Customer Reviews

Great gloves works well on phones and in really cold weather,,,I bought these gloves for my husband and was a little worried based on a couple reviews but I went with since most were good. He LOVES these gloves. Now he is not a hard core outside worker but he uses them most days to cut up firewood and work on stuff in the garage. He has had them about a month now and they still look great. I've even washed them twice. Over all I am so happy that I bought theses and so is my husband! As for the glove them selves, they are well built and very fictional. The tips of the gloves work great to use the phone, I never have any problems with them connecting even when it's cold. There is an option to cut the tips of the 3 main fingers (along the red line in picture) and it will fold open so you can use your fingers tips and then they will fold back closed. I am not real sure of the use for this, I guess if you needed to be able to feel things more carefully?? I don't know but it is a really cool feature. The design is great for working or doing things because they flex with your hands. They have held up to a few washes and the icy cold weather of Colorado this year.... They can also be worn when it is warmer and you just need a work glove... I will be buying another pair as back up since they work so well!!Oh and don't worry about packaging they come like they are fragile and could break lol ( I thought I would show their "amazing" over packaging just for fun) ;-)5Definite decrease in quality over the yearsI bought my first pair of these to wear at work in 2013. The quality was so much better back then since I only wound up having to replace years later them because I forgot them at work one day. Replacement pair split open on my right middle finger in less than a year. Bought these guys to replace that pair & they tore at the bottom near the wrist in less than a month. Still usable this time though, so 2 stars I guess.2Recent changes are not improvementsI bought the same model of gloves about 5 years ago and abused them thoroughly. I welded in them, wore them daily, never washed them, handled chemicals and abrasive materials , all sorts of stupidity. They handled it all, and eventually failed after a solid 4 years of service.I used a different model of CLCs (gel pro framers) for a while, as my work changed, but when my current position called for new gloves, I knew exactly where to turn.CLC is using a different material for the palm and it is not good. The old pair I had from 2008 had a 'clarino synthetic leather' palm and it was grippy and wore for a good long time. The new material is soft and cloth like; they call it 'syntrex', almost like a micro terry cloth or something, and is very slippery, especially on wooden handled tools and carrying anything smooth. They still fit very well and have great dexterity and have the awesome dirt/sweat wiping terrycloth patch on the thumb, but grip is so essential when it comes to gloves, I hesitate to give it a full 3 stars, a slippery glove carrying heavy steel truss is a dangerous glove.3best gloves ever? These are amazing. Im killer on gloves. The best i get on a pair is a couple weeks before splits and tears occur. I endup using super glue to repair thembut eventually they give up the ghost. Not these babies. I have run over 10 pounds of deck screw thru these and have beaten the daylights out of these building a12' by 36' covered deck. These still look like new and are only getting more comfortable. At first these seemed tight but after a couple hours use they seem to have broken in. The padding is great and running powertools is so much more comfortable. My only complaint is that they are a bit warm inthe summer sun. I cant wait to try these out with the chainsawUpdate. Well im still on my original pair. They have been to heck and back. I build my entire 12 by 36 foot cover porch with these. Thats everything from removing the bushes and tearing down the old steps to digging the post holes screwing together the deck and putting on a steel roof. Over 3 months of abuse in the evenings and weekends. The gloves would get soaked in the rain and be bakedd in the 100 plus degree steel roof. Well over 100 lbs of pt wood screws and sawing until my arms wanted to fall off. These gloves never missed a beat. The index finger on the left hand has just started to wear thru the first layer of material, other than that they are like new. I ordered a new pair cause they were on sale and the new ones are built as good as my original pair. I love these gloves5Good balance of protection and dexterityI use these around my house for a variety of tasks including home renovation projects, gardening, and car repair. I occasionally have to take them off to handle small parts, but I can keep them on for most tasks. They do a good job of protecting my hands from minor impacts, abrasions, and light heat. I have gone through several pairs of these and they typically last me about a year depending on how harsh of work I am doing. My last pair made it through a massive roof tear off project without wearing out (~2,500 square feet of asphalt roof removed, deck cut up and removed, and debris handled).I would compare and contrast these with other brands, but there are few that actually offer their gloves in a small size. I don't know if this is some kind of vanity thing, or if they do not sell enough smalls to justify making them. In any case, I am glad they make these in a small size and they fit my hands well.I would like to try this manufacturer's top of the line "Contractor" gloves, but they do not sell them in a small size for some reason.5Found them excellent as a work glove when I did electrical work ... Bought a few pairs second time around. Found them excellent as a work glove when I did electrical work for new houses. Twisted solid 12awg copper is a very tough task for any gloves, but these had double layered fingertip material which really took the sting out of it without sacrificing dexterity. I'm a bit of a glove whore and found these to be a great all around glove. Good grip for driving while in winter without ugly silicone prints like on other gloves. Neoprene backing provides good protection against the elements. I use these also for mountainbiking which they are great for when biting the dust. A little warm during summer riding due to the slightly thicker materials. 