Customer Reviews

You will likely be disappointed... (update)I purchased and installed these lights in my kitchen. Color is nice, installation was not difficult, light was good. Then the problems...First, about 10 months in the included switch broke. I would turn the lights on in the morning and off in the evening -- two presses per day. The surface covering the buttons cracked and then broke off leaving the button mechanics exposed. You would think I used a hammer to turn them on/off instead of my finger. Looking at the reviews I'm not the only one with this issue.Second, about 11 months in the lights would come on at their lowest level but refuse to rise in brightness. Later on their own they would come to full brightness. Then turn off again sometime later. Awesome!Third, I contacted customer service. I can only describe their strategy as friendly avoidance of actual problem solving. They will ask you to take the system apart and try different configurations to figure out if it is the switch or the power supply, good luck with that if you've installed in wall, which you probably will do. They will ask you to send them parts for analysis to determine the problem. Give me a break. This isn't the space shuttle. We are talking maybe $7 in parts at their cost for a switch and transformer? Their lights failed in less than a year, one would expect an apology and for them to send the parts to just get the problem solved. Instead it's been a dozen emails and a month with no resolution. So disappointed. And you will likely be as well...Pros:Nice light quality.Easy installation.Cons:Poor quality parts.Poor customer service/warranty.High price.Update:The replacement switch I purchased has now cracked and again needs to be replaced. 1awesome kit! Great value.I took some time and ran all my wires and you will want to plan it out carefully. Simple install though. Love them and plenty of light.... I posted pics of brightest and lowest amount of light they give out. 5Lights themselves are outstanding but the included screws are awfulOverall I'm extremely happy with this kit, I installed it over the weekend and it looks great. The dimmer functionality works well, the lights at full brightness are actually brighter than I expected and the dimmer can take them all the way down to a nice low level for nighttime or mood lighting. The lights themselves feel solid and well made, this is definitely a quality kit with one major exception...the screws that are included are AWFUL. I'd read some reviews on Amazon mentioning them as a problem before I ordered so I went in expecting it and they lived up to the expectation. The metal is soft as butter and you'll most likely strip the Phillips slot in the heads just trying to put them in. I pre-drilled all my holes and tried about 6 different screwdrivers of various sizes and my screws still ended up a mess. And if you're an amateur like me and have to unscrew them once to adjust the mount location of the lights you can pretty much forget it, I had to break out the dremel and cut some of the heads off. Seriously...my advice is when you get the kit take one of the screws with you and go to a local hardware store and spend a few bucks buying quality screws to use instead, it will be well worth it. That said, I'd still buy this kit again, I'm very happy with the end results. 4Huge amount of light, no heat, very little power consumption - very nice productThese things are truly amazing. I've been using halogen under cabinet lights for about 4 years in my workshop and I was getting tired of replacing the bulbs every few months, they always seemed to be out right in the section that I was working in. I had a total of 12 lights that gave off a relatively bright yellow light and a ton of heat. One of them started melting recently and I decided to upgrade.I realize that these aren't cheap, but I have to say I am impressed with the quality. The light is at least 3x brighter than the old halogen lights and it is linear light, not spot lights, so they are perfect for long stretches of counter. After installation (more on that later) I had them running for about 2 hours and they were cool to the touch. The light is bright white, but not 'blue' light. I think I may actually use the dimmer (which works really well) to tone them down a bit.My only complaint with the whole setup was the mounting hardware. The screws were tiny and the metal was soft as butter. I hopelessly stripped about 1/3 of them but with some pliers and a few obscenities I was able to get all the brackets installed. I am still giving the product a 5 star rating thought because of the obviously high build quality of the lights and the brightness factor.I would highly recommend these lightbars. 5Quality product at resonable priceNice quality lights. Dimmer switch performs well and LEDs are very bright. LEDs are connected in series which makes it easy for installation. Kit also comes with a splitter if you need to connect in parallel. Took be 4 hours to install. Power supply brick is the size of a laptop charger an can be easily stored in the cabinet. Overall, a good buy. 5AwesomeI will give this 5 stars. Everything is will made and works very well. Light output is great. After using puck lights for years, this is like miles ahead of those. I had to buy extra wire to go up the wall, through the attic and down a wall across the the room. (cabinets on opposing walls) Went through the cabinet into the wall cavity. Used twelve 12 " lights and one 6" light. Bought the 40 watt transformer with dimmer from Litewiki ($$$expensive) . I installed a double gang box next to a power outlet and stole power from it. I ran wire from the outlet to the new box. Connected to a Lutron Motion switch and from that to the dimmer. Ran the wire back up the wall to the tranformer on top of the cabinet and the attached 24 ga wire to the transformer. From that point, it was daisy chained from one light to another. I had to go up, over and down through cabinets over the microwave and then the refrigerator. I cut the plugs from the ends of some of the 3 foot supplied wire and spliced them to my wire. Took a few partial weekends, but it looks professional and has real wall switches. With the motion switch, it all turns itself on and off. As you walk into the room, lights pop on. BIG CON is the small tiny phillip head screws that connect the clips to the cabinet. This screw is a minus 5 stars. For newbee DYI folks, this will be a huge trial to not bugger up the phillip head on the screws. Predilling a guide hole is a must. I finally settled on a drill bit that looked way way to big for this diameter screw. It worked, but even