The manufacturer sets a high standard.The directions are complete & concise. The manufacturer's respect for their customers is further reflected by color coding all connections & including a hole saw for installation of the sensors. Very refreshing after some of my other shopping experiences.5Great sensorsJust installed these today. They work great and are easy to install. My other car came with sensors and don t have a display for the meter where it beeps anywhere on my dash. So instead of going through the hassle of routing the beeper to the front dash, I left it in the back (2004 4Runner). It s loud when it beeps so I don t need to see the display, I just listen to it.If your number is metal, go get the right drill bit for your car. This drill bit is made for plastic bumpers. Don t use the drill bit on a metal bumper then give a bad review bc it didn t drill through...5Once you get past the Drilling, it isnt that bad In this day and age, you expect modern vehicles to come standard with features such as parking sensors. The Toyota 4Runner is one of the few exceptions.Installed this kit on my 2018 Toyota 4Runner. Outside of the Drilling, it is as simple as any other modification/upgrade you can do to your vehicle. Feeding and hiding the wiring under the vehicle was pain free, and tapping into the correct wiring was as simple as a quick google search.Unless you have a lift, majority of the work is done from under the vehicle, so prepare for that.The sensors seem to be sensitive at specific points, with the full tone (Red warning) being at 12 inches. This sensitivity works exceptionally well for me, even with a Ball installed in my hitch. I spaced the sensors where I thought they would be useful, ignoring the spacing recommended in the minimal instructions included (One small sheet of paper). I found my placement to be perfect (I did keep in mind the area of effectiveness noted in the Instructions), with room for the planned suspension changes I will be making before year end. I added a bead of silicone around each sensor to help keep them secure long term, as well as keeping water where it doesnt belong.Tools needed:Drill (Kit includes needed hole bit)Flathead Screw Driver (For removing sensors if you need to make adjustments)Wire StripperSoldering Iron (If you plan to solder the splice points)Panel ToolsElectrical Tape or Heat ShrinkSiliconeInstallation took 30 minutes from start to finish. I was well prepared and had a plan in place.4Revised- 2 bad sensors replaced by sellerSystem can be annoying when beeping so I decided to install a kill/override switch on the constant power (red) wire. This was great for the first few seconds until I drove and realized every time I hit my brakes or went into reverse or turned on my left blinker(brake light), the system would gain power through the trigger lines. I was able to rewire and suggest put a kill/override switch to the ground as I did to prevent powering the unit when you intend for it to be turned off. If I could get product support and a replacement of the two bad sensors I could rate this a 4 star system for a DIY or mechanically inclined individual to install and allow several hours.* Revised *Finally got in touch with the seller who was behind but did get back with me after a few attempts and they are replacing the two bad sensors- awaiting shipping/arrival- can move to 4 stars. Highly recommend wire to the ground a switch to override the annoying beep if you want to turn it off and not wait the 15 seconds.4Save yourself a lot of money from a dealer. But plan plan plan.The value is awesome and install is pretty easy. I only wished the range was a bit further (but it is still good) and the wires were pre-labeled - keep reading if you need install help. I installed these on my 2008 Escape XLT. The blue color was real close to the blue on the car. Spent most of my time planning and comparing heights and widths with other cars similar to mine for drilling holes. Once I had everything marked out, I drilled with the included bit. It was very easy to do. Make sure you also double check behind the bumper that you don t drill into anything you re not supposed to. Splicing into the backup light was very easy. If your wires are thick enough, try using a push in wire connector, simple to do. When running the wires from the bumper through the car, make sure you get a wire harness cover to protect them. Take some tape or a label and label the wires for the letters of each sensor. They aren t labeled and this will save for having to trace them back. Then all you have to do is mount the display on the rear view mirror, run the wires through the trim (most panels should pop out - check YouTube if you need it). Then just secure the wires in the small exposed part by the ceiling. If you don t have something right away to secure them, you can have them held up with the sun visor.5Picking the right spot to mountI mounted on the front bumper of a pickup, which is metal. You have to use a 22 mm metal cutting drill bit, because the one with the kit is for plastic ONLY. And the cheapest is from Amazon, which is a third of the price of buying locally. As you see that I mounted the outside ones on the curve, which mounted very well considering, but they are picking up vehicles as you meet them. The middle ones were harder, because putting the approximate OD of the sensor on an area of one inch with a bevel. I pull my power from the fuse box off the cruise control. So I guess I will have to install a switch because of the sensor screen keeps beeping every now and then, but finding a spot with all the other stuff behind the dash cover.4Works great! Installation was complicatedWell the saw that came with the package did nothing to my F150's rear metal bumper... Had to buy a special 22mm saw (orange one) and adaptor that cost me an extra 15 bucks... For a full size pickup truck, the length of the cables it's just really tight, I put the screen on my dashboards left side and had to put the brain inside a latex glove near the spare tire..., I gave it 3 stars because of that, but other than that it works great!3Works but read comments.System works with these complaints. Note: In service for 1 day.1. All sensors work. But connections to G H do not. You can see a difference in drawing provided.2. Beeper it extremely loud. No volume control. I had to remove the medal plate in the monitor unit. Now silent.3. The hole saw is made only for plastic. Cuts perfect hole.4. Sensors are somewhat large. Bigger then currently installed newer cars. About an inch.5. Short cables are very short. Had to extend length by splicing.4Worse, the hole saw is too bigjust installed the sensors. It is working though I have not tested it long enough to see how accurate it is. 2 issues: the beeping sound is very loud, don't think there is any way to volume down. Worse, the hole saw is too big, the sensors can't stay put. quality of the hole saw is bad, the drill in the middle is not set right, it wobbles when it turns.3Just BARELY enough wire length on the display!I installed this on my 2002 Ford Ranger XLTIt's a very small pickup truck, but If the wire on the display was even an inch shorter, I wouldn't have been able to put the display where I wanted it.Luckily it all worked out. I have the display pasted to the top of the dash on the passenger side angled towards me.The wire leads down the side of the dash, under the panel, under the carpet and out a unused factory grommet. The control box is mounted behind the passenger side tail light on the sheet metal bundled with the excess wire from the sensors.This sensor kit works! As you reverse it doesn't make any sound at all until you come up very close to an object (a little too close if you ask me). The beeps get faster and faster as you get closer, until it goes into a solid tone when you're maybe a foot away.I only wish the sensors picked up on objects a little further away. Sometimes I'll reverse up close to something and feel like I'm going to hit it before the sensors even make a sound. "Are they not working...? should I just trust it?"These sensors have me uneasy all the time. I need a little more buffer room to be comfortable backing into something. Haven't bumped into anything yet though.3