5Great quality!I use the CLC subcontractor gloves for body building. After burning through weight lifting gloves at an alarming rate, I decide to try a pair of the subcontractors. I had used them in the field as a tradesman, and always appreciated the quality and comfort. I now enjoy the same quality and comfort in the gym, and the last 4 times longer than weight lifting gloves I ve previously used.Great product DON T CHANGE A THING!5Great gloves but they wear out fast. For light use, NOT for contractors. 2.5 Stars. I love these gloves but they wear out fast. I mean fast. I dont even wear them that often; maybe every other weekend for camping, hiking, or unloading my truck. They fit great, feel great, and have great dexterity. The issue is the fingers started to peel off the outer layer of pleather and leave you with a very thin layer of material that doesnt offer much protection. Over the last 2 years Ive gone through 2 pairs. If you're ok with using these ligthly and buying a new pair every year, get them. They really do fit and feel great brand new. If you're a contractor looking for tough gloves, these are not it. 3I prefer the 160M XtraCoverage model much betterThe grip as well as durability is far better on this product made by the same manufacturer:Custom Leathercraft 160M Contractor XtraCoverage Flex Grip Work GlovesWith the 160's I tore down a bathroom with very sharp metal lath, sharp tile, etc etc, and I went through 1 pair of them and finished off with a second pair that I still have. These 130's would be absolutely torn to shreds. The material the palms and fingers have sewn on the surface give much less grippyness and much less durability than the 160 model. I'm not sure what the material is, but it doesn't seem very durable (not sure what it is but it seems like not much more than thick cloth)All of that aside, I also find it important to have good 'feel' of what I'm doing. With these, I might as well be wearing big wool gloves. I need to have a good feel for what my hands are touching, and I just don't get that with these.-----------------------------UPDATE - I used these for swinging my splitting maul to split up large wood rounds into firewood, as well as stacking up a few cords of split wood. They are certainly starting to show wear even after not a whole lot of use. The above review stands, and I'd say don't buy these.2These are my favorite industrial glovesI bought my first pair of the CLC Subcontractor gloves at a Home Depot or Lowe's about four years ago. What I liked about these gloves was that the thumb and forefinger are stitched just below the first knuckle so that you can cut the fingertip off for a little more dexterity when wiring electrical panels and/or terminating control wiring into terminals. Yet they were still rugged enough to handle steel and protect your hands. The first pair i owned lasted through years of abuse but when it was finally time to replace them, I couldn't find them at any of the big box stores. When I saw them on Amazon, I immediately bought a pair. This time they only lasted a month before the stitching came loose and the glove fell apart. I went back to my original four year old pair of Subcontractors which while raggedy and beat up are still better than the new pair. I'm half tempted to try again with another pair but I'm afraid they don't make them like they used to.Update: 2/27/18- on my third or fourth pair. Considering the fact that I abuse these gloves more than the average user, I upgraded to 4 stars. I get about 6 months of use before I have to replace due to wear and tear.4Recent & serious cut in qualityThese gloves were great (4-5 stars) until fairly recently when CLC made a severe downgrade in quality while maintaining the original price. They have done this across the board; their handyman type gloves have also suffered a serious downgrade. I work as a video utility which involves a lot of lifting climbing etc. These gloves have begun to literally disintegrate after about 30 hours of wear. If your purchasing these for construction theyll last you a day. Please note that the gloves pictured are the old model which were really solid. Im very disappointed and will have to look fore a new brand as CLC products have become seriously inferior.1which means I wear them for everything except moving concrete blocks and other super abrasive projects (I wear five dollar leathI'm very tough on gloves and when Home Depot dumped CLC I tried all the other major brands at the big box stores, including the ones everyone raves about. None of them fit well or lasted long. Maybe it's just me but they had seams in unfortunate places and some literally got shredded after only one day. Yes. Eventually I started ordering CLC over Amazon. CLC is the only brand I could find that's tough enough to be called a work glove and also perfectly fits me. The CLC Contractor Gloves are medium-duty, lightweight gloves that I wear for everything that requires protection and some dexterity, which means I wear them for everything except moving concrete blocks and other super abrasive projects (I wear five dollar leather work gloves for that stuff). They're double-stitched at crucial points and the material is double-layered on the fingertips, but not so thick you can't feel anything. I find I can keep using them once the first layer fails, I just trim away the frayed first layer and then I'm more careful what I grab. Once the second layer fails I dump them, but believe me, these gloves last a LONG time. The internal padding is well-placed so there's lots of flexibility and dexterity. The non-contact areas are breathable mesh so my hands don't get hot even in very hot weather. I haven't had problems with melting or poor materials as other guys have posted here... I don't get it, but whatever. Your mileage may vary with regard to fit, but aside from that these are the best you'll find.5
