Works perfectly with RCT transmitterThis was my second replacement for original that came with my gas fireplace. My original lasted about 8 years before it quit working. Functions perfectly with the RCT transmitter. Batteries in this receiver will need to be replaced annually unlike the transmitter which seem to last forever. Care needs to be taken with the tabs that secure the battery door. They're not very flexible and broke easily on my original receiver. When used with a cover plate the thumb switch included will need to be placed over the on/off/auto mode switch. The mode switch also seems to be a delicate part of the product. I had to replace my second unit when the mode switch broke off inside the unit in the process of reattaching the thumb switch. The most technical part of the installation is making sure the DIP switch configuration of the receiver matches that of the transmitter. All-in-all the product does what it's supposed to do and has demonstrated with careful use it will function for many years.4Better that the original!The receiver works so much better than the original unit I am upset at myself that I didn't replace it sooner. We have the vent-less gas logs in our basement and the old receiver would work from maybe 10 feet away at the most and then had to aim the remote directly it. This replacement unit works great from 25 feet away so I never have to worry that the fireplace won't get the signal to turn off no matter where the remote it. Also the old receiver would eat up batteries. This unit takes 4 AA batteries and I would have to change them out twice a winter while this unit is still on the same original batteries that lasted all winter and still going strong. Highly recommend!5This baby really lights my fire!!!This replaced a box where the small battery lid had broken. I took a chance and decided to use the old remote with this and had no problem at all. I had to remove the cement logs to connect the wire harness. It was very simple, two push connectors. The instructions said that there was no reason to be concerned about polarity. The most difficult part was remembering how to put back the cement logs. I followed the instructions about setting the DIP switches so that the box and the remote could communicate. This worked perfectly.5Best customer service ever! The product works fine after a year. No complaints at all. The customer service is spectacular! After this year, the battery cover for the receiver disappeared. Cats or grandkids...who knows?! I called WholesaleNow and told them my problem. They immediately said they'd ship a replacement at no charge. Within a few days, I had 2 covers in hand! Thanks! 5The Fire has been Restored with the Replacement Ambient RecieverIf you have Gas Logs that will no longer work with the remote control, a simple solution may just be to replace the reciever. This Ambient product worked well with my existing hand held remote. After following the simple instructions for setting (matching) the DIP switches in the reciever to the remote, I was up and running. The reason I suspected the reciever originally was because, the LED that lights when a signal is recieved from the remote failed to do so. After looking online for common problems, all advice pointed to the reciever, which confirmed my suspicion. All in all, the results I recieved for this price, made this purchase a great deal.5Should just sell the cover!I bought this, like many of you, to replace the cover, which breaks very easilywhen changing the batteries, due to flimsy tabs. Be careful not to do this oryou ll be buying a new box too. Aside from that, it s easy to install andcomes with an extra cover and batteries. All in all, not bad.4It worksDoes the job, where the old one did not work remotely - had to use the switch. My gripe is that I had to swap out the wiring harness, since they used a different connector on the back. Took me some time to see that. The difference is subtle, but I finally looked closely after a few minutes. Swapping wiring was easy because of spade connectors, except for the fact that the spades were on the back in a tight location. It also would have been nice if instructions said the connections were non-polarized.All in all though, the job only took a few minutes, and its nice to have my remote functioning again.Oh yea, the battery door? Just be careful. It's not that flimsy. My gas logs that I purchased about 5 years ago wouldn't turn on on the first really cold day this year. After come troubleshooting, I realized that it was this receiver. I set it up easily, looked at the switches on the receiver I removed and set this one that same way... bada bing, bada boo... I MADE FIRE AGAIN!!!! Now, I'm warm, toasty and happy! 5I had high hopes as this looked exactly like our older unitI had high hopes as this looked exactly like our older unit. Ours had the battery compartment snap and would not hold the batteries anymore. I could not find a battery compartment replacement and wanted to use our fireplace again so I ordered this unit.While I mainly wanted it for the remote, using the on/off on this unit is acceptable. What I was not happy to find was that I had to hold the remote right next to this unit for it to pick up the signal (in a non-metal outlet box).What is really frustrating is that I have called the "Tech Support" number that came with this unit and have left 2 voicemails without any responses. The number is not directly to Ambient Technologies, which they are sadly not able to help as it was not purchased directly from them. The voicemail of Dave is not very helpful. I am still waiting for a resolution and am going to most likely have to pay to have our local fireplace store to come and fix this issue.2Wrong Part for My NeedsAlthough the order arrived on time and appeared to be the part needed to repair the remote control to the gas fireplace,there were not enough wires to connect it properly. The part is similar but different from what I needed for my repair. It is interesting that when I had a repairman visit to diagnose the problem prior to making my order, he had warmed me to make sure that the part I ordered had the correct number of connecting wires. Sounds like others may have had the same problem I did. Oh well...if at first..........1Perfect OEM replacement for my Kozy Heat remote receiverI went to the local Fireplace store where I had purchased my Kozy Heat gas fireplace. I explained to them that the demote relay box was not working - since the battery compartment door tabs broke off...the battery contacts were no longer line up properly. They said I would need a new relay box, and said it would be about $225.I took to the internet to find this part on my own...and low and behold, Amazon had it...and for a much lower price. Received the box today, installed it and now all is right with the Fireplace!!!5
