Customer Reviews

Works just as it shouldthankfully I have been using it for over 2 months (I think lol) and to this day it has worked perfectly. I am using an AMD processor and being that this item is labelled as INTEL it works fine. Only mentioning this to those who may not know it'll will still work as long as you have the correct port for it. I've bridged my connections with the one on my motherboard and this one and I'm in love with how much faster everything loads. As far as providing an individual review on how it works I can't say, but Its been working great for me because it continues to work as a bridged connection. The packaging that it came in was BASIC lol, no labels, names, brands box, just the plastic hard cover and well the item itself of course. 5These cards have been helpfulWe have some dated (over 4 year old) desktops, and have done some upgrades to them over time (new video cards, new hard drives, new DVD burners, and after the rest of the house went gigabit we wanted new network cards as our old PC's only supported fast ethernet). This Intel card is not only fast, but offloads a bunch of stuff to the card, helping to improve overall PC performance. We purchased a bunch from another site, and after about a year, one failed. After deciding to replace it, the price winner for a single unit was Amazon. If you need gigabit speed, and have an older PC, this may help a bit. It seemed to lower our overall CPU consumption and network responsiveness seemed slightly improved. Though we have no real way to accurately measure what changes occurred with respect to network performance as a result of installing this card. The jumbo frame support seems to be inconsistent between various vendors, after a lot of experimentation, it seemed better to disable rather than enable it. Traffic on our LAN and across internet grows every year. With these cards, we'll be set until we need the next generation of PC. 5Great speeds!!This network card literally supercharged my wired internet connection. Using my PC as a network attached storage system (NAS), I used to be only able to net about 5MBps of write speed. After installing this guy, it's not uncommon to see that number tripled. Yes, 15MBps is not out of line now.I didn't do much shopping for the network card, and just kind of bought the highest rated card from the brand I knew, and it seems there are cheaper options out there--but if this card is in your budget, I would highly recommend it.Note: I also have the PCI-e version, and it works just the same. Both have been well worth the $$.Using a Xfinity Blast Pro package, along with an Asus AC68 router. The quoted speeds above are from a laptop, connected wirelessly to my router.Previous network card was by RealTek--just the built-in card found on my motherboard. 5Vyatta is Happy and So am I!Used this NIC in a Vyatta box I just built - couldn't be happier. The OS recognized the NIC right away, and it performs with incredibly high efficiency. Not much to say about a product that 'just works.'The simple fact is that when computer components like this are working, you won't know they're doing anything at all. I give this NIC high marks for it's build quality and optional low profile adapter bundled with the card.It works marvelously - buy this nic! 5Intel NIC Pro 1000 GT DesktopThe NIC card works just great in my Desktop and helps me to finish installing Hyper-V in Windows 2008 R2 . It is automatically recognized by Win2K8 R2 server and the drivers are installed immediately. I am very satisfied with the NIC card and the fast shipping I got from the vendor. I got the card ahead of time. I would definitely use this vendor again and Intel products. 5Good network adapter and works with VMWare ESX 6.7I have been building some home lab servers using some workstations and found that this NIC works good with VMWare 6.7. 5Works with Windows 7 64bitFirst, this particular Amazon supplier ships the card 'bare' including an additional half-height bracket for low profile cases. But you won't need anything else to get this card running. This card was entirely plug-and-play for me in my Windows 7 64bit system with 4 Gb ram -- I disabled the on-the-motherboard network adapter in my BIOS at bootup, and Windows found and installed drivers for this card automatically -- in a minute I was downloading email through my network.I wish we had more information from the few reviewers who had issues with Windows 7 drivers in 2010 -- the driver Windows automatically installed sucessfully for me was dated 2008. Perhaps, as one reviewer noted, there is an issue with certain motherboard chipsets. There is an issue with Windows 7 64-bit systems with more than 4Gb ram installed with various devices and drivers.Anyway this card worked great for me and roughly doubled the download speed I was getting from my poor integrated lan adapter. 5I went to the Intel site and found them easily under: Product family Network Connectivity Product line Intel ...I was upgrading my network backbone to Gigabit and I needed a PCI card for my 2003 server since the server hardware is older and does not have any PCI-E slots. This card works well.I don't know why other reviewers had trouble finding drivers for this card. I went to the Intel site and found them easily under:Product familyNetwork ConnectivityProduct lineIntel Desktop AdaptersProduct nameIntel PRO/1000 GT Desktop AdapterHowever, I will say that the "All in one" driver package did get confused by the fact that my server had an "on-board" 100m Intel NIC that the package kept trying to update the drivers for rather than installing the drivers for the new Gigabit card. I had to disable the on-board card before the driver package would find the new card and install the drivers for it. 4Upgrade for 33/66Mhz Bus MotherboardPros: A little faster then the older E100 cards.Cons: Does not have a WOL/Wake-On-Lan cable and cable power/voltage port for motherboards requiring power to the ethernet PCI card/bus for WOL function. As I needed WOL, I resolved this by keeping my old Intel E100 card and moving it to the PCI slot #1 (adjacent to the AGP video slot as I only use this for a file server) and added this newer card to the empty slot. Hence, I now have dual/multiple nics. The old NIC is for providing WOL functionality while the computer is off, and the new NIC provides network access. (The O/S is configured to ignored or disable the old Intel e100 NIC card. Could also be used as a fallback or providing additional network, off-loading local traffic to the newer card or vice-versa.)NOTE: No power cord or plug for motherboards with PCI slots requiring additional power for WOL. My workaround, was to leave the old Intel 10/100 network card installed which had the power for WOL feature. 4Turned an older system into a much faster home media serverInstalled this card into an older Dell Core 2 Duo system that is acting as our home media server. Running Win7 64 bit and 3 HDDs and having a gigabit switch in the house, the bottleneck was the old 10/100 card on the motherboard. Popped in this card and Win7 64 picked it up immediately without having to use the included driver CD. Moving a 6GB file from one 7200rpm HDD to the media server, I achieved over 59MB/s which was a huge improvement. If you're looking to take an older desktop machine and turn it into a poor man's file server, this is a great investment. 5
