What to Expect, how to get the most of them and What you Need for this. Read before you buy.Over all these subs are not only a great beginners sub, but even for some more expensive set ups. Most incidents you will run into are revolving matching your Amps RMS handling to your Subs RMS. If your Amp is pushing 500 watts RMS and you are running a 1400W sub woofer, it will blow, as well as your cables to the amp, get 0/1 gauge wire. Another recommendation would be letting the sub woofers break in. Don't blast them as loud as you can right out of the box. When they say give them 3 to 4 hours, its for a reason. If the suspension isn't broken in it increases the chances of blowing your sub woofer. I recommend a ported setup as the sealed setups can decrease the quality in certain situations. If you want to get the most for your money. Watch your RMS Handling, you need the highest ratings in the wire, then your amp, and then your sub woofer. Just because you have a 1400 watt sub woofer, doesn't mean its getting that unless you have the power available. Keep an eye on how much you use these. Don't blast right out of the box, KEEP the volume down, DON'T turn up the bass boost, it isn't useful. Let them break in, AFTER 3 to 4 hours of use, you can turn it back up. This will increase the max bass your subs can produce, so it is worth the time investment. 5Fantastic speaker - I brought a couple of old bookshelf speaker cabinets out of mothballs to put in my garage/gym. The speakers and tweeter had seen better days, so I thought I'd replace them as cheaply as possible. These Boss speakers aren't the least expensive subwoofer in this range - but considering a premium one can cost $300, they are an incredible bang for the buck. They're built like a tank. After I fired them up, I was astounded how much punch and presence they put out. After a year of putting them through the wringer (I listen to more loud music through these than my expensive Tannoys in the living room by far,) they're still going strong and continue to amaze me at how much you can demand and how much they deliver. This isn't a great product for a "cheap" speaker - it's just flat out great. Can't recommend it highly enough. 5but turns out that they are great. Just as good as many top brands I was a bit skeptical because of the cheap cost, but turns out that they are great. Just as good as many top brands. I was not going for a record system by any means, but just decent clear sound and bass. I got that for sure. I have purchased many BOSS brand items now and not had issues with any of them. 5Lasted a little over a year Thought I had already written a review for this shortly after purchase but I guess not. I purchased it because I needed a shallow subwoofer to fit behind the bench seat of my regular cab Tacoma (Scosche SET10CC box). Mounted perfectly in the box. Tuned it using c'fields instructions and it sounded great for almost a year. I started noticing a little more buzz from behind the bench recently but just listened at a lower volume and stopped driving the truck for the last month.Anyway, finally got around to swapping everything over to my 4runner (literally everything - my Pioneer headunit, RCA cables, signal wire, power and ground, and box - restored identical settings to headunit) and noticed it sounded awful. Was careful to not touch any amp knobs whatsoever. Thinking this was due to difference of interior volume, I decided to follow the tuning procedure once again. At just about any volume the sub produces a buzzing noise. Doesn't matter what style of bass it's trying to replicate. No tears in the surround, no physical damage whatsoever. Beats me, it was never driven hard because I needed very little in a regular cab truck. Never underpowered the sub, nor blasted. Just gave up on life. I was content with it until this point - so if you want to take your chances you may end up with a decent sounding sub that lasts a little longer than mine. 2Sleeper subs... I paired 2 of these with a Boss IMP2000 monoblock amp enclosed in a shallow mount wedge enclosure. When I first got it installed and tested out, they didn't sound all that impressive considering all the great review on here. Even with everything turned all the way up they seemed very underpowered. Lets just say I was not impressed. I tried messing around with the EQ settings on my headunit but I didn't gain much out of it. A few days later I decided to drill a 1" hole in my enclosures. I'm not exactly sure if it was the holes I drilled or the sub just needed to get broken in but holy s*** these things kicked pretty hard! I had to kill the car because the sudden bass scared the crap outta me. My amp had a remote subwoofer level controller so I turned that all the way down and tried again. It still kicked pretty damn hard. Turned down the gain, LPF, subsonic, etc., on my amp to about a quarter turn each since I had them all maxed out. So to sum it up, these things kick, and they kick hard. Wait a couple days to break them in and if mounting in a shallow enclosure, port it if it isn't loud enough for your taste. 5Sounded Perfect for the price! I was upgrading the car audio system on a MR2 that I purchased. I wanted to get a cheap, low profile sub for a thin box that would fit neatly behind the seat. This worked perfectly. It sounds great and can hit hard. I would leave 3.5 stars if I could for the one issue I had with the assembling/packaging. When I opened the box, the protective plastic bag was actually under the plastic outer ring were the screws were, and it was stuck there on the glue holding the rubber down. The outer ring screw holes did not match up with the metal inner ring screw holes. After removing the plastic bag, the rubber started to come off the metal, and according to the manual, that would void the warranty. I removed the outer plastic ring almost tearing the rubber and added a little glue to the tiny part of the rubber that was starting to peel off. I am sure what I did would void the warranty and I should have returned it. But it wasn't worth returning for the cheap price. Also, the rubber may have re-glued itself after screwing down the plastic ring to the sub box. So, it may have been fine, I just didn't wanna risk it. Others probably would have this issue, I think I just got a messed up one.Unlike some, I am not an audio pro that has to have products that cost 4 times the price. Overall a great product, but considering the price it was a steal. Highly recommend for anyone who doesn't wanna get ripped off by some of the better known brands. 4These subs are great to those like me who don't need car shaking ... These subs are great to those like me who don't need car shaking loud. They give a nice kick, only bought this so my door speakers don't put out any bass.Update - these Subs stop working not even after a year of light use, these are garbage 1BOSS D10F Phantom My requirements for the bass in my car has changed over time. When I was younger I wanted the big thumping stereo to pound around town. These days I just want a little bit of bass to fill in the void left by tinny little car speakers. These Flat subs do that job for me perfectly. I drive a Crew Cab F-250 and didn't have a lot of space and didn't want to spend a lot of money. When I got the shipment 1 of the speakers had a blown voice coil. I returned it and got a new one from Amazon. Now I have 2 installed and they are working fine. I would definitely recommend these to anyone that has gotten a little older and just wants a little extra bump. These will not make your hair stand up, but they will make a the drums and bass guitar of your favorite band sound a little more realistic. 4It's worth what you pay for it I don't like a whole lot of bass, so i didn't need much. My girlfriend bought me the Dual all in one subwoofer from walmart and the speaker went out in a matter of months. So i was looking for a sub that would fit in the current box and i can hook up to the amp. This speaker fit perfect in the shallow mount box. My only complaint is that it raddles a little with constant bass. (Idk if its cause it don't have the amp set just right or if the speaker is loose per say. Let me know if you have any idea about that) 3Blown sound out of box Ordered 2 10" sc boss sub. One sounded ok, the other crackled every bass note. I could touch the side and it will go away. Hooked each one separately to bridged amp and same condition. Removed crappy one and replaced with 20 year old cvr kicker sub. Kicker 350w overwhelms the the one good boss sub 1200w. Weak bass and gamble if good. Going to try Rockville next. 1
