Customer Reviews

Just what I needed for the job!I'd been looking all over the Web for an extra-long grab bar that I could mount vertically, next to a couple dangerous steps going into my laundry room (in a converted garage-cum-bonus room that is not built to code). The steps are steep and slippery, with shallow treads. I wanted something that wasn't too ugly or obtrusive, or "hospital" looking. This bar is not only attractively designed -- visually quiet -- it also has a matte finish that provides traction, and a sturdy mounting bracket. So it's a fully functional item, even though it looks almost decorative when mounted on the wall, lined up with the corner at the bottom of the stairs. I dithered about buying it because of the steep price, especially given that the "traditional" design of the same item (available here on Amazon) costs a lot less (perhaps because it's the old model, and this one is new). But I wanted something plain and modern in shape. If you don't mind a few ornamental curves at the ends of the bar, I recommend that you go for the cheaper version. (Amazon shipped this in a large carton with no padding, so the product box was broken open and destroyed. Pretty disappointing, that.)5Strong & supportive Very nice looking, holds mega size TP rolls easily. Provides the extra needed for balance and support. 5Disappointed in DeltaI read every review and agonize over each purchase decision, so I'll provide the info I'd want to know myself. Reposting this review for both items...I was looking for modern non-hospital-looking grab bars for my bathroom remodel. I ordered two different styles and sizes of chrome Delta grab bars: #41924 square/angular and #41824 round, 12" and 18" for each style (see photos). All 4 were extremely heavy and substantial. Not flimsy or wobbly. They seemed gigantic for being the smaller size grab bars. (I included a Sharpie pen for size comparison.) I prefer the square "escutcheons" to the round...more modern and the angular rod seemed much narrower vs. the beefy round style, but they're listed the same size. I'm returning all 4 because each had a problem. The round had faint unshiny stripe marks in parts of the finish. The angular was really bad because in both bars the chrome finish didn't match (rods vs. ends) and the seam between them was really noticeable. At least on the round one, the seam was close to the edge, so it was less noticeable. The center rod looked almost stainless vs. the beautiful chrome ends. Overall the round bar had a better finish, but still nowhere near as gorgeous as my other Delta hardware ("Ara"). All 4 items were purchased separately from AMZ and had return-worthy finish issues. In case you're researching, my other selections: Moen 8" rainshower head, Purelux flanges, Kohler flip fixed shower head, Danze 30" Versa handshower bar set, Delta Ara 6 setting trim + rough-in, Ara tub faucet and Ara vanity faucets, Kohler medicine cabinets, Quoizel Stream LED lights. It's exhausting! Good luck.4Very good product Heavy and solid, should last a long time. very happy with all the parts I bought from Delta, expensive but worth it, love the solid heavy feel when using the faucets, shower heads and sprayers. 5I know it's better for safety but the thickness overpowers the other fixturesscale too thick. I know it's better for safety but the thickness overpowers the other fixtures. Not using in the intended bathroom but keeping it to mount elsewhere that will fit better. Seller should picture in actual setting so buyers aren't decieved by scale of it to eliminate the surprise when you open it. However It is well built and quality materials.3Beautiful but mount not as secure as competitor s productsI love the look and practicality of this combination assist bar and towel bar. I took off one star because only one screw is used to secure each end of the bar which isn t really enough for a true grab bar. Fortunately, I had this installed in our extra bathroom, and my mother is petite so I think this mount will be secure enough for her occasional use.Moen makes a similar product that uses three screws on each end and includes decorative covers which I would recommend to anyone needing a more secure combo grab bar and towel bar. It s more of a transitional style as opposed to this Delta product s contemporary style. I do prefer the Delta s look, and I like that Delta has a matching assist bar/toilet paper holder which I had installed in both bathrooms. Both of these items also match the Delta Trinsic collection.4Perfect We have had this up about 17 months. It s great and gives an assist part without a geriatric look. 5This is not safeI wrote a review in May. I am an occupational therapist and also a certified Living in Place Professional. I ordered two of these for a bathroom renovation and during the construction time I had back surgery, so could get upstairs when these were installed. It turns out that they are not secure. The installation is the same as a towel rack-a little screw i tightened against the underlying plate. I thought it would be safer than it is. One of the towel racks has come loose on one end and can't seem to be tightened. And the first time it happened there was a regional big wig with Home Depot in the bathroom who had stopped by to see