Customer Reviews

Works great to connect my Sony A7Rii to my telescope. Attaches as follows: camera>this Fotasy t-ring>t-mount>telescope. I use a different Fotasy t-ring for a different camera mfr and I can use the same t-mount. Works great. You can use an extra camera end lens cap to cover one end, but I need to find something to cover the threaded end.I don't have a 2" telescope plug to try. Interior is about 42mm diameter. 5Simple well made manual focus adaptor. I've now purchased three adaptors from Fotasy to adapt legacy lenses to my Sony a7ii. The Minolta, Canon FD, and M42. They all seem solid, and attach to my a7 with no issues. The Minolta is ma favorite mainly because the lenses are affordable and I tend to adapt more of those. They also look nice and professional which is a plus. People never seem to realize I'm using 35 year old lenses on my camera. The M42 one is great too, and so is the Canon FD, although the mechanism to lock and open the aperture is stiff. That isn't a real issue if you attach everything properly and can use it's aperture ring on the lens. Overall I love that this item is not only well made, but it also opens the affordable (for now) world of legacy glass on a modern digital camera. 5Fotasy Exakta to Sony e Adapter Needs Improvement The Fotasy Exakta to Sony e mount adapter rates 3 stars. The good thing is that the Sony e-mount sides of the adapters fit well. The not-so-good things are two problems with the Exakta side. First, on two of the adapters, end of the spring protruded through the hole in the catch lever and contacted the rear of of the lens or Exakta bayonet extension tube. Thus, it did not fit. Second, on all five of the adapters I tried, the flanges on the rear of the lens bayonet collided with the flanges of the Fotasy adapter. Therefore, I used a cheap "aftermarket" exakta bayonet extension tube and torque to force it open. About 15 to 20 turns were required to fix it (Do not do this procedure with a good lens!!!), plus I removed any metal bits released. Once this was done, the adapters worked. Finally, on the good side, Fotasy replaced two adapters that did not work. My recommendation is that Fotasy refine its production machining so that this additional effort is not required to make them work. I suggest that the new batches be tested and labeled as improved. 3Do not recommend this item I was pleased when I took this out of the packaging. It seemed decent enough. I attached it to my Sony camera and it went on smoothly. Then I added the Canon lens, which went on fine. Everything was okay, UNTIL I went to remove my lens. I couldn't get it OFF. PANIC! The unit came off the camera body okay - it was getting it to separate from the lens. I tried everything - and there was no support number for the manufacturer (wonder why). . .(could it be because of where it was made. . .?) Two hours later, after much fretting about and a sickness too much to describe, I managed to get it off by working it from the inside of the ring. If you want to chance it for the savings. . .well, its a risk. I did get it off by working it from the inside. As for me, I'm getting the expensive model. This is a piece of "S - - -!" 1Excellent quality & price-point. Basic Lens Adapter for my EOS EF mount Lens I took a chance and purchased this lens adapter for the Sony A7Rii. I was a little puzzled as to how to remove the adapter. The instructions were simple and I was quickly up and running. The adapter is made from sturdy material. It fits perfectly (stayed secured and intact). Keep in mind that there is no electrical contact in the ring. What this means is that the aperture, focus, etc. is all manual. This is perfect for my manual lenses (e.g., Rokinon, Zeiss); however Canon L lenses won't work. No electronic communication between the ring adapter.I'm happy with the purchase and purchase and price-point. Would recommend for manual lens only. 5Works with all my old Minolta mounts on Sony a7ii I purchased this adapter to use my old Minolta film lenses on my sony a7ii. Works perfect. Nice tight fit, no wobble anywhere even with a heavy 135 prime. Infinity focus works fine. Being able to use focus peaking makes using these lenses pretty easy.TIP: When taking a lens off the adapter, the release point is slightly before the full counter clockwise turn. I thought my lens was stuck the first time but figured it out.Attached is an image I took with Minolta 135 2.8 on sony a7ii body 5Good as any other I spent 45 minutes completing a detailed review of other items.. Probably more useful to any future buyer has left, to help future buyers in making the most important decisions and info for the correct size to order, a major problem in the review and problem with a purchase. After trying to provide a pic to my review, My entire review was lost. I will NOT ever spend or waste my time on reviews. NEVER EVER again. When asked to review a product DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!. You will not be compensated for your time and if the review is lost you will get no compensation from AMAZON. 