High-Quality ... But Give It a Few Days to Air OutI waited a while to post this review as when I first took the plastic wrap off the roll, the Catahoula twine was both stinky and sticky. That, however, dissipated in a few days. While you MIGHT get SOME minor tar marks on your hands if you are working it really hard, I've found that once the roll aired out, it was a pleasure to use with no stickyness at all and very little odor. It's tough, tough, stuff. Holds a knot to the point of being ridiculous, and is inexpensive for the quality. I like the flexibilty of tarred TWIST for outdoor activities, as you can separate the strands, if needed. If you don't have that need, you might consider a braided tarred twine. In practice, I don't find that the twist unravels without some persuasion anyway, though. Some bushcraft and survival writers recommend tarred twine for fire starting. That's fine if you're NOT using tarred NYLON! Nylon, of course, is a plastic and burns like one - dirty, sputtering, and fume-laden. There are tarred twines on the market made of other materials. Most will not have nylon's strength.Catahoula is an excellent, mainline brand used in the netting industry, both land and sea. Great stuff. 5Bank line in my pack.Bank line. It worked great to bind my shoot gun barrel to the stock, I know it is a redneck fix but it got me back home with a story. Then I was able to use it on my fire drill to make my first fire using ceder in the bow-drill, Again it worked great. I will be buying more when I use this to make a primitive shelter. Water proof, great hold, easy to work with. If I had a survival store this would be a top seller. 5Trickery exists.Felt like I got duped. The pic of the roll of twine looked just like what I ve been buying from a different. You couldn t read the smaller print. I actually bought 3 small rolls that were half the footage for more money. Won t happen again. 2Paracord's big brotherThis stuff is great, its nice and sticky so it grips will, however its not sticky on your hands.Once you tie a knot with this stuff there is virtually no undoing it (which can be good depending on application!).I use this stuff for friction fires using a bow drill. On roll will last you forever! Great for bushcraft and campcraft!I still keep some 550 paracord for knots that I want to be able to undo and other applications. I think everyone should have a mix of this stuff and 550 paracord in the gear bag. 5Great stuffAside from the stink this is 5 star stuff I use it for survival training (self taught rookie here) it holds a knot better then 550 cord, it makes friction fires with a bow (and obviously dry wood) a cinch, I havn't tested the break weight on this but I got the #72 which is rated to 625 so I doubt I'll break it doing my normal routine of setting up camp and what not. Great product I would say it's a must have for outdoor survivalist level rookie and up 5This twine is great, in many uses better than paracordThis twine is great stuff. I've used this number seventy two twine for over twenty years for lanyards to attach tools to my diving harnessIt is about one eighth inch in diameter, nearly indestructible and best of all you can splice it. I usually put an eye splice on to the tool and another on to a snap clip to attach to my harness. After the splice is done I trim back the ends to about an eighth of an inch and melt them smooth into the twine. It makes a good looking lanyard, very secure and can be adapted to any use you can think up. 5Seriously toughI've only tried this twine on a small project so far but I'm very impressed with its strength and apparent toughness. This will be my go-to line for my various kits and bags that contain utility items, and fills the needs where paracord seems like it's not quite right for the job. Took me a little while longer than I expected to find the end to pull to get the spool started, and had to use some pliers to get it loose. Resists my sharp scissors more than paracord does, and doesn't stretch even the tiniest bit when I'm training it or typing knots. Be sure to check out the braided version too, this is the twisted, and they each have their uses. 5Good stuffNicely tarred seiner/bank line. I really like the #18 for its size and strength. Always keep some in my pack. Have also wrapped several Calcutta gaffs with this stuff. I wrap the hook very tight two layers of line and finish off with a couple coats of fiberglass resin. Super strong. 5Awesome Twine! This stuff is great; 3-ply, super strong, and the plastic tube it's wrapped around can be plugged by small lids and used as a container. The lids I used are from those small containers that dremel cut-off wheels come in, they fit perfectly into the plastic tube the twine is wrapped around. Great for storing spare fishing or survival supplies in. 5Excellent quality, extremely versatile twine, so many uses, it's a no brainer..High quality tarred nylon twine, highly versatile twisted nylon twine.. Great general purpose twine.. Can carry a lot of footage in backpack without taking up much space... 5