the finished results of an outside contractor who did bathroom renovations. The workmen were still there and they quickly righted the screw. a few days later it came undone again and the towel rack has not been functional. The toilet roll holder with grab bar has the same issue and it came off of the wall a couple of days ago. Ii will now have to install a regular grab bar. It is even funny that I was also particular about insisting that wingets be used.1Sizing Matters This is a high quality ADA handbar item but it is very large and doesn't easily accommodate commodes that are located adjacent to a wall. I purchased this for installation in a new construction project and didn't discover that it wouldn't fit until after the 30 day return policy. Amazon did not make an exception. I now have a very expensive grab bar/toilet paper dispenser that I can't use. So SIZING MATTERS! This is my first Amazon disappointment in customer service. 3Faceplate will NOT stay onThe grab bar itself is solid and seems to work OK -- BUT, and this is a BIG BUT, the decorative faceplate will NOT stay on. There appears to be no way for it to remain in place. It apparently just pops on and just as easily pops right off. exposing the actual screwed plate. This is also true for our 12-inch vertical grab bar as well. I am at a loss to see how to make this stay on. Solid material, lousy design.2assist bar or a toilet paper holder or both Good looking cant tell its a anything but a tp holder but its a hidden assist bar . very strong no fear of slipping .... good find 5Very Sturdy, Looks Great! This is very sturdy and works perfectly as an assist without having to purchase a separate safety rail. It is expensive but so worth it. I bought a second one for the guest bathroom. I have balance issues so this is the perfect helper to guide you. 5Work's Great What a great idea for use to help people get up in the bathroom, who have weak legs. It's solid and functional. We've bought several for an aging in place household. 5Looks nice! We recently remodeled our bath, and I decided to put in this tp holder that doubles as a grab bar. No one would ever think it's a grab bar!!! Looks really nice. We were fortunate that we were doing a remodel, so we were able to have the guys place a 2x4 in the wall to give this support (you can read the instructions on the web). I think that gives it the best support. The remodeling guys installed it. My only disappointment ... It has the headless screws for mounting with a hex tool. I was not able to loosen them so I could slightly remove it from the wall for painting (it's hard to paint around a circle!). Taping it off works okay, though. It's really nice! 5Attractive and easy to gripThis Delta Contemporary grab bar complemented the round design of the towel bars already in the bathroom. The 24-inch grab bar was professionally installed on the long wall of the shower, and it serves as a wash cloth rack as well.It does get completely wet during the shower, but is easily wiped down along with other fixtures (before getting out of the shower). It s worth the extra seconds to prevent water spots. The chrome looks beautiful. The grab bar is much thicker than a towel rod, but it is very comfortable to grip. The end caps are stylish, but the bar has to be functional. The wash cloths cover most of the thick bar anyway. Thanks to the reviewer who suggested using silicone to keep the caps from popping off. It s only been a few days, so I ll be sure to report back if I have that problem despite using silicone.5This bar looks great and is very solidI received the Delta 36 inch grab bar today and had it installed. I'm a big guy and needed a grab bar for when getting out of the tub. This bar looks great and is very solid. The chrome is bright and smooth. Looks like a thicker towel bar which is what I wanted it to look like. I tested it out by tugging, pulling and pushing up on it. It passed with flying colors. Highly recommend this bar.5Very sturdy Have these in all our bathrooms - give extra support for aging relatives. And it is soooo easy to change the paper. 5One defect...We have purchased 4 of these in different sizes to make our bathroom safer. They are very sturdy and look great. There is one problem with the 24" grab bar though. The decorative mount-plate cover on one side will simply NOT stay on. No matter how often you attach it, it pops off within minutes. It must be warped or defective in some way -- how do I replace it?I just noticed Amazon.com is the seller. There is NO WAY to contact ANYONE at Amazon ever -- Amazon's Customer Service is non-existent. I'll try to contact Delta.2This is a good bar, very solidThis is a good bar, very solid. My only problem is that it attaches to two mounting plates that are lagged to the wall. When you lag them to sheetrock it tries to suck the sheetrock in. Then I had to back out the plates a bit and find the perfect depth to get the base to mount snuggly to the sheetrock. Perfect... until you put any weight on it, then it pushes that mounting plate into the sheetrock more and more. So you either need to mount the small plate so it somehow won't get sucked into the sheetrock or it needs to go onto a more solid surface.4Could be better but very solid This is a holder, very solid.
