Customer Reviews

Excellent Value for Money Wow can hardly tell the difference from my friends "Real Right STuff" 100$ lens plate fits snugly in my Arca swiss clamp without any movementBRAVO 5Good quality Strong sturdy telephoto foot plate in conjunction with Nikon 200-500 and flask bracket. 5A great product at a moderate price The Desmond DPL 100 QR plate works well with many cameras of the point and shoot varieties. I use this plate on my longer telephoto lenses and mount my camera on the lens for proper balance. A great product at a moderate price. 5Good quality, Inexpensive Arca-Swiss compatible Lens Plate For the price, this is a very good Arca-Swiss lens plate. The Good:The sample I have appears to be dimensionally accurate. The bead-blasted, anodized finish is uniform with no glossy or bare spots.Safety stop screws are included and come installed. The Bad:Thus far, I have not found any negatives with this Arca-Swiss plate. The Untested:I have not used this plate with any Arca-Swiss style, lever actuated quick release clamps. At one time, I had been using the Really Right Stuff LR clamps, but have since migrated entirely to screw-knob clamps (Mostly Wimberly C-12 clamps, some RRS, Hejnar and Kirk). I generally find that the convenience of a LR clamp is minimal when compared to the confidence and adaptability of a screw-knob clamp. 5Fits the 70-200 F2.8 nicely The Desmond DPL-100 QR Lens Plate works well. Nicely constructed and sturdy. Works OK with a Sigma 70-200 F2.8 OS. The price is right compared to some of the better known brands. If you are a on a budget this should be OK. 5Desmond DPL-100 It's an OK plate that serves its purpose. I'm using this on my Go Pro cage to give Arca compatibility. The mounting screw didn't want to go in at first. It probably had some burs on the threads. I swapped out the screw and all was fine. The screw that came with it is working fine now after running it through a nut a couple of times. Overall, it's a good plate despite the screw and should last a long time. 4Works nicely on my Canon 300mm f/2.8 L IS Fits my Canon EF 300mm f/2.8 L IS nicely. I only wish the rear "nubs" were a little larger, but so far they've worked fine (they're actually very similar to Wimberley plates in that regard, but the nubs are a little bit shorter on the Desmond plate). I don't know why Canon decided to make the back of the foot on the 300L rounded instead of flat like the 70-200L IS models, but that makes having a tripod plate that doesn't have the potential to rotate almost impossible. 4I just purchased a second one to use with a ... I just purchased a second one to use with a Nikkor AF-S 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR Lens. The rotation stops can be used on either end of the foot on the lens to keep the lens from twisting on the tripod plate. 5Works and Looks great, It works with RRS Quick release just fine. I would have skip the review of this kind of products, But since I read some reviews that are wrong, I had to write this and help others from being misled.I needed plates for a specific application and these (100mm and 150mm) looked perfect but I was reluctant to get them since some people posted that this was too small to work with RRS QR. I have 2 BH-55 LR ball heads and a RRS PG-02 Full Gimbal-pano head and all worked perfectly with this plate as a mater of fact exactly the same as the $80+ RRS plates, It requires the same pressure as my other RRS plates to lock it. This thing is a bargain at $22. I wish I had found these before spending a fortune on RRS plates. 5The plate is excellent. But the screw is not in par with ... I am using it on my Tamron 150-600. The small rise that protrudes at the boarder at one end keeps this big lens from rotating. The foot of this Tamron has only one groove unlike other telescopic lens foot (e.g. ,Nikon 70-200/2.8 VR II) and rotation of lens even after making it tight is a real issue. The plate is excellent. But the screw is not in par with the plate and that's the only reason I gave it one less star. The material of the screw does not seem to be as sturdy as it should be. I don't think camera comes off it - its not that weak. The provided Allen wrench and the groove at the back of the screw both got damaged a little when I tightened it and I couldn't tighten further. However, it also has a groove where you can use a quarter (better a dollar coin or a bit thicker plate) and you don't need Allen wrench. A smaller Allen wrench is also provided for the two safely screw at the bottom ends. I used to remove one of the screws to fit my PhotoClam ballhead clamp for tripod and Sirui L10 monopod head clamp. For the price point not much complain. 4
