    Expensive ones are worth it.A few years ago I bought a dozen of T3 bulbs from some generic brand at a small fraction of the price I paid for these. The cheap ones I bought would burn out after only a few hours. Since I had two flood lights, one which has been using the same bulb for years, and the other that was going through bulbs every few hours, I though the problem was with the one light. I replaced the head unit, re-did all the wiring leading to the light, but no luck - still chewed through light bulbs. It was not until I came to Amazon and read reviews did I realize the culprit was the cheap bulbs. The one light that has been working non stop for years has an old high quality bulb in it and has never been replaced. I put in one of these new (expensive) bulbs and have not had a burn out. Unfortunately, there is a huge difference between the cheap-no name bulbs and these GE branded bulbs. Whoever is making/selling the cheap junk should be ashamed of themselves!5Great lightI got these for a torchiere lamp and they work perfectly.I considered getting a 500 watt bulb as that s the max rating for my lamp but I thought that would put out too much heat.The light is very easy on the eyes and makes working much easier than with LED or Fluorescent lighting.I m tempted to buy more in case they end up banned. My last bulb lasted 5 years. I could get a lifetime of these for a reasonable price.5works fine but cannot touch with your skin or will smoke!this works fine but extremely important: you cannot have your skin come in contact with the bulb or it will smoke and burn out. found this out the hardware, apparently you need to handle this with a tissue or glove to avoid the skin oils touching the bulb. I find it very strange there is no warning or indication of this on the actual packaging so only found this out from an electrician after i busted two of these. aside from that once installed without touching it, works fine3I hoped maybe the poor appearance wasn't a true indicator of the quality of ...This product must be a knock-off, because I know GE dos not make cheap, low-quality products. When the bulbs arrived, I immediately noticed that they were not high quality. The leads were not well-attached to the bulb, and some of the polymer that had been uses to attached the leads had been smeared on the glass. I hoped maybe the poor appearance wasn't a true indicator of the quality of the bulb, but after a few months, the bulb burnt out and fried the socket I'd plugged it into.I don't believe that this is an actual GE product.1Very Bright Bulbs for a Great PriceThese bulbs are seriously bright. We have a very large living room and no light fixture. I know it's dumb but we are renting, so it is what it is. I purchased a cheap halogen lamp which came with a 190W bulb. It was OK but the room looked very dim. These bulbs are amazing. The room was instantly transformed; a single bulb completely lit a very large living room (estimate the size to be 20' X 40', maybe more) with very high ceilings.Have purchased these in the past and will definitely be purchasing more in the future.5GE Lighting 22489 100-Watt Halogen... good purchaseI had purchased this bulb 2 pack for $5.87 on Oct, 2012 and installed one of the light immediately and this bulbs is still working good. No problem installing and it was shipped and delivered very fast. I remember looking for this type of bulb in Staples and other local stores with no luck , so i was happy to find it on Amazon. Yes I would recommend this product!5Great product, great price.Pay attention to the heat warning. Also, I don't know if this emits UV. But, It's a great lamp bulb replacement.This bulb replaces the one in a cheapo torchiere that has stood (well supported, recommended) next to my bed for three decades. It is the first replacement bulb I have purchased. I cleaned it with an alcohol wipe after installation and hope it will last as long as its predecessor.Wattage is about half of the predecessor, so I purchased a set of five 300 watt replacements for about the same money. I don't know if I will switch, but I expect my set of bulbs will outlive me.5the lamp that had been in good working orderI just installed one of these bulbs and want to pass on information. First, Amazon's posting correctly says this bulb is made in China. However, the manufacturer's specs, further down the page, says the bulb was made in Hungary. This is no longer true, although earlier they were made in Hungary, as the expired bulb I removed from my desk lamp, also a GE T-3 100W, was made in Hungary. I had difficulty installing the bulb in my double spring socket for a desk lamp. I cleaned the contacts and tested the springs before trying to install the bulb (using rubber gloves). But on the first try, the lamp that had been in good working order, didn't illuminate, I reversed the position of the bulb in the contact spring brackets, but it still didn't illuminate. I took it to my favorite hardware store, prepared to buy a new bulb or to pronounce my lamp dead. The employees were wonderful at the hardware store and they tested my lamp, which proved to be working, and reinstalled the bulb twice. Finally, it worked. What I noticed, comparing Chinese and Hungarian workmanship, is that its ends, which are ceramic, were very rough and crumbly looking at the Chinese product, although in th end it worked. The burned out old bulb made in Hungary also had ceramic ends, but their edges were finely finished. Maybe this doesn't make a difference. But 2 tries at home, 2 tries at the hardware store with 2 employees familiar with this kind of bulb, is what it took for this bulb to light up.3perfect - no hassles! happy momma!Don't fool with the "cheap" ones - get this one. Trust me. I'm thrifty. I bought the cheap ones... I ended up cursing them every day. Finally I said Fine, I'll try the "real" one, the "expensive" one and see how IT does.Holy Crap. it performs flawlessly.The others blew in a matter of days or a couple of weeks, and every day I had to twist the bulb to get it to turn "on". My husband said it was the lamp. psssssh. I put this "real deal" in -- and perfection.I have not had to adjust the bulb daily, no twisting, no turning, no blowing out quickly. It is just what a bulb should be!!Sometimes, you can do just fine with an off brand - but not in this case. The off brands are not quite the same length, just a smidge off. This is perfect! Thank you!!!!5Extremely Short LIfe - Only 5 hoursThis bulb only lasted about 2 months. I put the bulb in a floodlight by my back door. I only used the light for about 5 minutes a day when I let my dog out at night, so it lasted for about 5 hours of use. The bulb I replaced was at least 10 years old! In fact I can't recall ever replacing the bulb since I installed the fixture 25 years ago when I moved here. I had some trouble prying the fixture open after so much time. This bulb seemed brighter than the old bulb, but I was very shocked and disappointed when it burned out so soon. I will look for a different brand to replace it with.2
