Customer Reviews

Great speakersI have been wanting to get in ceiling speakers for quite some time at my spa. I bought these because they were a reasonable price, but my husband thought they wouldn't be very good since they were pretty cheap. They have been excellent, and it is amazing that I only need one in each room. I can't wait to put them in every room of my spa, they are nice and white, don't look ugly, and the functionality is amazing. I would recommend these to anyone. I also have one in a wet treatment room, and it has been holding up nicely. Please try these if you are looking for a great deal and don't want to spend alot of money on speakers. 5Sounds good but won't lastI bought these speakers for the covered porch in my new home in the midwest. They sounded great day 1, but had 1 problem. I've had them for ~ 2-1/2 years now, and the grilles constantly fall down. I was checking them the other day (to push the grilles back up again, and noticed that the cones have dried out and crumbled. Don't believe the Weather Proof claims, see my photos for proof. I contacted Pyle support and they told me that they only warranty them for 1 year. Not sorry to hear you had a bad experience, or anything like that, just your model only has a 1 year warranty. So good price yes, good sound initially yes, will it last? No. Does the manufacturer care that they don't last? No. If you don't care if you'll have to rip them out of your ceiling and replace them soon then take the leap, otherwise I would avoid them. 1Great ValueI installed this with a bathroom remodel, and it's been great. Great sounding for the price with plenty of clean, solid bass from the 6.5-inch cone. The dual voice coil (DVC) woofer with dual tweeters is perfect for an area where stereo imaging is not critical but you don't want to miss out on any of the music. After feeling the heavy magnet I'm not worried about power handling. Of course they don't match the precise sound of the Polks that I have in another room, but at less than 1/4 the price I am very happy.Mounting was super easy. The included template made it easy to get the cutout right. And the locks that swing out to hold the speaker in place worked great to snug the frame against the ceiling. (Can't quite say the same about the Polk mountings.) I haven't had any problems with the connecting wires after two years so the binding posts made good connections. 5This sounds BEAUTIFULThis speaker does play stereo; it has standard bare speaker connectors that you connect at the top and bottom of the back (it takes 2 sets of speaker wire; 1 for each channel). It connects inside the wall or ceiling by screw-locking binders (they go in flat, and when you screw them, they turn outward and grab onto the drywall or drop ceiling as tight as you screw it in. Just beautiful. Easy as pie installing. As for sound quality, it's definitely better than an average ceiling speaker. I got this for our bathroom, so people could sing in the shower or listen to music while they poop. The quality is perfect for that. It doesn't sound like an elevator speaker or store speaker. The bass is pretty good and the treble is great. It's not a Bose, but it's very good. 5Choose a Different SpeakerAs far as sound goes, these are adequate for the price point. However, their rating for durability is less than zero. After only two years under a covered porch they are disintegrating. See my pics and move on to a different product. You've been warned... 1Three to four year speakers... then replaceI generally don't write reviews, but in this case, I think it might be helpful to others. I bought a pair of these speakers in 2013 and they worked great! Sounded good... everything I wanted. Five years later.... the speakers are in total decay. The plastic AND the cones are so brittle that they literally fall apart in your hands. It was difficult to remove the speakers from the ceiling, because the just crumbled and made a big mess on the floor beneath.I noticed that the faceplate cover was slipping down and often falling off during parties when the music was louder. This was about three years after I bought them. So, I caulked one of them into place... and it worked for awhile. Then, we had a New year's eve party this year. The music was turned up about half way at one point, (cuz it was a good song) and the cover just fell off and onto one of my guests. Embarrassing!I didn't realize how bad it was until I took the speakers down. Take a look at the pictures. The only reason I didn't rank the speakers with one star is because they were good speakers when they were new, and they were cheap. I guess you generally get what you pay for. If you want a speaker that will last for about +/-4years, then this is the speaker for you. If not, then probably not for you. The pictures tells the story. 2Sound great, but won't accept 12G wire, will run deep/loud on 20W RMS.These things are awesome. Install was super easy (as far as the speakers are concerned- holes and wiring aren't Pyle's problem), and they look really, really good in my living room. I bought 6 of these for a 7.1 surround system in my living room, and all 6 arrived in perfect working order. Now for the neat stuff. Each speaker has two sets of spring clips, so you can hook up a stereo connection to each speaker, and get both left/right channels through one speaker, if your install calls for it. Additionally, I'm powering each speaker with one side of the Lepai 20W amps you can get here, and these things pound. With 20W RMS. Which is great. They are truly full range, too. My Skrillex sounds fantastic even with my 18" subwoofer off.The less-than-neat stuff: for all the obnoxious advertising on the boxes and in the description about how these are rated for 400W, you cannot fit anything larger than a 14G wire in the terminals. I had to strip the 12G wire I have down to 14AWG to get the wires cleanly in the terminals, and I'm not super excited about it. Yeah, 12G is hard core for even 400W, but I don't think it's that tall an order.Otherwise, these are great; I'm likely going to buy two more for my dining room, and another one for my bathroom so I too, can listen to them while I poop. 5Difficult to call these, "Weather Proof 2 -Way Speakers"I just bought these speakers for my lanai. It's very difficult to find outdoor speakers that are in-ceiling mounted. So I bought these based on some of the positive sound reviews. Once I had installed them the sound was fair at the lowest volume. But when I started to slowly increase the volume 1 or 2 notches up), both speakers sounded distorted and made crackled noises. These speakers are terrible!!! Isn't there any company that makes really good "Outdoor In-Ceiling Speakers"???Update: I hired a company to evaluate the Pyle speakers. They said they were blown and where probably that way when they were shipped. I had them install 2 much better grade outdoor speakers from a different company. I'll never buy from this company again. 1Good price, good sound..I picked these up for in-ceiling surround sound in my open concept house. I went in-ceiling specifically because the room is larger than the area within it designated for "family room" space and I didn't want horizontal throw to be bouncing off walls from various distances. I chose these speakers specifically because I trust the Pyle brand and the price was ideal.Installation was pretty straight-forward (I had pre-run my speaker cabling during home construction so it was just a matter of measuring to where I had intended to put them, cutting the drywall, connecting the wires and locking them in place with the attached hardware). The only tricky part is that the grilles ship installed into the speaker so you have to pull them off - not a big deal, but I can see Joe Homeowner marring up the grill trying to pull it off. I just used an all (any pointy tool would work) inserted into one of the grill holes near an edge and pried it off.Once installed, any speaker is only as good as the amplifier it's connected to and mine are connected to an Onkyo TX-NR626. My receiver's setup is pretty well automated and adjusted the levels/equalization automatically for me.As I'd hoped, the sound is great and the in-ceiling decision seems to have worked as I anticipated - the sound is immersive from the viewing area at any level (soft or loud). I could have spent way more and seen marginal improvements in quality, but for most people, I think speakers are speakers and it's safe to go with a brand you know/trust and just make sure your selection fits the application. For me, these did and I'm pretty happy.Good luck with your system. 5Great SpeakersI have these wired from a Pyle Home PTAU45 Mini 2x120 Watt Stereo Power Amplifier with USB/CD/AUX Inputs via a Sima SSW 4 Speaker Selector (4 Speaker Pairs) and through a AudioSource AE100VC Impedance Matching Volume Control. And it all works very well.I used these for the porch part of an in house speaker system and they work great. They're very easy to install and the sound on them is great for how much they cost and what I use them for. I purchased a set of the non-weather resistant ones as well for inside my house and they work just as well. I'll have to wait and see how well they hold up outside, but they are on the ceiling of the porch, so I would imagine they shouldn't see much weather at all, just heat and humidity. 5