with that, it took a lot of care to not mess up the screw head. Remember you will be in an awkward position putting the clips in. That is the only negative to these lights. Everything else is first class. If you buy extra wire, do yourself a favor and get 2 different colors. That way you can keep up with which wire you can connected to the positive or negative wire upstream. I didnt and it made things harder for me. 5Great under cabinet lightingI was considering using strings of LED lights for under my kitchen cabinets, but when this 12 panel kit showed up on a search, it sounded much easier. I am very happy with my choice! I bought a few extra cables (6' and 12') and a couple of 6" panels just in case, and I ended up using one of each. Here are some pros and cons and general thoughts about this kit:1. Each 12" panel includes two mounting brackets and two small screws. As noted in other reviews, the screws are fragile and pilot holes are necessary. Even with pilot holes I ended up snapping off one screw. I used the smallest drill bit I have -- 1/16" -- for pilot holes, and this seemed perfect. The included splitter and dimmer both include mounting screws, also.2. Each 12" panel includes one "modular connector" and one 3' cable. If you want two panels immediately side-by-side, you use the modular connector to make one long 24" panel. I used the panels this way over my sink which includes a wide cabinet, but everywhere else I used single 12" panels connected with either the 3' cables or one of the longer cables I ordered separately.3. The standard 3' cables which are included are really a little too long for places where they are most useful. One foot would have been perfect for my installation. When I needed something longer than that, I needed 5' or 6' or more. Still, I found it pretty easy to hide the excess of the 3' cables. A staple gun will be your friend!4. The dimmer is nice, but could use some improvement. In fact, you might consider replacing the dimmer that's included with another off-the-shelf 24V PWM dimmer. There are a couple of problems here.4a. It's wired. A wireless dimmer would have been so much nicer.4b. While it remembers your dimming level if power is turned off/on at the power supply, if you switch the power supply off/on the dimmer leaves the lights off. This means you can't use a standard wall switch to switch the power supply off/on because the dimmer will always leave the lights off until you then turn the lights on at the dimmer. You can use a wall switch to control the power supply if you leave the dimmer out of the circuit, but your LED panels will operate at full brightness which is probably too bright for most installations.4c. The cable coming out of the dimmer is attached to the dimmer itself, so you can't adjust the length easily. It would have been nicer if this was a modular connector on both the input and output so you could use whatever cable length fit your installation.5. At full power, these LED panels are super bright! I can't imagine using these at full power for under-cabinet lighting, though maybe for another use... I used a Kill-A-Watt for power measurement coming out of the wall socket. Full power for the LED panels I installed uses 30W. A comfortable mood lighting level for the kitchen uses about 10W or even a little less once it's dark everywhere else. A comfortable work lighting level (so I chop the veggies and not my fingers) uses about 16W-20W, so basically 2/3 power. The box says each LED panel emits light over a 90 degree arc and gives 220lux at 50cm and 55lux at 1m.6. My counter top is granite, and the LED panels reflect off the shiny granite surface. Depending on where I'm standing, I can easily see the reflection of each string of individual LEDs, and this can be a little distracting. I may have to look into some kind of diffuser, possibly simply applying white masking tape over each LED panel. I think most under-cabinet LED lights will suffer from a similar problem, and its more an artifact of my shiny counter top rather than a problem with these particular LEDs.7. Normally, I see no flicker and the dimmed LED panels are very comfortable to look at. However, when there is something moving rapidly like running water in the sink, I can see a strobe effect from the dimmer's PWM. It is pretty minor and would only bother the most discriminating people. But it is definitely noticeable, though only with the dimmer engaged.Overall, I'm very happy and would recommend these LEDs. This is a good combination of a usable set of LEDs, wiring, power supply, and dimmer, and the general installation is pretty easy requiring no soldering and only a little drilling and stapling. 5Product failed. Fire hazard with power supply. Don't get me started with merchant!Don't even begin to order this product from the seller/distributor. They guarantee help and replacement up to years. Yet, don't worry. They failed short on me.Would not help me when multiple lights of theirs failed. They would not even listen.I had received tons of dud lights. And they immediately said it was not their fault. So ridiculous. Don't put in that there's going to be guaranteed replacement parts, paid by you, when you don't care about helping when a customer gets DUD products!Furthermore, I followed the correct wattage with the lights THAT DID WORK, and the power supply is rated for 25W. Well, I only had HALF of that wattage in lights, and the power supply was HOT TO THE TOUCH, to where I felt like I was touching a stove top!Beware and go elsewhere. I am sure others will help you. 1Not a very warm "warm white", but there is a solution...I ordered the warm white and, the box said it was warm light but it didn't really look warm to me. I found some self adhesive amber colored vinyl tint for automotive lights [...] and they work great. Im still sort of experimenting with it. To cover them completely may be too warm for me, but if I cut small sections and space them out over the lights and that cools them down. The bigger the spacing, the cooler it gets. So basically, you can make them as warm as you like. You could probably double up on the tine to make it super warm if that's your preference. With the tint I have though, it may be too orange. There may be other tints to give off a better warm color, but its working out for my needs. 4Nice lights! Can't beat it for the price. 12 lights is enough to provide good light. I hard-wired it to a switch. I will admit there is a delay when switching it on but that is to be expected since power has to be restored to the transformer. If I leave the switch on and use the built-in switch on the dimmer, it comes on immediately. 5
