Customer Reviews

Pretty, but hit or miss quality; responsive seller I've bought 3 of these strings over 3 years (2 3-years ago and 1 a few months ago). They are very pretty, the color changing is relaxing, and overall they're very nice decorations. Unfortunately they are not very good quality (at least the one I bought recently isn't)--the strand I received a month ago was shipped with exposed soldering (YIKES!) and has completely died within a month. The ones I still have are working fine for now, but I'm really disappointed in the one I bought recently and would not recommend buying these if they are having such hit-or-miss quality controlEDIT:I contacted the seller after writing this review and they were quick to send a replacement set free of charge. Not sure if the set I had was a fluke, but at least the seller is helpful. Be warned that when these fail, the entire strand fails and the bulbs are hard-wired in so can't be replaced 4Always looking for the good ball lights and these are them! I run a burning man camp and these are great for our low key spaces-- they color change in a pleasing way and are the right level of brightness. Unfortunately, half the time I order ball lights through amazon, I get crazy blinking ones that you have to reset with a remote control every time they lose power (e.g. shutting off the generator), which are really untenable. But these are the good ones! I stocked up. 5Terrible! Hot glued junk, that falls apart. I bought 2 sets of similar lights, which were awesome, except they couldn't connect together. I bought these thinking they would be the same quality. I was wrong. They are junk. Little white balls just hot glued to a string of led lights. The balls fall off so easy. I buy a lot from Amazon, this is the worst thing I have ever bought. Unfortunately I bought enough to do the whole house. These shouldn't even be for sale, complete junk. Also they have an up for a week and half quit working. 1Fantastic lights I am really happy with these Christmas lights, they look fantastic on my tree. The lights fade very slowly (New color every 1-5 seconds) between colors and it is a really nice effect. I found that 8 strands covers a 7' tree fairly nicely. The only negative I can think of is that the lights do tend to appear in blue/white/purple more than any other color. 5Not just for Christmas! 24/7 What delightful lights! Softly, gradually color changing, mesmerizing.Definitely NOT annoying like most changing-color lights are (to me).I put them up around an old green Christmas wreath and hung it on my carport. At night when I came home from work, I'd just sit there in my car for a few minutes and watch them,so very relaxing. They first were put up and turned ON on Thanksgiving and stayed on 24/7 until 31 January! They looked like "new" and changed color just fine the entire 2 months they stayed ON.I have carefully tucked them away to use next year.In the meantime, my granddaughter wants a set to use inside her apartment asa year-round decorating effect since she loved the soft, soothing colors and their changing colors. This set of lights was, to me, definitely worth this higher price. 5Love them I thought I would try these, save some electricity, reduce fire risk, and check out the color changing aspect, making it easier to get the colors evenly spread on the tree. They work great in all respects. The color change is more of a slow fade from one color into another, subtle and not really noticeable unless you watch one bulb. They do fade into pastel colors between the brights, so it is a little different from tradition. They are bright and vibrant. I accidentally ordered another string of lights that were similar, but were 'twinkling', and they flash very fast. Both lights were described as LED color changing lights and no way to identify how fast or slow they change without reading the reviews, and I don't know how accurately the reviews are posted with the actual product purchased. So... LED wholesalers lights are linkable ( plug two sets together) and slow changing, the others are NOT linkable and flash. Hope this helps. 5Ignore reviews older than 2016: Typical Amazon bait and switch. Any reviews older than 2016 should be deleted. I've bought two sets of these. The first set was back in 2013 and worked great. Bought another in early 2016 and while they had worked fine for the 5 minutes that I tested them before putting them back in the box, it turns out in the intervening months they're already dead. The two versions are noticeably different; in the first version the bulb covers were nice and flush, whereas the more recent version has bulb covers superglued on (with string hanging off) and gaps between the bulb and the cover. The boxes they came in also changed, and the wires changed to a darker shade of green. 