Customer Reviews

Surprisingly great sounding centerTo start off, I'm a sound snob/audiophile. I am using this speaker for a center channel in the family room in order to achieve 5.1, but without taking away from the aesthetics of the room - so a large center channel speaker from JBL or mirage was out. After installation and enabling the center channel on the receiver, this speaker instantly brought the sound stage up to the TV height (which is above the fireplace mantle). This is expected since its mounted in the ceiling, however with it being at an angle, even 20 ft back it sounds like its aimed right at you. The vocals are clear and smooth and it really integrates well with the rest of the system. I think the silk dome tweeter along with the decent sized woofers and crossover helps voices to sound natural and allows the speaker to do its job really well.5Fully deserved 5 STAR.Based on the reviews on Amazon, I decided to give these speakers a shot, while shopping for in-ceiling speakers in my new house. While price wise, they were one of the cheapest, the reviews noted little to no issues with the performance. Installation and packaging issues are minor to me, because they are easily fixable. I considered the followings before purchase:Polk audio: $75/SpMicca: $41/Sp (Previously owned and loved them)Monoprice: $53/SpSilver Ticket: $31/SpI also considered angled speakers, which were slightly higher in price for all. But, being in-ceiling speakers, I wasn t too concerned about sound direction (satisfied with pivoting tweeter) and more interested in sound showers. My set up: 4 in-ceiling (Front R & L, Rear R & L) and 1 center speaker (Underneath the TV). Floor sub. Used with my Pioneer VSX 524 (still running strong and was used with previous settings as well).Price: Silver Ticket 82C was the least expensive, yet with high performance reviewed speakers. So I figured, if they don t work too well, I ll buy Micca (Previously owned and performed well for 3 years, till the sale of the house), which will still equal to Polk audio price. But for now, the money I save, I can invest in a floor sub to add to my surround sound system.Installation: All of the speakers came with everything in the package. No issues with shipping (Amazon Prime Rocks). I used a makeshift bowl with foam padding to go on top of the speakers as enclosure, to control the vibration and spill effect upstairs (learned from previous installation). Besides the maneuvering to place them right in between joists due to corner TV location (Entirely my issue due to the shape of the room, and has nothing to do with the speakers), the actual installation of the speakers were a breeze.Product quality: The speaker seemed pretty solid and heavy. The cloth like material behind the grill was a great touch to keep dust away. Tweeters construction seemed solid, but wouldn t play around with it too much.Performance: The speakers sounded clean. Tweeter s weren t too prominent as Micca (previously used). But overall sound quality and level was great, even at high volume. It sure was louder compared to my Micca (same 8 ). Music, Sports and movies sounded good with the different settings.Overall: Very happy with the initial results. Hopefully it will hold up the performance for a while. For now Fully deserved 5 STAR.5For the price they can't be beat!I have purchased these speakers with great skepticism. Being a long time lover of music and home theater with a biased toward Polk and JBL. But I figured that for the price it couldn't hurt to try and that if they weren't upto the job I was already looking at a slightly larger set of polks for my install.Upon first installing them I was not happy, I couldn't seem to get them to be as full as I expected. I figured this was due to the amount of air space in the wall. So I used spray foam to lessen the cavity, I filled in about 6 inches above and below the speaker. This helped to create a smaller "enclosure for them", I also added fiberglass insulation behind them to slow down the air inside the wall cavity. After all this they are outstanding for the price and for 5 channels to be under $150 bucks. They can't be beat. They do need a sub to fill in the low end.5Great sounding speakers. Inexpensive upgrade for 5.1 or 7.1 Dolby ATMOS effects. These speakers were a great upgrade from my previous speakers. I replaced some Pyle 6.5 inch speakers in my home theater with these 8 inch speakers. What a huge improvement in sound. The Pyles could not keep up with the output of my Amp which is driving my front tower speakers. With the volume at a decent level, they sounded terrible. These speakers keep pace with my