Customer Reviews

A decent, basic 18' coax cable. This cable isn't super high-end coax, but it isn't junk either. It's just a fairly decent, basic cable. When you take one of these apart, you'll notice that the dielectric is almost 100% covered by the shielding - which is a good sign. They didn't skimp on copper to save a buck. These don't have quite as effective of a shield as the upper end coax does, but they still shield around 95%, which is enough for most applications. If you are experiencing a lot of engine or external noise, you will want to invest in a more premium cable. If you're a CB enthusiast who needs the best of the best, you probably wouldn't be happy with this cable either. But if you just need a decent 18' coax, this is a pretty good buy for your dollar. The ends stay together well and the coax is fairly flexible and easy to route through and around different things. All in all its a durable, good quality cable, with passable shielding.4You get what you pay forOn my antenna analyzer, it showed 3.1 dB loss over 18' at 7.000 Mhz, right out of the package. After two weeks, the connector outside on the antenna came apart right above the plastic strain relief. You definitely get what you pay for with this item. Save your money for good cable.1Decent cable but it won't stand up to the elementsHad this cable on my truck for six months. It was ran to a mount on the side of my truck toolbox. After original installation there were no problems. S.w.r. was excellent, quality seemed good. Drove through some brush and a stick ripped the cable from the connector. That was totally my fault. But when I went to solder a new connector on, the outer wire braid was completely corroded. Stripped the insulation back a good two feet before I found bright shiny wire. Obviously some water intrusion into the cable end. Now, I realize you get what you pay for. Spend the money for a good cable. This one will probably work fine if it's never exposed to the elements. If it is, you might get a year out of it.2!!! DO NOT BUY !!! This thing became shorted internally at some point like other reviewers have warned. It ended up frying my CB radio. 1Quality Cable18' RG-58/U Coax cable with pl-259 connectors. This cable seems to be of fairly good quality. This is the preferred length for most automotive applications but was just a little too long (maybe 2-3 feet) for a 11' Jeep wrangler unlimited. Since you do not want to coil the cable up I ran it up the passenger side in the rear then over to the driver side just behind the back row of seating, under the seat back over to the passenger side under the carpet and up under the front passenger seat. It was a little work but the idea is to not coil up the extra length if you have any, that will mess with your SWR from what I understand.4Ok cable, don't be rough with it or you'll compromise cable.Worked fine in first install but had higher than I wanted SWR since day one. Reinstalled same exact set up on new truck and SWR is way to high to use and aborted internally due to cheap foam sheiliding they use to make this cable. Cable is a one time use cable. removing and reinstalling compromised the cable so now I replaced with a firestik brand to match the antenna. Buy the good coax cable from the start and test your SWR or you'll burn up your radio!3works welli guess its a quality cable. it doesnt feel cheap or anything. that hard part was getting the connector through the tail gate of my jeep. i ended up not routing it through anything and just passint it between the back window and tailgate. it went from the tire rack to the passanger seat of my JKUR with some to spare. i did run it along the floor and carpet and not along the roll bars.4Threaded tightening nuts are too long to fully tighten onto radioChina Junk! Threaded tightening nuts are too long to get fully tightened onto the radio. i have a Cobra standard model 29LTD Mobile, it should work on my radio. ill see if i can grind them down a little as returning will be more trouble and $ then its worth.. 1 star because no stars is not an option1Solid product, will continue to buy this line of productsThis is the first time I ve ever bought anything made by truck spec. I ve seen their products for years in the truck stops but never bought anything simply because of price and it looked cheap. The cheapness was a gross misunderstanding. This is a great cable with solid connections. The 18 is a nice length that probably won t see too much loss or impedance. I didn t test it on an SWR or tune on it as I bought it for a quick and dirty application which it will do fine for. I did notice that if you leave it coiled it does affect performance in a negative way but it s not terrible.5very very cheap cable. The connector broke on first ...very very cheap cable. The connector broke on first use. If you buy this cable do not be surprised if the connection pulls apart from the inner wire the first time you disconnect an antenna connector. I wish i could have returned.1Tips and Tricksbefore i ran the cable through the car [under the rug..etc] i first electrical tape [easier to get off] the ends. i also used a make-shift guide to help funnel under carpet, behind moldings. i then took off the tape once i got the wire in place5
