  • Serial ATA (SATA) replaces Parallel ATA (PATA, a.k.a. IDE) as the new standard for high speed, reliable data transfer between your computers motherboard and storage drives. SATA provides faster data transfers, less clutter due to a more compact cable, leading to better in-case air circulation and ability to hot swap connections.
  • First generation SATA is generally referred to simply as SATA, but is also known as SATA 150 or SATA 1, has a thoughput of 1.5 gbit/s. It is an internal interface that uses "L" type connectors. They are referred to as "L" connectors because if you look at the female connector head on, it has a sideways "L" shaped slot. The male connector has an "L" shaped tongue.
  • Second generation SATA is known as SATA 3 Gbps but commonly referred to as SATA 2 and sometimes SATA 300. It supports a 3.0 Gbps transfer rate and also uses the "L" type connector. SATA 2 cables are backward compatible with first generation SATA devices. However, maximum throughput will be limited to the least common denominator.
  • To go with the newer SATA interface, SATA drives usually employ a new 15 pin power connector as oppose to the older 4 pin Molex power connectors used on older system. However, some drives will have both types of connections for ease of installation into legacy systems.
  • With Locking Capability
  • 6GB Maximum transfer rate
  • Hot-swap capability
  • Thinner Cable construction compares with ATA

Customer Reviews

Great for the price. These are about the same quality of cable that you'd receive when you buy a new high-end motherboard. The connectors go in smoothly and lock in place properly. The release is easy to find and operate as well. The cables are thick and can somewhat hold their shape, making cable management a bit easier. I didn't even feel the need to zip tie these, as I'm using a large case and they stay where I put them.5Great price, but the fit is mighty tightI purchased an SSD and decided to get a set of cables because the price seemed right. The cables work, but the fit into the SATA fitting on my motherboard was very, very tight -- enough so that I feared I might loosen it from the motherboard. The other cables that I had were secure, but didn't require quite as much pressure to snap in.The value is good, but the construction could be a little better.4GOOD DEAL > Not the greatest, but decent qualityORDERED = 08/02/2016 || SELLER = Mp3Car Store || PAID = $7.94(Beware of Seller changes! That's how you can get burned!)Good deal, they fit just fine. Nothing special & no cover 'caps'.4Worked fineLived up to expectations. Plenty long for my use and easy to route. I didn't take into consideration the bottom drive against the bottom of the case - a straight end would have been better here than the 90 degree ones.5Four Starsit works pretty good and still going good, I will buy again from this seller4My only real complaint is that the plastic ends are pretty brittle and prone to breakingThe cables work well. My only real complaint is that the plastic ends are pretty brittle and prone to breaking. There is a metal tab that locks the cable into the SATA port, but even a gentle tug is capable of snapping the metal tab piece off of the plastic plug, ruining the cable.I understand that something has to give way when you yank on a "locked-in" plug, but these seem much more brittle than any other SATA cable I've used. On the plus side, you are getting several spares and I'd personally rather have a broken cable than a broken MOBO, so maybe it's not such a terrible thing.4JUNKTwo of these literally fell apart, of the remaining three two failed to send any signal at all and when tested with a meter failed simple continuity tests, in essence no connection from one end to the other on several leads. I therefor do not trust the one working cable, and have thrown them all in the rubbish. Complete waste of time and money, poorly manufactured junk!1Great price for a functional itemThis was a great move as a bulk purchase, as single cables were priced similarly. I thought it might be handy to have spare cables on hand, as I recently acquired a new tower with drive space to spare. I used this to attach a hard drive, which fit very nicely. The angles on these cables made them very easy to work with.5Ends are too thickThese get the job done, but be aware that if your motherboard has tiered sata inputs (i.e. 3x3 where some are on top or bottom) the cables are too thick to be next to eachother. The locking mechanism will not attach if two are above/below one another.2Worked great!!I only needed 1 but thought at this price for 5 I can't go wrong. The one I did use worked great and I've had no problems with it. The other 4 are in my parts box waiting on their turn to shine. Highly recommended if you're looking for new or additional SATA cables.5
