Customer Reviews

It works and it's nearly invisibleHaving survived being married for more than 30 years I've learned that it's important to pick your battles. Its all about compromise. I can get away with having computer equipment strung all around the house as long as I keep the wires neat and out of sight. While in most cases I try to use wireless for networking there are some instances such as connecting a NAS where a wired connection is more appropriate. While my wife was away visiting friends for a weekend, I commandeered an end-table in the living room and using my best McGyver impersonation I hollowed out the base and fitted it with an 15TB RAID NAS. From the back of the table came a power cable and this UltraFlat Ethernet cable. The non-obtrusive cable fit neatly between the flooring and baseboards along the edge of the room where I could attach it to the Gigabit Ethernet switch that was housed behind my wife's display of Precious Moments figurines during another stealth mission when she was away visiting her mother. The Ethernet cable has worked well providing Cat6 speeds to the NAS without the bulk of a large cable giving away the location of yet another piece of computer hardware. Thanks to products such as this UltraFlat Ethernet cable I have lived to see another day of married life while getting tremendous throughput to the new NAS-enabled end-table in our living room.4Great portable cables. Not ideal for non-portable applications. These cables are great for their purpose. They coil very well, and when neatly coiled up, will take up a fraction of the space that a normal CAT5/6 cable of the same length would. They work fine with gigabit ethernet, and i'd say they're a must-have item if you currently carry an old-style network cable in your laptop bag. This portability is not without it's costs, though. The flat cable only bends well along one axis, so it's a bit more awkward to use. It also has less "cushioning" than normal CAT5. I don't think it's suitable for stationary installations, largely for these reasons. They're also more expensive (particularly compared to making your own network cables - which is a great way to save money, reduce cable-clutter by making cables no longer than they need to be, and lose your sanity crimping connectors for hours on end).5Excellent cord for travel and ac-hoc useThis cord is lightweight and flexible. Good strain relief and reasonably robust wire. The flat and thin cable doesn't tangle easily, making it easy to pack up and then unwind when needed. I have purchased many of these cables from 3' to 100' lengths and haven't had a problem. I use them in my travel kit (that includes a Belkin Travel Dual Band Wireless N Router (Latest Generation) and DualComm Mini 5-Port 10/100 Ethernet LAN Switch (USB Powered)) and in my laboratory, when I commonly need random ethernet cables to connect various instruments (KEYSIGHT TECHNOLOGIES 34465A DIGITAL MULTIMETER, BENCH, 6-1/2 DIGIT) or programming laptops. I haven't used these for permanent installations, although they should perform adequately.5Great Product. Great Price.I have bought a bunch of these cables in various lengths and will leave the same review on each of them. What I love about them is the cost and the fact that they are cat6 cables. You can't go to Walmart or Staples and buy a flat cat6 cable for this price. Infact Walmart only sells cat5e in the flat cable. They are able to support gigabit speeds and my entire home network (with the exception of one shielded cat7 cable that goes outside) is running these flat cables. You will notice that there is 2 of each cable listed one is more expensive but free shipping. The other you pay the shipping but the product is cheaper. If you get the one that you pay for the shipping you will save about $1 on each cable, while $1 is not a lot it adds up if you are buying more then one cable.5this has proved to be the best for many reasonsI have bought this product twice , so i will try to write a detailed review of my experience if it helps others in making a buying decision . Out of so many ethernet cables i have used from different companies , this has proved to be the best for many reasons , at east for me(1) First of all it is ultra flat and can be easily put under rug, carpet , tables cloth etc without raising the overlying portion( 2 ) it does not tangle easily because when the wiring goes through any twisting force during use , only that part is will take a turn but will remain soft without getting tense or extending the turns to other parts. It therefore does not create a pulling pressure on the end of the cable which is plugged into the PC/Laptop( 3 ) The speed is very good as it is CAT 6 which is newer category with sufficient speed capability for most users . I compared it with my two other/previous CAT6 round type cables from Belkin and eForce and the internet speed was the same if not better. Actually the internet speed fluctuates from test to test , so it is hard to exactly compare , but in general the speed remained in the same range(4 ) The cable is thin but still strong enough to withstand ordinary pulling pressures with daily use . My two year old son frequently pulls it to tease me but so far it has no signs of damage. Sometimes it gets pulled accidentally through my feet as well.( 5 ) There many length and color options available . I have one blue and one black .