5The Perfect Product for the price - Fair quality and it does the job for a fair price I used this adapter on my Sony A7ii purchasing 2 of them. The build quality is amazing, there is no gap and the adapter fits perfectly to the A7 E-mount. One of the 2 items came perfect, while the second has is very tight for an adapter built to have a button release and change the lens on the go. The other adapter was simply perfect and I can't complain at all. Since I purchase an adapter for every lens I use: much more comfortable with the idea of having lenses ready to go, the fast release button is not a big deal and so the "tight" item which came is not a problem at all to me.I tried many items on the Market for Nikon Manual Lenses Pre AI (I have a bunch of Nikon-Q Lenses) and this adapter is the only one with no issues at all. In long exposures no light filters through the plastic mount and the camera and the same is for the metal Nikon female Mount. It was not available in Amazon Italy and I ordered it in U.S, why?- Overall the price is fair, not really cheap but it's the best value for the money: cheaper adapters have issues. This one is perfect and will do the job with manual Nikon Lenses- The built quality is not outstanding: the male E-Mount is made out of plastic, if on one hand this sounds bad, it's good because it's not going to make damages to your camera as other cheaper adapters which are made out of cheap metals and will scratch the native Female E-Mount, even if it's out of plastic light does not filters in and this is another good reason to buy it. Long exposures are guaranteed. The Nikon Mount is perfect and made out of good quality metal, even if there was that annoying difference which make one adapter perfect and the other very tight (but still usable), so it would be a painful process using the release metal button to change the lens. I decided to take it.- Cheaper adapters have sometimes major issues, while this model is simple but works well, it costs for not having any electrical parts but it's a fair price to pay if you use old manual lenses.- I use the strategy One adapter - One Lens: if you are like me, this is the product made for you. In case it has the release button which comes handy if you want to switch lens.- No loss of light: I tried my Nikon Lenses in my lab with a Nikon D750 and the Adapter paired with a Sony A7ii: I had equivalent result in terms of lighting while shooting both with the Nikon and the Sony. Same aperture/iso/shutter speed: same histogram on Lightroom.- The same brand and model has almost every kind of Mount (Canon/Minolta....).I'm enjoining this product very much. 5Great FD mount adapter for a7s. I bought this to mount a Canon nFD lens on a Sony a7s. The initial mounting was a little weird and now understand why canon ditched this mount. But once you get it to mount it feels very solid. No play whatsoever. For a $15 mount this is awesome. I have a metabones adapter for Nikon lenses and there is some play. That thing cost $100. I might get a fotasy one to try it out and replace it. 5A good, well-built M42 adapter You can't really screw up an M42 adapter, and this is no exception. Fairly well made, no obvious problems. As an adapter, it's excellent and I'd have no issues with buying it again. There's no light leakage that I've been able to determine. I didn't notice any reflections or other issues, though it'd have been nice if the interior was covered in a felt-like covering like I've seen on some other (non-M42) adapters. The only issue I have is with how the metal insert containing the lens threading is held in place. There are three small set screws, which let you adjust it in case your lenses are a bit off (that way, your DoF chart on your lens, for instance, is always centered at the top). They came a bit loose despite minimal use (possibly loose from the factory), and it really screwed with my head for a few minutes when my lens was spinning around like something out of the Exorcist. When I finally got the lens off, it hit me why. I also noticed some small metal shavings that look to have either shaken loose from underneath the M42 insert itself or were created when I had to fight a bit with the lens.I strongly suggest loosening the set screws and using a blower to get rid of any debris under the ring just in case before tightening them back up. And periodically checking the set screws to make sure that nothing has come loose with time.Despite that, I'm quite satisfied with both Fotasy's M42 adapter. I also own a Nikon G adapter from them and have had zero issues with it. Will buy again from Fotasy in the future. 3
