the stock cooler.I also have an HTC Vive and while playing games like The Solus Project, Out of Ammo, and Job Simulator, I've noticed a decrease if not a complete lack of stuttering, indicating frame rates are staying above 90fps at all times.Needless to say, a gaming machine's performance is dependant on the sun of its components and these RAM chips have been a reliable if not small part of my positive overall experience. After two months I have not had any of the chips fall off, which was an initial concern since the RAM chips are hanging off of the video card as opposed to sitting on top of it as a result of the way the card is traditionally mounted within my PC. 5
