Customer Reviews

Trash with a bad warranty The first time I tried to use this the eyepiece came off when focusing and wouldn't go back on. Unfortunately, I didn't get it returned within the 30 day return window. Barska's "limited lifetime warranty" should cover it, but they require that you pay them $20 to even look at it. That fee, plus shipping back to Barska, would turn this $45 mediocre monocular into an $80 mediocre monocular. I think I'm going to just have to eat the cost on this piece of trash. I will not purchase another Barska product. 1Very good quality for the money. I was a little skeptical after reading a lot of reviews about this. But for the money, it is very well made and very worth while. It's a little bigger than I'd hoped for but it's only the size listed in the description. The field of vision is perfectly matched to the above average power. In other words, it's easy to find the object in the lens that you want to view and the field is wide enough that the object doesn't jump around in the view, like cheaper ones do. This is very high quality.....but don't drop it. The case if protective and should be used when not viewing something. Easy to carry and good for packing. Quality optics. Quick to focus, with or without glasses.....but I find it's much quicker (and view is larger) if I take my glasses off. Would purchase again. 5Quality product at an affordable price. The monocular itself is very high quality. Its waterproof, it has a nice solid feel to it, it has a wrist strap, it's textured and has placements for your fingers for added grip. It comes with a black cloth case, the monocular fits snug inside and the case it has a loop so you can pull your belt through it and keep it by your side. The eye piece works as intended, but you have to place it carefully over your eye so you don't get your eyelashes to interfere with your view. You can adjust the eyepiece it for better clarity based on the distance of the object you are looking at. You do this by simply twisting it clockwise or counterclockwise. It takes a bit to get it just right and property adjusted, but it does the job. It also comes with a cover for the eyepiece and for the lens. I could see how these could be easily lost, you can slide them into the case, but there isn't a whole lot of room for storage. Overall the view is clear and for the price I think you get a very high quality monocular. I intend to use mine for camping and kayaking. 5Although it feels like a solid build and the focus dial is pretty ... Some of the other reviews nailed it. I bought three comparable item to test them out. This scored the lowest of three because its zoom capability does not match its ability to focus. Although it feels like a solid build and the focus dial is pretty much perfect regarding its balance of tension and ease, its worthless if you never see quite as clear as you could with other products. Secondly, the image does not pop or have the "HD" quality. Lastly, the eye cup is made of relatively cheap rubber. Mine came folded in on one side and it doesn't look like it will take normal shape anytime soon.Pros: Solid build. Focus/Zoom dial has a perfect balance of tension to ease making it easier to dial with one handCons: Zoom/Focus are do not have the nats butt ratio that you want. Image clarity is mediocre. Eye cup is cheap rubber. 2Poor quality product, not worthy of the Barska name. I have a Barska 6x30 Blueline Monocular purchased in 2009. Really great viewing and clear focus. I thought the 10x25 Blackhawk would give me better distance and with the same quality of my existing Barskas.Nope Didn't happen.Either these things leave the factory pre-fogged, or the lenses are extremely poor quality. Poor focusing and unable to bring anything into clear view at any distance. Thanks Amazon for the great return policy, because they are going back today. 1Bad Luck Buy I took the the positive reviews to heart and ordered one. Well I guess I got the bad one. The optics are way off resulting in a distorted view that could not be focused. Then it got worse. Their return policy is unacceptable. You have to pay the return shipping and Inspection fee, Inspection fee? In essence you're paying for an inspection that should have been done before they sent that piece of junk out in the first place. I think I'll pass on any Barska products from now on. Trashed it. Live and learn. 1Having never owned a good pair of binoculars Having never owned a good pair of binoculars, after this purchase I can say I don't own a good monocular either. Aesthetics and feel are fine; glass is poor. While part of an image is in focus part of the image is distinctly blurred. Given the price point I give 2 stars, though, it's probably generous. Should return it. Certainly with many quality competitors I will refrain from purchasing another Barska product. 2Not the greatest The first try with this monocular the eye piece rotated freely and the internal focus was mechanism was loose. Returned it, second item the eyepiece focus was loose from the focus mechanism. Not exactly what I called a solid build, returned the second unit. Going with a different brand, I also noticed the intense rubber smell of this product, keep that in mind if you plan on using this for hunting. 1Decent For The Price I live in a rural area, hunt, hike and shoot at a range. Was looking for something like this that was easy to carry and had decent optics. I was just outside with this and my initial impressions are positive. Has a large field of vision, is easy to focus and fits nicely in my hand. I little larger than I was expecting but that's fine. I was able to focus on a beer can about 25 yards away from me that I was using as a pellet gun target and was able to see the individual holes I had shot in the can. I was able to spot and see in detail a small bird at about 100 yds. The only reason I'm giving this a 4 and not 5 stars is the fact that (as others have stated) it is a little difficult to hold steady, especially sighting something at a distance and this does not have threads to enable one to attach a tripod to it. If it did, it would be just about perfect. Still, I'm glad I purchased it and it will get a lot of use. 4Nice monocular at this price My eyesight is not what it used to be and any help is appreciated which is exactly what this monocular does. I have not used it at the indoor gun range yet, but it does appear to be a bit lacking in light gathering (harder to use in low light situations). However, using outdoors it has been excellent. Pressing the rubber rim to my eye is comfortable and the focus adjustment is smooth. We have been practicing with air rifles and the .177 caliber holes in targets are impossible for me to see at any distance. This monocular quickly acquires the target and clearly shows the resulting hits (even when the shots are in the same hole). Would recommend and buy again if it ever fails. 5