towers, and sound great. I hung them in a suspended acoustical tile ceiling and backed them with fire retardant Roxul insulation. I set the crossover to -3db and they sounded better to me. I used my Yamaha Amos YPAO feature to balance the surround sound output. I m extremely pleased with the sound out of my system now. I also added a pair of the Silver Ticket 6.5 inch speakers as ATMOS / LEFT RIGHT surround. This really fills the room with great sound for movies and music. I probably should have used the 8 inch speakers for these surrounds, but the still sound fine.5i was looking for an excuse to return it & get a better brand, but this speaker def won me overI tested this speaker out for a couple weeks before i even had it installed . i was looking for an excuse to return it & get a better brand, but this speaker def won me over. good sound, great price and can handle high volume. it ended up on the ceiling and they sound even better5I never installed the Monoprice in the wall due to the poor build qualityI bought a pair of these, along with a pair of Monoprice Caliber and a pair of Micca to compare. The Monoprice were visibly more fragile with low quality parts. The carbon fiber cones were disapointing. I never installed the Monoprice in the wall due to the poor build quality. The Micca and Silver Ticket were comparable in sound quality after installing in the wall. I decided to keep the Silver Ticket pair and returned the other two pairs. To me, even if all 3 costed the same, I would still keep the Silver Ticket. Their build quality and part selection were noticeably better than Monoprice and a little better than the Micca. I'm an electrical/electronic engineer.5superb center speakerI was skeptical at First but don't be fooled by the low price! It's outstanding sound is superb to the big boys. I recommend this to anyone who is looking to start there surround sound system. I included a few pics of my final setup5Great sound but how do you aim tweeter? UpdatedGreat sound, high power. I don't see how to aim the tweeters and there are no instructions how to do so. Need to see how long they last.I installed one 8" center, four 8" rectangular wall speakers, and two 8" round ceiling speakers into a new finished basement. All wall speakers were mounted into loosely framed 2x4 rectangles behind 1/2 inch drywall (only snug on top and bottom, not on sides). Added R13 insulation behind them (insulated every wall normally but turned the speaker box areas around so pink was facing speaker rear). For the ceiling mounts I cut half inch plywood circles using the mount templates and mounted the wood between ceiling joists with insulation behind. Each speaker comes with a paper template which worked perfectly. The sound for all of them is very impressive- clear highs and surprising bass although my system also uses a 12 inch sub. I always recommend using a subwoofer but am surprised how much bass is produced especially by the 8" round ceiling speakers.Updated 2/19. I suppose it was too simple. The tweeter is moveable by simply adjusting with your fingers without unscrewing the case. It only moves a little and I havent noticed a sound difference.3Very good quality, great valueI purchased these speakers to install in my ceiling in order to upgrade my system to Dolby Atmos sound. These are now my height speakers. Apart from running more speaker wire through the ceiling, they were easy to install, and their sound blends right in with the rest of the system. I'm using a combination of B&H and Mirrage speakers, and these hold up along side them well. They are featured less frequently, as they are my height speakers, but when the soundtrack makes use of them, they sound convincing and definitely add to the immersion of the sound system. They arrived on time and packaged well, too!5GOT MORE THAN I PAID FORpleasantly surprised. For the price I paid I figured these would be just ok. well I was wrong it was actually pretty good. I bought one to switch out the yamaha NS-IW280C because I blew one of my yamahas in another room and the one in my kitchen was needed in that room. I didn't want to pay a lot for a speaker I had in my kitchen that I rarely used so I bought one of these. I honestly think it may sound better with more bass than the yamaha. I didn't expect it to have any bass at all so I was pleasantly surprised. It's not shake your room bass but it compliments the mids and high very well. I'm not saying that these are knock your socks off great and can rival the expensive hi-fi speakers. But if you want to build a HT with surround on a budget I promise you won't be disappointed. Just add a sub and off you go.5
