    MacBook Pro w/ 4K Monitor FlickersI was so excited to use this. I bought a brand-new 4K monitor for my MacBook Pro. Hook up is dead simple. The problems started less than an hour after it was plugged in. The monitor would start going black for a split second and then popping back on. After a bit longer, this would happen more regularly until finally the monitor was useless. I called the monitor manufacturer and got a replacement. The same problem happened with the new monitor. Finally, I bought an Amazon Basics USB-C to Display Port adapter. It's working flawlessly. Turns out that this cable was the problem all along. Now my return window has closed and I'm stuck with a $20 broken cable.1Works with 2018 MacBook Pro 15" & NEC PA271W; sleep/wake issuesIn short: This cable works fine with 2018 MacBook Pro 15" & NEC PA271W. There are issues waking from sleep; but, from what I've been able to determine by reading various support forums, this is more of an issue with OS X/MacOS and third party monitors than a fault of the cable.In detail: I purchased this cable after going down the wrong path -- trying to find a USB-C to DVI adapter. I was convinced I needed a DVI adapter because the NEC PA271W doesn't support HDMI. All of the USB-C to DVI adapters & cables I found would only support a resolution of 1920x1200@60Hz.I finally reviewed the specs for my monitor and turned it so I could see the available connections. Once I realized it supported DisplayPort, I went in search of a USB-C to DisplayPort cable and settled on the Cable Matters USB C to DisplayPort Cable. Plugging it in to the monitor is a little tricky due to limited space around the connection port; but, the cable works fine. Note that I have experienced issues with the monitor not waking from sleep; but, this problem seems to be common in the 2016-2018 MacBook Pros with external monitors regardless of the connection.4This cable runs 4k60hz monitor from usb-c late-2016 15' Macbook Pro (touch bar version)For anyone curious - as I was - this cable WILL run a 4k60hz display from the usb-C (Thunderbolt 3) port of a late 2016 Macbook Pro (the one w/ Touch Bar). All the "official" solutions from apple were coming up short for me. I tried the Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter and the Apple Thunderbolt 3 (usb-C) to Thunderbolt 2 adapter. Neither solution worked, despite assurances from their tech support and as per the instructions on Apple's website. This cable is working beautifully, however, and it's a much more elegant solution than either of those goofy, dangling adapters.5Perfect for MacBook Pro (2016)I'm using this cable to drive a Dell UP2716D 27" display from my 15" MacBook Pro (2016) right now, at full 2560x1440 resolution, 60 fps. Zero problems. While everyone who doesn't own a USB-C equipped machine is whining about dongles and adapters, this here is how things will eventually be. One simple cable carries your chosen protocol (DP, TB, USB, etc.), and you're done.The USB-C end has a logo on one side, but of course, that can be flipped over. Note that the same end also comes with some clear, protective plastic wrapped around it. I thought it looked a little splotchy at first, and it wasn't easy to find the seam, but it is indeed removable.5Getting 4k resolution at 60 Hz out of my Macbook Pro 15" 2016 TouchbarI have this connected to a Macbook 15" 2016 Touch Bar to my 4k 32" Acer B326HK monitor and it is outputting 4k at 60 Hz. You NEED to buy a third party cable to get 4k at 60 Hz from a monitor. The cable is flexible and thin, great for those who need to work on cable management for their setups. Only time will tell how durable this cable is.5I'm using mine to connect a Dell U2713HM to a ...I'm using mine to connect a Dell U2713HM to a 2016 MacBook Pro. It works just as expected, although getting it to that point took a lot longer than I expected. After some research, I discovered that this particular monitor (and probably some other Dell monitors) can be finicky if you don't follow the steps in the right order when you set it up for the first time. My advice if you have one of these monitors: Completely power-down your monitor first. Unplug it. Hold the power button down for 5-10 seconds. Then plug it back in and power it on. Then start up your Mac. Only after it's booted up, should you plug in the display cable. There's a handshaking process that occurs, that went badly for me the first time I plugged the cable in (due to not fully resetting the monitor first) that caused the Mac to not recognize the monitor correctly, and no amount of reboots would fix it.. The fix for me was to hold down shift while booting up the Mac, booting it into a mode where it could re-recognize the monitor.Anyway, long story short, reset your monitor first, and connect the cable after your Mac is booted up. If it doesn't recognize it correctly, try booting into safe mode by holding down shift on boot up, and then retrying.5Have a dell S2716Dgr and its running 1440p with 144hz and gsync perfect. I bought a 3 ft cable and a ...Cable does what it says. I have a asus zephyrus gx501VI with max Q. I wasnt sure if I could get 1440p with 144hz on a ext monitor with this cable or laptop. No one really gave a confirmed answer. Im writing this review to confirm it works!!! Have a dell S2716Dgr and its running 1440p with 144hz and gsync perfect. I bought a 3 ft cable and a 6 ft cable both work.Windows 10Max Q 1080 gpuMake sure you have a gpu that can support the 1440p 144hz. I wasnt sure if max q could support this. But thankfully it did!!!5WARNING: Totally killed my MacBook.I have been using USB-C to display port cables to connect my MacBook (Model A1707) to external displays. I needed an additional one to use at home as I left my cables at the office. When I connected this cable, I heard a buzzing noise, the laptop made a noise indicating it had stopped charging and then started again. Then, the computer shut off. Nothing I have tried or anything my company's IT Department has tried has been able to revive it.EDIT: Apple Verified that this cable caused a short in the USB port which led to the failure of the main logic board of the computer.1Works better than Apple's own USB-C adapter!Got a new 4K display to pair with my 2018 Mac Mini. FIrst I tried a high speed HDMI cable with Apple's USB-C to HDMI adapter. It worked but all motion was really choppy and not pleasant to look at.