1Unusual, cool lights! Love these lights! They are gorgeous, and unlike anything you can buy in a brick and mortar store. I love how the colors look in the frosted globes, and they have a fair amount of brightness for how small the LED light bulb is. I will say that a few of the globes on each strand were loose in the box, or would come off very easily if pulled. We don't get a lot of bad weather here in Phoenix, but I felt that the bulb covers should be sealed to keep out dust or dampness. I used a low-temp glue gun, and sealed around each frosted globe. Yes, it was a bit of work (we linked 5 strands on our patio), but I loved the way the lights looked, so no big deal. It took me about 45 minutes, but was super easy, and now every globe is sealed. I should mention that the frosted globes are plastic, which is nice if you drop the strand, or it falls...no broken glass everywhere. These are the only linkable (can plug end to end multiple strands) lights like this I've seen, and I'm SO glad I took a chance and ordered them! Also, it seems there is a limited quantity this seller will sell via Prime, so if the listing shows a shipping charge, wait until more are in stock, and you can probably get them via Prime eventually. I put the lights in my cart under "save for later", ad snapped them up when they were available again with Prime. 5Would be in every household if it were of better build quality Would give it 5 stars if the frosted globe ends weren't so intent on falling off and the cable ends didnt fall apart. These are build like crap. The manufacturer could improve on this product dramatically with minimal cost increase, by using something like heat-shrink tubing on each bulb socket to keep the wires + bulb end more "together" (wires tends to fray & pop out of the socket if you move the lights around). I'd like to be far more critical/harsh of this product simply because the build quality of these is noticeably inferior to a $2 set similar-length of christmas-lights you can find at a drug store. I bought these when they were $20ea, so i have $80 in "christmas lights" that just fell apart on me. But i keep taping them up, fixing them, and the effect they have on a room is worth the bother.HOWEVER:I have concluded at this time, no one else in the world seems to sell this style of "frosted bulb" slow change RGB LED christmas light strands.Since no one else makes anything better than this, and it would be insane for me to try and make these myself.. ill rate it as 3 stars for its obvious mechanical defects, but is otherwise almost a great/perfect product. I got my moneys worth out of it, despite having to be super careful and still damaging the strands. I'll even buy more. But maybe 1 or 2 more. if they were of better quality i would be buying 20 or 30 sets. Im serious (please, manufacturer, make these less fally-aparty and you have all of my money!!) These make any depressing mildew basement into a "sort of cool hang out space". Guests, family.. everyone asks me about them, wants to know where to buy them, but sighs when they see how easily they break when touched/moved.I have owned these roughly a year, 4 sets. After 1 Christmas, 2 camping events, and one house-party, i only have two working sets left. OK, they all work, but 2 of the 4 have wires that fell off, and can no longer use them all in series/one long big strand. Each strand has at least one blown-out light, where it begins to flicker like crazy as it transitions to a color. One LED might have blue totally burned out, another might have the RED channel dead, so as it transitions you will see a bulb flicker and "burn out", only to flicker back to life 10 seconds later. I'd say ive moved these lights a total of 7 or 8 times . Wrapped them around my christmas tree carefully, unwrapped the tree and hung them around my living room, moved them to my basement, put them on my porch once.Another problem is their tendency to easily reset if there is any commotion on your electric circuit. Inductive loads seem to reliably trip this light-set into "everything red, i am just plugged in for the first time" mode. Such as, if my refrigerator in the kitchen comes on, half the time the lights will reset to red. If I turn my shop-vac on anywhere in the home, i'm almost guaranteed to have them reset back to red. Its not really a problem, just can startle guests if all of a sudden all of the lighting around them snaps to red.Slow transitions, colors look great. Blue seems to emit a bit of UV and gives a really cool look to anything nearby it.Another interesting thing, is these work just fine on inexpensive power-inverters (modified sine wave). They use around 2-3W per strand, or roughly what a single night-light uses! Treat these lights like they are made out of glass, and they should last quite a while. 3Beautiful, but lousy quality control. As others have described, they are beautiful. So much so that I bought 2 more sets even though the first was damaged. They all work, but 2 of 3 sets had defects. One was missing the plastic globe on an LED. Another was entirely missing an LED with wires soldered together. Not even a bit of electrical tape to cover the bare wires. That's not acceptable. Maybe factory defects, maybe seconds or returns, but either way LEDwholesalers packages them and is responsible. So you might buy them for the nice colors and subtle changes, but be prepared to repair or replace. 3
