Customer Reviews

Half the tape, twice the price I use multi-colored masking tape in a variety of projects for temporary marking and organizing, but I didn't have any black. So, I bought a roll of ProTapes Pro 46 and Duck Masking 240877. As far as I can tell, the tape is identical. The surface texture, thickness, adhesive, and everything else that I can determine with my eyes tell me these two tapes could have been made in the same factory. And, since they are the same, you are paying twice the price for half the roll if you buy the Duck brand tape. Duck is 30 yards while the ProTapes is 60 yards.Go with the ProTapes here on Amazon.I am giving this tape 3 stars, despite this pricing/value issue. It's pretty good tape. It's not as good of quality as some that 3M makes, but it's still good. 3Safe for Painted Surfaces (decorating vehicles) This stuff is painter's tape in multiple colors. It is the only tape I will use to decorate my jeep for events and parades. I use LED 'fairy' lights and DUCK brand masking tape to attach them. They are on my Jeep starting mid-November, thru new year's. This combination of low-profile lighting and tape will stand up to highway speeds, rain, ice, and snow. It is the ONLY tape I recommend for this type of application. Enjoy! 5the tape i received was dated. i was never able to peel this tape off the roll. every time i tried it would start to tear across the tape to the other side and i would end up with a long skinny piece of torn tape. i tried and tried but it just would not pull straight off the roll without tearing. i should have sent it back but i had already thrown it away. 1If you Need Masking Tape, this is the Brand to Buy You wouldn't think a person could get excited over something as simple as Masking Tape, but I am thrilled. I've suffered through some really awful "off" brands, and I am sold on this Duck brand. I never have a problem with it holding fast or removing cleanly. The off brands either fail to stick or stick so well you can't remove them. I use this masking tape for crafting, mostly covering raw chipboard on the small furniture pieces I make, and it has never let me down. The edges of the tape do get covered over with G45 design paper, but the masking tape holds fast and looks great.Other brands have many more yards per roll (this only has 30 yards) but it is the only brand I will use. And Duck Black Masking Tape is only $3.44 on Amazon right now, thanks to the Add On Program, so there's very little to lose by trying it out. 5Tearstooeasy I needed black masking tape for one of my eighth grade art classes so I saw this and thought it would fit the bill. I probably wasted 6 feet of tape before I could get a piece longer than an inch to come off it just tore in peace little piece a little piece and little I needed black masking tape for one of my eighth grade art classes so I saw this and thought it would fit the bill. I probably wasted 6 feet of tape before I could get a piece longer than an inch to come off it just torn off In tiny pieces and I needed 10 long sections. Definitely not the quality that I thought the Duck brand would bring 2Great HPDE / Track Day Alternative to 3M Painter's Tape for the Aesthetically Minded Driver: Just Beware of Water! This product worked great as a track-day alternative to the standard blue 3M Painter's tape. It protected my bumper from unwanted knicks due to rocks and tire chunks at multiple events. People could hardly tell that I even taped up my front bumper until they took a close look, in person or on photos. I would say it takes one to two rolls [0.94" x 30 yd] to cover up an entire front bumper. I only used it on my front lip as seen in the pictures. Two rolls (one black and one white) lasted me two applications on that size lip.Pros:* Looks great; convincing in person and in photos* Reasonable tack* Removes without residue (although I wash and seal my car often, and I wiped down the application surfaces)Cons:* At only about 1 Inch wide, somewhat tedious to apply to large areas* Paper backing: Doesn't stretch much; leads to creases and folds in the tape when forming to curves/complex shapes* Paper backing: STAY AWAY FROM WATER! I made sure to apply the tape only the day before and to remove right after since I suspect water will break down the paper backing and leave an annoying adhesive residue (imagine a wet paper barcode label)Otherwise, it did everything I wanted and performed exactly as expected. 4not actually great for masking what strange tape. turned out to not be very good for masking.the adhesive is unexpectedly very strong & the tape itself seems permeable. left on a piece for perhaps two hours. the tape had become extremely well bonded to the base layer of a fast drying spray-on primer. worse, no matter how carefully i peeled it off, it pulled off specks of the primer while also leaving a stretched & damaged line of the acrylic paint top layer. adhesive also strongly bonds to hot glue.the tape material is also strong enough to require non-trivial force to rip. straight lines are basically impossible to rip by hand. cutting the tape with scissors invariably leads to gummed up scissors & weird tearing.just weird stuff. not good for craft painting. 2This tape was a lot like painters tape This tape was a lot like painters tape. We used it to make a track for an indoor race. We put the tape on our brand new hardwood floors. It stayed firmly in position even with lots of traffic going over it yet came right up leaving no sticky residue at all when we removed it. Great color and hard to find color. 5Great for odd crafts I used these to hold Christmas lights on my Jeep and had them on for three weeks in the rain, sun, cold and hit speeds over 65mph and no residue when I removed it. The color blended in perfectly on my hardtop and fender flares. 5stronger than painters tape I got this to make a pattern in the dance floor area for a wedding. It went down great. It didn't come up with lots of people dancing on it. It seemed to peel up easily and the person to the job said there was no residue. The only problem was my maintenance man came to me and said it also peeled up a layer of the wax that was on the tile floor. Oops. We thought the lines left behind showed how dirty the dance floor had gotten. I had been concerned about leaving a residue, I never considered it would take off the wax. 4