( 6) If needed for neat packing, the cable can be rolled nicely on itself in the shape of a disc which will be as thick as the width of the cable(7 ) I specially like the ends . They may look long in picture but they are shorter compared to most available Ethernet cables and are also thinner and slightly flexible ( am talking about portions which stays out of the Ethernet ports ) and after plugging in my Laptop , this outer portion of the cable's end does not touch the surface on which i put my Laptop because the cable wiring is flat and light weight and does not create a downward pull on the plugged ends which therefore stays straight in horizontal position . This minimizes the chances of the ends getting pulled out which used to be a problem with previous round wired Ethernet because the bottom side of Ethernet ports on my LENOVO U530 touch Ultra Book are flexible and opens like a lid if there is any outward and downward force applied on the ends of ethenet cable.5Just the right length and easier to run along the floorI previously bought a white cable that was ultra flat and 50 feet. This time I needed something a little shorter than that but longer than 25'. This 35' foot cable was perfect. Just enough to get to the place it needed to go with some slack without too much excess to pile up. The cable runs easier along the baseboard of our floor than normal round cable since it lies flat and doesn't tend to want to lift up or stick out from the baseboard like other round cables do. This cable also bends easier around corners. Another bonus is that since this cable is flat, I could add it to the bundle I already had tacked down with 1/4 or 3/8" cable clips. We have white walls & baseboards; I wanted to get a white flat cable in this length but I didn't search much before picking this cable (in black). There may be a white ultra-flat cable in this length, but I couldn't find one quickly. It mostly runs behind furniture so I don't see it, so it worked out for this particular situation.I used this cable along with a USB Network Adapter Nyko Net Connect for Wii to connect our Wii to our network vice trying to use the wireless - the signal was just too weak. This wired connection solved the problem of dropouts.5Worked greatLike another reviewer, I got this for a Logitech Alert outdoor camera. I, too, trimmed it down to fit. But while one side trims easily, the other side takes more. The side with the camera has a little more room inside, so all you have to remove are the ribs, and since they're not part of the sheathing, it's easy to just snip them and peel them off without doing anything to the insulation of the cable. However, the box that plugs into the outlet has less depth where the cable plugs in, so I had to remove some of the plug's covering itself, much more difficult to do while trying to be careful. It worked fine though, and for the price it couldn't be beat. I'm not a fan of the "snagless" cover over the tab on the plug though, since too often they make it more of a pain to remove the plug, so I cut those off as well.I needed the flat cable because of the camera system, but I prefer flat anyway since it gives you something far less twisted when you unroll everything. Nothing is more annoying than a spiral of cable that keeps kinking itself or getting hung up and won't stretch out easily. No such issues with the flat cables. For the price, can't beat it.5LOVE THESE CABLES!How can anyone be so happy about a cable? I'm thrilled with these flat, short ethernet cables! I wish I could find other types of thin, flexible cables in short lengths. I have a modem and router side-by-side on a bookshelf in my living room, with the outlets behind them. The 1 ft. is perfect. I had gotten the ft version and it was too short for the devices to sit side by side with a little space between them. This one is about 10 inches of cable and two inches for the connectors. The wiring doesn't show at all. There's no loss of data. I have a very cheap RCA Docsis 2.0 cable modem that's supposed to have a maximum speed of 12 mbps with an Apple Time Capsule router. I'm getting wi-fi download speeds of nearly 30 mbps, which is quite sufficient for streaming video.5Highly recommended for those who need to arrange the cable somehowMy old cable is a regular kind cable, and that has caused me some trouble because I need to connect to a router outside my room and it's an awkward angle to arrange it. And since it's so resistant to be bent that the connection from the router can drop randomly. So I got this new kind of cable. It feels heavy and solid, obviously it's well made. After arranging it basically the same way I arranged the old cable, I found it so much easier to work with, and the port is of good quality, I can hear the clicking sound when plugging it into my desktop.I have the feeling that this cable will work well for a long time, and the price is the lowest I can see on Amazon. Highly recommended.5Ok for a wired hook up to a PS3I bought the 35 footer to run from my router to my PS3, i had a cheap cat5 25 foot cable that i used for about a year, I upgraded my modem to router connection with the 2 foot version of this cable. I most say i am very happy with the results, this cable made a noticable differance for me playing MW3 , now i have no screen jitters, i would get a jitter or two about every 3-4 games online, yes i know it may have been a cheater using a lag switch on the other team, but i can now surprise a few players with lower bandwidth connections. These cables seemed to have helped my set up, I have Comcast Xfinity Extreme 50 internet,Arris ultra high speed modem, a Belkin N750 router with 1 gig ports, a wired connection to my PS3. I am very happy with the results. If your using a old cheap cat5 or cat5e cable, there is a chance it may onley be 200-350 Mhz ,or less.Update 4/27/2014, The 35 feet long snag free cable failed this week, the matching 2 feet long one I bought at the same time failed 6 months ago. These cables are ok at best, they may be a improvement over the first cat5 cables, but I have replaced both the 35 and 2 feet SF cables with RiteAV cat5 cables that I had here as spares.3
