Customer Reviews

One of my all-time go-to tools.I bought these for home, because I've had a pair the same size in my work toolbox for 20 years. They are small, easy to handle, and i'm willing to bet that 85% of the time I need pliers, these do the job. (When I do need bigger ones, I have a pair of Channellocks in a bigger size.) When I'm in the middle of a project, I can have these in my shirt pocket to keep them handy. When I have to grab just a few tools before going up the ladder, These are one of the essentials. 5My favorite pliers... Bought to replace a lost pair.A wonderful pliers for pocket carry. Just the right size for my typical uses... Narrow enough to fit into places where other pliers cannot go. Light enough to keep "on the person".. THIS CURRENT PRODUCTION VERSION no longer has the familiar threaded nut and bolt hinge pin that the older version has... Now it is a HIGH GRADE rivet type one piece hinge pin... that cannot come loose or be threaded tighter to snug it up. I generally keep these in the pocket or in a tool pouch in or on my vehicles... just in case I need them... I also prefer the Channel Lock adjustable wrench with blue rubber grip on the handle. Like the pliers, Channel Lock Code Blue wrench is Tough enough for the job... Wider mouth to fit bigger bolt or nut than typical for length...and the jaws are narrow enough to fit into places where other wrenches will not go. I have never broken Channel lock pliers or wrenches. 5Shatter alertChannel locks are the only t&g pliers I buy. However after being in my van all night on a -5 degree night, my first stop in the a.m. required me to loosen a 1/2" water fitting. The fitting was not corroded and had been replaced the previous year. To my awe, the pliers shattered in my hands. I guess I should have let them warm up a bit, and I'm sure a larger pair of pliers would not have shattered. But time is money. So I don't know if this was just from a bad batch of metal or just extreme temperatures or both. The real problem was when sending them back for replacement. The customer is responsible for shipping fees. Which would have been $10 each way from milwaukee via ups ground. More than the pliers were worth. If channellock deems the tool to meet the warranty requirements, I feel they should at least cover the shipping back to the customer. Kind of dissapointing. 3Happy accident... good things, small packagesI was robbed!! Someone stole my tool box.... Jerk. I have slowly been replacing the lost tools as I need them. Amongst the lost , was a trusty, heavy, huge channel lock wrench that my dad gave me... the thing must have been 50 plus years old. and could have doubled as a weapon.Because I didn't read, I didn't realize how small this new wrench was until I received it.... it is probably a 1/4 the size of what i was expecting. .. But what a happy accident.! I use it all the time. it weighs nothing., but is also tough and solidly made . It is easy to adjust. I actually think the small size is more useful for my lifestyle. (single woman in a condo) However, I have not had a situation that requires a lot of torque. So at some point, I might need to get a bigger weapons grade wrench... but that day has not come yet! This little guy holds it's own and I am glad I ordered the wrong thing. 5Not overly impressedI don't use tools much so take my opinion with a grain of salt. These might be best suited for light work, the build simply isn't robust enough for serious torquing in my opinion. Also, they are a tad difficult to adjust but I found a little oil improved that sufficiently. I'm sure I'll get some use out of 'em but I don't consider it a proud addition to my tool box, it's more of a junk drawer back up. For the price I supposed they're worth it, but next time I'm going for top quality. 3Staple in any tool bagThese babylocks are invaluable in any tool bag, not just plumbing like my trade. They can be used for any number of tasks and are a no brainer for anyone. The only problem is that if you re like me you will need two or three pair just in case you leave them on a job and it s most likely you will need them on the next job too! Keep organized and you won t leave a valuable tool like this behind! 5great toolGreat tool. Works as expected, has a firm grip - but just as important, the blue handle covering is not tool large or insulated for gripping or fitting in tool belt slots. Very firm motion, no side-to-side action. Channellock always has good hand tools, wish that Kobalt and Craftsman could say the same thing the last year or so. 5Channellock's machining and finish are nothing less than top notchChannellock's machining and finish are nothing less than top notch, and thus I am steadily replacing my dogs breakfast of pliers for their line of pliers. Like many DIY's I have collected a mixture of tools over the years, some good and some just cheap. After trying out a Channellock waterpump plier I was so impressed that my next purchase was one of their crescent wrenches, and I was hooked! For a little bit more money, Channellock pliers are very well designed and executed. Without spending stupid money, these are as good as they get. 5Relatively poor quality - not what I expected for the ChannelLock brandRelatively poor quality. Difficult to adjust jaw. The steel has various dents in it (hopefully this is only an esthetic issue). Not like the "good old" ChannelLock pliers used to be. 3A very handy toolI've wanted a small set of these Channelocks for years, but kept telling myself I could get by with my large pair or my small ignition set of another brand. Finally bought this set and couldn't be happier. Of course the quality is great but the simple handiness of this size pleases me to no end. You can get incredible leverage on small pipes, wires or odd shaped items. I used them today to pull a couple of 18 gauge brads that went astray with the air nailer (out the side). The head of the pliers works a lot like the claws of a hammer for pulling. This was a very worthwhile addition to my shop. 5
